Tides Cottage is a beautifully situated waterfront retreat on a quiet tidal inlet in Bass Harbor near Acadia National Park. Designed for comfort and relaxation, this inviting coastal cottage offers peaceful water views, modern amenities, and the perfect location for exploring the quieter side of Mount Desert Island.

The home features 3 bedrooms, each with it's own private bath, comfortably accommodating up to 6 people. The king bedroom includes a newly renovated tile walk-in shower, the twin bedroom also offers new tile walk-in shower and the queen bedroom features a shower stall.

The open kitchen, dining, and living area is filled with natural light from vaulted ceilings and large windows facing east over the water. Relax by the cozy wood-burning fireplace after a day exploring Acadia or enjoy the comfort of both heating and air conditioning throughout the home.

Outdoor living is just as special at Tides. The deck offers comfortable seating for morning coffee, waterfront dining, or taking in beautiful sunrises. Just off the front porch, guests can gather around the wood burning fire pit and enjoy meals off the grill at the picnic table.

Guests also have access to a shared dock with the neighboring cottage, complete with kayaks and a rowboat. Conveniently located within walking distance of Archies lobster and close to many Acadia National Park hiking trails, Tides is also just three miles from the center of Southwest Harbor where you will find shops and restaurants.

Whether you're seeking adventure in Acadia or a quiet place to unwind by the water, Tides Cottage is the perfect Maine coastal getaway

The pictures did not do the house or scenery justice. It was perfect in every way! We will definitely be back. The host was so nice and accommodating. We loved the location away from bar harbor but also close to the national park. We loved our stay here and can’t wait to come back.

This property perfectly met our needs as a family of 5. I was very impressed with how clean it was! We’ve rented many houses in various locations and this was probably the cleanest yet!! The kitchen was well equipped which we appreciated since we like to save some money on meals. If you are looking to do a lot at Acadia you should plan accordingly- took us about 25 minutes each way to get there and to bar harbor. I didn’t really think it was a big deal and since it was our first time as a family I didn’t know. It does add up. If you’re planning on being out all day and are prepared to do so it’s not a big deal. I do appreciate the quiet of this side of the island! We were pretty active with our three kids though.

Thank you for such a lovely review! It is a 25 minute drive to Bar Harbor and the Park Loop, Road entrance of Acadia national Park. That being said, Acadia national Park is peppered throughout Mount Desert Island. We have many hiking trails, Echo Lake, which offers three different swimming spots, the iconic Seawall, and Bass Harbor headlight to name just a few spots all within a 15 minute drive. For anyone looking to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, this is a great place to enjoy the Quietside while still being only a 25 minute drive to the Park Loop, Road.

Nice small waterfront 3BR/3BA cottage that was great for 4 adults and two kids. There was a lobster pound within walking distance of the cottage too! Beds were comfortable and it was nice having en-suite bathrooms with each bedroom. The only negatives are: 1. two of the bedrooms have no air conditioning so on hot days it will be uncomfortable; 2. Two of the bathroom showers have no doors making it nearly impossible to not get water on the bathroom floors. 3. There is absolutely no “horizontal space” in the King Bedroom and bathroom except the two night stands and a suitcase stand. We had to place some items on the floor. 4. King bed bathroom sink is tiny (like something you see on an airplane) with no horizontal space for your toiletries. Other than that, everything was great…

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our guests as it helps us to continue to improve our cottages. Regarding the bathrooms, two of the three bathrooms are new and feature modern walk-in tile showers. These are intentionally designed without doors. to maximize space while keeping the bathrooms, bright and open. The sinks that we chose were intentionally compact to make the most of the small space. I would agree, however, that some more shelving is needed around the sink and I am beginning to look for some right now. We also have shelves to put up behind the toilets, which will be additional space for towels and such. The windows and ceiling fan in the queen bedroom and table fan in the twin, have sufficed since we built this cottage. We have very few hot summer nights here on the coast of Maine where a ceiling fan and an open window don’t seem like enough to cool you down! We are always looking for ways to improve our guests experience and will continue making thoughtful improvements. Glad that you found the beds comfortable and proximity to Archies is not only walkable, you can kayak!

Great location with beautiful views. Close enough to restaurants and attractions . Well stocked kitchen and plenty of space overall. The wheeled luggage cart was was a welcome addition as well. Overall an enjoyable stay and if we revisit the area would stay here again

The photos do not do this spot justice. It was so cozy and our stay was fantastic. We were splitting time in Acadia and Boston, and now I wish I would have made it an entire one in Maine to stay here. I could have drank coffee and stared out the front window over looking the water all day.

Amazing place!

We went for our daughter’s senior trip and this property was amazing. Beautiful views, quiet, enjoyed the kayaks too! Would definitely stay again. The only issue we had was running out of hot water pretty quickly. A family of five and maybe 2 could get consecutive hot showers.

Thank you for the feed back about the hot water heater Steve! I had not heard this from guests before but it is a hot water tank and not an on demand system so it will need to reheat for about 30 minutes if it is drained by consecutive showers, and hot water being used in other areas at the same time. I will make note of this and check with future guests to see if they also have issues.

WOW, UTTERLY PERFECT!! I couldn't have found a better house. Private and cozy cabin right on the water with ample space, updated rooms and amenities, pristine landscaping, its own dock, kayaks, and fire pit. House was spotless and has everything that you need. Host was very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend for anyone. The whole island is beautiful!

We purchased 2.5 acres on Bass Harbor in 1974 and built our home and the cottages in the following years adding upgrades and renovations almost yearly. We are native to Mount Desert Island, have 2 grown children and 4 almost grown grandchildren. We enjoy boating the Maine coast, kayaking the local waters and walking the trails of Acadia.

This cottage is all wood, no smelly carpets, is located right at the water's edge on Mill Creek off Bass Harbor and is only 3 miles to down town Southwest Harbor and 25 minutes to down town Bar Harbor. Entrances to Acadia are all around us.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Sitting in the swing at the water's edge with morning coffee and again at the end of the day is a peaceful start and ending to every day. The white washed vaulted ceilings and glass front gives the combined living/kitchen a spacious feel and perfect spot for bird watching with our binoculars. Each bedroom will have its own private bath with completion of renovations in May for added privacy for all guests!
