This lofty home is located among the evergreens in Ockenden Ranch, a neighborhood that sits two miles south of the village of Shaver Lake. Spend the summer swimming and trout fishing in Shaver Lake three miles north, take gorgeous hikes around Huntington Lake 18 miles north, and catch a few thrills skiing or biking the slopes of China Peak Mountain Resort 21 miles northeast.

Step inside to admire a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth, natural wood details, and plush carpeting to warm your toes in the winter. Spend snowy mornings browsing the free WiFi, watching your favorite shows on the wall-mounted flatscreen TV, and fixing yourself a mug of hot chocolate in the full kitchen. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Simple cabin ready for a nice stay

This cabin was a good fit for our family to stay in for a spring trip to the snow. The deck would be so nice in the summer, we would like to visit again!

Great place for a quiet getaway. Close to downtown and Shaver Lake.

Cabin setting surrounded by large beautiful trees. Beautiful covered patio with picnic benches and 4 burner propane barbecue . Deer use the rear property as they roam through the neighborhood.

Beautiful cabin

This is a beautiful cabin well maintained and clean. We enjoyed our stay. We did have a little trouble with the tv, but I think that might be because we aren’t used to streaming tv.

Great home!

We absolutely loved this home! My husband and I and 2 daughters (8&5) had so much fun! We had the fireplace going and we watched movies all weekend. The girls played outside since there was just enough snow to make some snow balls. I highly recommend this home, it comes with everything you need!

Perfect Family Rental

This was the perfect house for us to rent for our family weekend to the snow! Large bedrooms, great open floor plan, nice side yard and outdoor space where my kids could play easily. Nicely equipped kitchen, laundry service linens, washer/dryer if needed! Great central air heating (only needed to set it at 66-67 all snowy weekend) and cozy fireplace (bring your own wood). Responsive management that addressed some minor issues quickly. 7 minutes to the town of Shaver Lake! Would definitely return here again!

Nice Home, great family time EXCEPT Construction right across the street

Nice neighborhood but with construction right across the street Zero peace and quiet. Crews started at 7AM. Made our reservation 4 months in advance, plenty of time to let us know about the home construction. We would have been happy with an opportunity to pick another home to stay. Home could use a deep clean but very comfortable and has everything you need.

The house was really roomy, but half of the house was locked, fans didn’t work well so it was really stuffy and hot in the house, everything smelt really old, beds are hard as hell, there was no propane in the tank to use the bbq grill over all very disappointing for how nice the house was.

Beautiful Home

This is a spacious, beautiful cabin. It has comfortable beds and is equipped with many basics. The reason I am giving this house a 3 is for two big issues: cleanliness and WiFi. The house itself was fairly clean. However, we found food particles in the living room carpet. The fridge was dirty and had old food and a dead bug in it. There was a used diaper on the driveway when we arrived and a pan of old food sitting out on the patio. The WiFi did not work at all during our entire stay. If it wasn’t for those two issues, this rental is a 5 for location, spaciousness, amenities, and cabin decor.

Overall, decent house in great location

The house is in a great location, close to town and in quiet neighborhood. The layout is good with plenty of room. We were not impressed with the lack of cleanliness of the home (dirty clothing found under beds and on floors in closets, food items found on tile floor, tree needles all over carpet floor, microwave and frig in poor condition (they work but microwave takes a long time to heat and frig does not keep items cold) and other used adult items found on bedroom floor (the beds were made with clean sheets and clean towels however the rest of house was not cleaned). I contacted vacasa and was eventually (after several calls) told we would receive half of the cleaning deposit back.

Could be a Nice house if Everything was functional

Several issues we encountered in our stay. The WIFI was offline the entire time. Router was locked inside a cabinet and could not be reset. The Blinds were broken in both of the upstairs bedrooms and could not be closed. The Sun came in early and woke us up. Propane tank was either empty or broken. So We couldn’t use the BBQ. Microwave door was falling off. House Needs some TLC.

Bottom line, its a nice house. The downside for us was the ridiculous amount of instructions from the owner. Everywhere you look, little notes telling you what to do or don’t do. Serious OCD. We get it. Treat the home with respect. Also, half of the rooms were locked and not for renters use. For every one kitchen cabinet that we could use (with specific instructions of course) there were two cabinets that were locked. Locked garage-no renter use. We felt like unwanted guests. Kind of detracted from the stay.

Great Cabin, dirty Kitchen

This cabin was BEAUTIFUL. It is in a great location and only a few minutes away from the lake. There’s a great burger joint down the street that’s a perfect for lunch. Pricey, but worth it. Each room had a tv, if that’s your thing, and the rooms upstairs had a VHS player! So bring your own movies. The cabin had the bare necessities, which isn’t bad, we mainly used the cabin to eat and sleep, so we’re not complaining. The hot water does go fast, so ration it if you have max guest like we did. My only complaint was the kitchen, the appliances and dish ware seemed to not be cleaned at all. Old food and grease stains covered a majority of it. Gross, yes, but I just made sure to wash everything before we used it. EVERYTHING. I understand not everyone is as easy going, so if this is something you do not want to deal with, you may want to look elsewhere.

Simple and Sweet

This is a cute and sweet cabin! The property is well taken care of and matched the listing! We loved the cute neighborhood the house was in! The house itself felt very clean, lots of space to hang out and relax together, and we loved that there was cell service! There were a few things that were a little bit of a miss for us. We wished there were blankets in the living room or extra in the bedrooms to use. It was a bit cold, especially in the morning, and having a blanket to cuddle up with would have been nice. The TV in the living room is way to small for the space, we struggled to watch it. The kitchen is pretty well supplied, but we wished there were dish towels instead of just cheap paper towels. One of the biggest issues we had was with the water. There is a sign on the fridge saying that there had been high levels of asbestos in the water (nothing that was dangerous). When we used the water in the kitchen it came out very cloudy looking which is fine for cooking, but not so much for drinking. I am sure the water was fine to use (at least I hope it was because we did!), but I wish there was more information about the water and a note that you might want to bring your own bottles or jugs for drinking. There are not any stores that are super close by which made getting water a bit of an inconvenience. This last part could be a good or bad thing depending on your personality. There are a LOT of notes around this house! Everywhere you look is another note about something or another, which is fine, but between those and all of the locked cabinets and things you cannot use or touch, it was a bit much. Overall, we really enjoyed the space and it was perfect for the relaxing birthday weekend with friends!

Perfect getaway!

First time taking the family to Shaver and this cabin was perfect. It was spacious, clean, well-stocked. Beds were comfortable and they had plenty of clean, soft towels. Location was a short drive to the lake, in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. Surprisingly fantastic for the price we paid. Would recommend and are already planning our next stay! Only downside: No central AC, so if you go during the summer and it's over 75 degrees, make sure to pack an extra fan. They did have a few there, but a few more would make warmer days more enjoyable.

Great weekend

We, a group of 6, stayed for a weekend away. We felt like we had plenty of space, the kitchen was spacious and the living room felt cozy. We were a little warm in the summer heat but the fans helped cool us down a lot. We were close enough to drive down 5-10 minutes to hiking trails and the lake. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Hatcher Hideaway

Clean, quiet, safe, close to town. Upon entering, we heard a smoke alarm chirping. We called and the duty person responded quickly to change battery. All the comforts of home! We would recommend this getaway for a relaxing time.
