Sunset House - Belo Cenário e Vistas

We have lowered prices to help you enjoy your stay in our beautiful home. Also, if possible, we'll let you check in at noon rather than 4pm so you can have a full day when you arrive. Early check-in requires no rental the night prior to your day of arrival. Please let us know at least 2 days in advance.
We call our place the 'Sunset House' because the sunsets from the master bedroom balcony and the pool/patio are spectacular. You will want to reserve a time every evening to enjoy the fabulous glow. For the money, you won't find a better place!
One note, we have a custom home in a residential area of all custom homes and people live there full time. Please respect our friends. Extra loud music and big parties are not allowed.

We have recently updated many amenities in the house. We are not in downtown Playa Coco, but in Altos de Cacique on a cliff overlooking the town and Coco Bay. No worries about noise or mosquitos. Our private development is between Coco and Playa Hermosa.

We are certain you won't find a better value anywhere. We have a quality 2200 sq ft house with prices better than local quality hotels. Depending on the season, we may discount 8% for stays longer than 7 days, 10% for 15 days or more, and 15% - 20% for stays longer than 30 days.

Why should you stay with us?

1A) Our prices are the best of any place for what we have to offer. Our beautiful 3-bdrm 2 bath spacious home will satisfy most any traveler. We have a private pool.

1) Clear, magnificent, close unobstructed view of the mountains and ocean from a spacious patio, the pool, the master bedroom balcony/bed, one of the downstairs bedrooms, and a peek from the living area.

2) Short ride by car to 3 beautiful beaches

3) Large spacious home (2200sf) with a beautiful infinity pool. All granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and beautiful showers.

4) Management that has lived there for 20+ years and speaks English and Spanish fluently. He can assist you in whatever you wish to do

5) Our secure location in Los Altos de Cacique is excellent. Every home is custom. Great restaurants are 5 minutes by car away.

6) 45 Minutes from excellent surfing in Tamarindo or a 2 hour boat ride to Witch's Rock for truly world class surfing. A zipline is only 25 minutes from the house. A beautiful waterfall/swimming area is about 35 minutes.

7) We are 5 minutes by car between nightlife, good shopping, and good restaurants in Playa del Coco and a beautiful "Blue Star" beach and elegant restaurants in Playa Hermosa.

8) A great blend of 1st and 3rd world cultures

This is a great house. We loved our stay. The kitchen is fully stocked, we actually made it a game looking for something that wasn’t there, couldn’t find anything. It’s conveniently located close to Playa Coco, and about a 40 minute drive from Liberia airport.

Beautiful view

The infinity pool is the star of this house! It has a gorgeous view and gets sun most of the day. The water temp was perfect. The patio has a table to enjoy the view with your meals and chairs to just relax when you're not in the pool. It's close to both playa hermosa and playas del coco.

Sunset house did not disappoint

We stayed for 11 days and had no issues. Check in too check out any questions we had were answered quickly. This is our second time staying at this house and both times were great.

Sunset House was everything we expected!

Everything from booking to staying to leaving was perfect. Francisco the property manager was extremely accommodating from giving us all the info to get there to setting up our airport shuttle to and from to meeting us when we arrived and helped us very much as we were leaving. The one comment my wife had was the somewhat dated master bedroom bed but we still slept on it perfectly comfortable. Thank you Francisco and owners!!

First Time to Costa Rica

We had a great time staying at Tom's property. Overall, the property was clean. We had a few problems with bugs on the counters and a scorpion in the kitchen. The highlights are the wonderful views from the upstairs bedroom bslcony!balcony

Great view, remote getaway, responsive owner

Easy to get to, check process super easy, house was clean. Owner was super flexible, and was very attentive. Lots of extras especially w beach gear that came in handy. So many great and remote beaches nearby. Loved them and the view!

Great times at The Sunset House

Everything was as expected.. and actually better than expected! The house is spacious and comfortable and the famous view worth the price of admission!

Such a lovely view!

This was a great location between Coco and Hermosa and the view really is amazing. The process was smooth, organized and Bernie was helpful and responsive. The house was comfortable and had the basics we needed. Very quiet spot if you are looking to relax and easy to get to all the fun stuff in the area.

Amazing view!!

The house was great, a little echo-y so if you're hard if hearing it's hard to hear 😁 beware of the time of year you are visiting, we stayed the end of March and the mountains were very dry and controlled burning was going on so the sky always had a haze of smoke. The pool was wonderful, neighbors nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful stay in Coco

Wonderful view and pool, the ice maker in the fridge was a great bonus! Francisco was great to deal with made sure we had everything we needed. The outdoor furniture could be upgraded as well as master bed mattress. Definitely need a vehicle, property is close to Coco Beach but up a very steep hill. Views were amazing and overall a great stay.

Best place in Coco

Wow. Not sure where to start. 1. EZ to find and great management communication 2. My teenage daughter is a runner and non US destinations make me nervous. This place was one of the only with sidewalks in the town and the area felt very safe. 3. Great views. Kids loved the pool and we loved the scenery. 4. stay here!

Gorgeous Sunset House

This property is stunning. Best views in Playa del Coco, especially of sunsets over the bay. Incredible infinity pool. Very comfortable house. The property manager Bernie was very gracious and helpful, and he and the staff maintained the property well. Our thanks to Tom, the owner. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and comfortable home -- even during a tropical storm!

The house was spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully designed. It had three large bedrooms and a large yard making it perfect for a group or family. The living areas were open-plan, with large glass windows that allowed the natural light to flood in. Despite the fact that we were there during Tropical Storm Sara and saw very little sunshine – the house was clean and comfortable, offering a peaceful retreat from the storm. The location was ideal, with stunning views of the ocean and lush hills in the distance and within a short drive to all the amenities we needed: grocery stores, restaurants, and a lovely local beach. The property was also fully stocked with beach towels and snorkling gear.

Beautiful views.

This was our first trip to beautiful Costa Rica. The sunset house gave a great location to base our activities. The pool was lovely. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc... Bernie, the house manager, is fantastic. We never went without and Bernie helped us set up our fishing trip. Great guy, great house.... we will be back.

We enjoyed our stay

Beautiful view and private backyard where we spent most of our time enjoying the pool. The beds were a bit hard for my back. We didn’t need anything but food. Tom has everything u need there. Still have the old patio furniture. Francisco was the best. Responded to our texts quickly. Very good Property manager.

Beautiful location & Home

Loved the location, and home, descriptions were accurate. Only downfall, is it is in need of basic maintenance. Lawns could have been mowed, lawn furniture very weather fatigued and there was something very wrong with the grey water septic. we had to plug all drains to keep odors at bay.

My daughter took this photo of me surfing for the first time in Tamarindo. The greatest thing about visiting my place in Costa Rica is the feeling of serenity. Of course there's much to do. At the same time, after a short period, one feels the tranquility of the country. I promise, it's hard to leave after just a week or so.

PS - when looking at the map, we are located on HWY 159 past the right angle turn on the first road to the left.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

It was a bit of good fortune. A friend recommended the area and when visiting we were directed to the 'private' beaches that are part of Los Altos de Cacique. The water was so clear and warm with abundant fish that we decided, on the spot, to buy a house we had found in the development that was 60% completed. It took a bit of doing but we are extremely happy with how things turned out.
