The house is located on a quiet creek off of the Great Wicomico River, just a few miles from the Chesapeake Bay.
This home is located on a private point of land with water on three sides. There are water views from all rooms in the home. The property includes 16 acres surrounded by rural farmland, water and woods. Wildlife include deer, ducks, ospreys, and bald eagles. Rivah Home is perfect for a quiet family retreat, romantic weekend, reunion or nature lovers adventure.
Many guests bring their own boat - plenty of room both at dock, and to store trailer.
The Rivah Home has also become a destination for kayaking and paddle boarding.
A paddle board [SUP] and three kayaks are provided. These are recreational kayaks. If you would like to bring a sea kayak, etc. there is plenty of space to park between outings.
Explore creeks with lots of wildlife including Barretts Creek, Horn Harbor Creek, and Ball Creek.
More experienced kayakers may want to paddle to Reedville or Dameron Marsh Natural Area Preserve. Both are about seven miles away from the Rivah Home.

The 316-acre Dameron Marsh Natural Area Preserve is one in a series of protected lands that line the western and eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. This preserve contains one of the most significant wetlands on the Chesapeake Bay for marsh-bird communities

There is also a library of kayak and boating books at the Rivah Home. These include three Basic Kayaking books, two Sea Kayaking books, one Sea Kayak Rescue book, one Kayak Navigation book and Sea Kayaking Virginia: A Paddler's Guide to Day Trips.
Kayak fishing has become very popular, especially bass fishing [rockfish] in the Northern Neck and Chesapeake Bay areas. Our kayaking book collection includes four books on kayak fishing. General kayak fishing information is covered in "The Complete Kayak Fisherman", "Sportsman’s Best: Kayak Fishing Book", and "Kayak Fishing: The Ultimate Guide 2nd Edition".
Many of our guests have asked about renting a boat. We have added the rental of a 2004 Four Winns Vista 248.
The optional rental comes with a U.S Coast Guard certified captain, which allows you enjoy your cruise without worries. Kick back while the captain takes care of all the technical and practical parts of taking the boat out.
Explore the Great Wicomico River and the Chesapeake Bay by water. Enjoy many waterside restaurants, or explore some of the small towns.
You are also set up for fishing which includes a Saltwater Fishing license for everyone on the boat, a portable fish cleaning station on the dock with electricity and running water, and an outdoor grill. Everything needed for the freshest seafood meal possible - "Sea to Table".
