Ma'alaea Surf, Unit H2 - Beautifully appointed, H2 is an ideally located ground floor unit, approximately 5 steps from the white sandy beach. This comfortable unit features a contemporary kitchen and a large living area that looks out on the ocean. It also includes central AC, Wi-Fi, TV, 2 outdoor pools, tennis and pickleball courts, convenient parking, 2 BBQ areas and washer/dryers onsite located in guest laundry rooms on property.

Enjoy the ocean views and Maui's majestic sunset from your spacious private patio (lanai). The beautiful beaches fronting the property offer not only spectacular views but also outstanding swimming, snorkeling and kayaking and are perfect for leisurely walks or jogging. The maximum occupancy allowed in this unit is 4. All units at Maalaea Surf are non-smoking.

Our property is NOT impacted by the recent news regarding potential short-term rental (STR) restrictions in Maui. Because we are zoned as a hotel property, we are exempt from the County of Maui's proposed STR regulations.

Only thing on maui UNDER PRICED

Amazing location ,you will feel like you own a piece of the ocean,,only thing to complain about is internet is limited to inside the property ,once u get on patio internet goes away ,but that is a small price to pay for this place ,will definitely return ,great for couples or a family with 1 child ,,anymore is a tight squeeze

Reviewer Comments: We recently stayed at a beautiful property in Maui, and overall, it was a great experience. The rental itself was stunning—spacious, well-designed, and located in a fantastic area. It had so much potential and really made our trip memorable.That said, there were a few areas where the rental fell short. While the home was visually impressive, it lacked some basic essentials for a comfortable stay—things like an adequate supply of towels and everyday necessities were missing. Additionally, while the property appeared clean at a glance, it could benefit from a more thorough deep cleaning. We noticed dust buildup in corners and on baseboards, which detracted slightly from the overall experience.With a few improvements in stocking and cleaning, this place could easily be five-star. We’d still recommend it, especially for the location and layout, but hope to see those details addressed in the future.

Location is the best spot on the island if you want a peaceful place away from the “strip” to enjoy your maitai from the lanai while gazing at the gentle waves and dolphins. Conveniently located at the north end of Kihei so you can easily head north to Lahaina, across to Paia and Hāna or hook up with the Haleakalā highway. And Kihei and Wailea are close so there is shopping, groceries, restaurants and more great beaches just minutes away. Super easy to find from the airport too. H2 is an older unit, but everything was clean and comfortable...brand new carpet was appreciated and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of dishes, glasses, silverware and pots/pans so we didn’t have any troubles cooking in...which we did plenty of...and north end bbq was just a few steps away. Grounds get constant attention so the landscape was just as beautiful as the beach! Pool was also close, but not right next door which we appreciated, as well as only two beach access points which gave the property a real sense of privacy. Completely satisfied with our stay and can’t wait to return with family next time so they understand how wonderful Ma’alaea Surf really is! Mahalo from the Hills

Good overall value - but can't totally recommend to friends and family

Overall good. The pluses here are the low density of the development, it's mellow - assuming you want that. Very quiet in the ocean front units. The back units get more road noise. I knocked one star off cleanliness as the place just has an overall musty scent to it. (more on that later). The biggest downside to this place, and generally Sugar Beach now is the unpredictable beach and water conditions. Sugar beach can be very beautiful, but particularly in the rainy season it can get very muddy. There is a big drainage that comes into the bay here from upcountry. For the past few years when they get heavy rains that drainage ditch gets totally overwhelmed. It floods into the bay, all kinds of gross stuff. It makes the beach area pretty much useless. All kinds of stuff washes up on the beach, and the water turns brown and it's essentially not swimmable. So that makes for a buzz kill for your beachfront vacation. My understanding is this only happens in rainy season. So the rest of the time is likely fine. They have two pools. But I don't think they are heated at all, so if you like a warm pool to swim in - you won't get that here. Also for me it's a drawback that there's no Hot Tub. But if you don't care about such things it's obviously NBD there. Here you really trade off the "resort pool" scene for less crowds and very mellow. Finally - when they do get flooding here in the rainy season they now have a big flood gate they install..

H2 is our second beachfront condo stay and you just can’t beat the peace and comfort. We had to cancel our trip last year due to Lahaina fires but returned this year to support Maui’s recovery. We will be back! Mahalo!

They keep the property very clean and their management staff was highly professional. With onsite pickleball, shuffleboard and pool we enjoyed it all. The beach is a perfect spot for lounging or long walks daily. Every restaurant is close. This is our favorite place to go in Maui.

Also, there was everything you could imagine in the kitchen. It was great to be 15 to 30 minutes from all the tourist areas on the island. Would stay here again.However, the unit needs to have a serious deep clean. I'm allergic to dust and as soon as I stepped through the door I was sneezing. I noticed that the air conditioning vents had not been cleaned in a very long time. There was a thick layer of dust on all the vents including the air filter. I had to climb up and clean them. I hung my clothes in the closet and when I took out one of my dresses the entire bottom of my dress was covered in dust bunnies. Also, the air conditioning unit was very loud, almost like it was about to die. The other issue was the bugs. I know it's Maui and there are bugs, but it was so bad I couldn't eat outside. The property needs to be sprayed more often.Considerations for the Future:It would be nice to have a washer and dryer in the unit. You could easily put one in the "cleaning equipment" closet by the bathroom and put the cleaning equipment in the second closet in the bedroom. Also, the shower faucet will need to be replaced soon.

H2 had a beautiful view of the ocean from the Lanai where we can listen to the waves into the evening hours. The only downside to sitting on the lanai at night was the bright outdoor light that rests between H1 and H2, it took away from the views. The property was well stocked with the essentials as well as beach items that we were very grateful for. The entire rental is updated beautifully. We would definitely stay here again.

The ocean was right outside our door and the pool was not much further away! The unit was brand new (an unexpected upgrade after flooding last winter) which was a total bonus. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay by the Maalaea Bay.We will stay at the Maalaea Surf Resort anytime we return to Maui. The location is great right outside of Kihei and accessible to get on roads leading to other parts of the island. The property is beautiful and quiet. The pool and shuffle board are perfect for the kids. We’re so glad we found this gem!

Million Dollar View

From a seasoned Maui visitor, traveling alone, widowed, and plan to spend time with local girlfriends, the condo was great. The staff made me feel welcome and safe and the Valentine's cookies were so thoughtful! The grounds are lovely and the condo was very clean but also dated. Considering the cost is high end I do have some suggestions: Bathroom - improve lighting and the shower faucet. Kitchen - too many dishes - remove half so there is space for guests groceries. Need beach chairs and umbrella. Finally, it was inconvenient not to have a washer/ dryer in the unit. For me being alone it was fine but if I was staying longer and with my significant other the lack of W/D is a big negative.
