Brevard, DuPont State Forest, Pretty Place, Waterfalls and Mountain Biking

Scenic Cedar Mountain in Transylvania County is a beautiful community located halfway between Brevard and Hendersonville. The area is known as the Land of Waterfalls as it has more than 250 waterfalls in it. Asheville and Greenville are both within an hour. It is a great place to kick back and enjoy delicious food and beverages in an area full of art and awesome hangouts.

This newly renovated 3-bedroom, 2 full bathroom house is situated on a 3-acre lot that is mostly wooded with wild mountain laurel and rhododendron throughout the property. The mountain laurel and rhododendron are often found in full bloom from May to late June. The property is very close to the waterfalls, hiking, and mountain biking trails in Dupont State Forest. With all 6 Dupont parking lots within 5 miles of our house, you could go biking or hiking in the early morning, back to the house for lunch, then back out again to see the waterfalls in the afternoon. We are that close.

The house is also near the Fred W. Symmes "PRETTY PLACE" Chapel, only 7 miles away. It's a perfect place to stay when attending a wedding there or just riding up in the afternoon to see the view from the Cross.

DuPont State Forest is a beautiful forest where you can connect with nature. It is an outdoor lover's dream with many waterfalls including: Hooker Falls, High Falls, Triple Falls, Grassy Creek Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Wintergreen Falls and more. It has 86 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback trails on over 10,000 acres. Dupont is also one of the top Mountain Biking destinations in the Southeast. Our house is as close as you can get. It is only 1 mile to the nearest parking lot and within 5 miles of Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls.

Fawn Lake is a popular swimming hole in hot summer months. It is 3 miles from our house in the southern end of Dupont State Forest and 0.5 miles from the Fawn Lake Access Area parking lot. There are picnic tables, a gazebo, and a diving dock.

The Blue Ghost fireflies (Phausis reticulate) are a rare, beautiful, and unique firefly species found in the mountains of western North Carolina, including the Cedar Mountain area. They are known for their distinctive blue-green glow, different from the typical yellow or green light emitted by other firefly species. They are usually seen in May and June. I had the opportunity to see them one evening while relaxing in the back yard.

The house has plenty of parking for 2-3 cars, a nice front porch for star watching at night plus a big deck out back for hanging out with the family and cooking out on the gas grill. The kitchen is wide open with new counter tops, newly refinished cabinets full of dishes, pots, pans and lots of space for fixing meals. There is plenty of seating everywhere for relaxing, solid hickory floors throughout the house, new bathrooms and fixtures. New mattresses were purchased in the Fall of 2023. The house has 2 fireplaces inside and a fire pit in the front and back yard.
