ā€œCasa la Tortugaā€ located in Canto Del Mar (Song of the Sea) a mountainside gated community overlooking the Pacific in Dominicalito, Costa Rica, located between Dominical and Uvita, CR. This is a unique part of Central America where the jungle meets the sea. Canto del Mar has 34 mountainside Villas 5 minutes from Playa Dominicalito.

You will find our villa relaxing and inviting after spending a day on the beach or exploring the many fun activities in the area such as horseback riding, surfing, paragliding, hiking, waterfalls and much more. Poza Azul waterfall is just an eight minute walk from our Villa and Kia Ora is just a short walk across the street from the main entrance. They have a wonderful Yoga Studio and coffee shop.

The sights and sounds of the Pacific ocean is amazing from our living room and palapa. Around-the-clock security adds to the peaceful experience.

Our two level ocean view villa has a fully equipped kitchen, dining, living area and half bath as you enter. The pool and palapa is a great place to grab a drink, grill fresh seafood and watch a beautiful Pacific sunset. In the lower level (small flight of stairs to access) you will find two master bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and balcony along with a TV area that can accommodate two more adults and an adjacent laundry room. The great room has a day bed with a futon in one bedroom to accommodate children in your party. Our Villa is baby friendly with a Pack-N-Play and baby gate.

You will experience a variety of birds, monkeys, lizards, sloths, and more during your stay. You can drive to the nearby, Altura Wildlife Preserve or to nearby five star restaurants, grocery and ATM. We have a tourist guide book that will assist you with local restaurants and tours. Our Property Management group can assist you in booking tours and excursions. Cable, WiFi is strong with the strong streaming strength for Netflix and Amazon Prime to the the smart TVs in the living area and one bedroom.

World class surfing, fishing, and the world famous Whaleā€™s Tail formation each day at low tide in Uvita. Additionally, Manuel Antonio National Park is a 40 minute drive.

We are located approximately three and half hours south of the San Jose where you will enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains and ocean views of the Pacific coast. We suggest you fly into San Jose International (SJO) airport and renting a vehicle or hiring a shuttle to Dominical and renting a vehicle there.

Road has been paved for a while now and 4x4 vehicle is not required to access this area which a huge win!

Beautiful Oceans Views, Nice Place near Playa Dominicalito

We spent three weeks here with friends. Excellent concierge service that recommended very good tour agencies. Walkable to the beach, Poza Azul, and the village of Dominicalito. Views of the oceans, and easy drives to many sites. Will stay again!

This was a great space to relax and unwind after busy days exploring. Kitchen had everything we needed, felt safe and welcomed by smiling security team- had the chance to see monkeys and macaws from the deck! Canto Del Mar is a gem- HIGHLY recommend.

Loved everything about Casa de Tortuga

Our family of 4 loved our stay here! The view was spectacular, the little pool so refreshing. Everything was clean. We felt very safe in the little community. It was close to the beach and a good central location for things like zip lining and chocolate tour. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing ocean and sunset view

Lovely property. We stayed for 3 months. It had everything we were looking for in a vacation rental, including an amazing management team that made sure everything ran smoothly and we had what we needed. There's a lovely cafe down the hill and daily yoga classes. The beach was a very short drive away, and there's a fabulous natural market and great farmers market and restaurants about 10 mins away.

Amazing property

This was our 3rd trip to this area, and we absolutely loved this property. The views and nature sounds were unbelievable. The home was perfectly located, so close to a wonderful waterfall where our boys (10 & 8) had the best time, and minutes from beautiful beaches. Our boys took surf lessons 3 days and had a blast. The plunge pool was perfect after a long day at the beach. The beds were so comfy, the house was well stocked, and the manager was easy to communicate with. We can't wait to return!

Awesome stay April 2023

Had a great time, place was just as described, went surfing, zipping ,waterfalls ,fishing. Great time had by all. Tips- I have two athletic tea age boys 15 & 17. Surfing at the beach at beach across from the condo is a bit calmer waves than Dominical but there are no life guards at the beach closest to the condo. Surf boards are less expensive in Dominical. If you are coming days before Easter things will be shut down near the beach and the major cities. Get food and essentials at the wallmart in San Jose before making the journey to Dominicalito. We were feeding two stomachs with legs. Local food stores if you want to cook at home are expensive and not much variety. There is a B&m supermarket 10 min towards Utivia we discovered 1/2 through our trip. Went to bar Jolly Roger highly recommend the view but need 4x4 to get up the hill. Great place!!

Best Vacation Ever

Our experience renting this property was fantastic. Everything went smoothly! The location, view, and home beautiful. Our kids spent every morning cooking and eating breakfast out on the patio looking and listening to the ocean, and monkeys. The kids also enjoyed the games that were there, making smoothies, and dipping in the pool. It was close to so many quaint places and things to do. The surfers were fun to watch each evening as well. It was extremely relaxing and laid back. Our 4 kids range from 4 to 23 and we all are already planning our next trip back to stay again. It was all perfect! Not to mention the management company helped us plan some great activities and point us in the right direction... along with the activity book that was left. Waterfalls/jungle tour/atv ride/coffee farm (by far our favorite thing), fishing charter, kayaking the mangroves, snorkeling Cano Island, Alturas wildlife sanctuary, and lots of food and beach visits ;).... This house location though is snap dab in the middle of it all with prime viewing and one of the prettiest out there! You can't beat it!

Great location and view!

Our family had a wonderful stay. The layout of the property is great and the kitchen well equipped. The pool is smaller but the patio is a great area to spend time and watch the sunset. Parking is a little difficult as we had two cars and there was no designated parking pad. Management team was very helpful. Highly recommended!

Easy access and fabulous views

No 4x4 needed. I have stayed in canto del Mar a few times. My most recent trip had a wonderful surprise, paved roads! The villas are older but have everything you need. Sleeping to the sound of the Waves crashing below was pure Bliss. Waking up to howler monkeys is the perfect reminder of pura vida!

Just couple comments

We did enjoy staying at your place very much. Just a couple comments. Cleanliness I just put 3 stars mostly because of the kitchen. The house was clean but the kitchen cupboards are dirty inside and specially under the sink. Maybe you should tell your cleaning company. Maybe it will be nice to have some real wine glasses instead of just plastic. Kitchen may need some update. Maybe have an other hair dryer. One for each room. You could mention in your information about the hill. We had a 2 x 4 and had a hard time to get on top and the road up got worse maybe because of the construction next door. These are just suggestions. We love the view and the bedrooms set up downstairs are amazing it is very quiet between the two rooms. Thanks again for a lovely stay at your house. Annie and Real

Paradise!

We had a wonderful stay in our villa! The view was magnificent! We enjoyed having coffee every morning on the patio and watching the sunset from there in the evening. We loved having a grill as well!!! So easy and cool to cook outside. Loved having beach towels provided as well. We will definitely come and stay again here and we highly recommended it to our friends. Air conditioner in our bedroom did not work but could not be fixed due to the holiday- we put a fan in there at night and that worked! Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful home!

A big WOW - fantastic ocean & mountain views, great ambience. Our "home away from home" in CR.

Leana and Mike, WOW. That was the first impression that we had as we walked into the Villa our first day. The straight-on ocean view was mesmerizing! As we explored the rooms and spaces in 3D what we had seen so many times in the VRBO pics, it became more and more exciting. Villa 12 was a fantastic home base, as we had a blast exploring Dominical, Uvita and the surrounding areas - exploring all day, swimming, meals in the great restaurants. Upon coming home many evenings we would cook in the well-equipped kitchen, kick back with beverages on the Palapa and enjoy the ā€œroarā€ of the ocean waves. When ready for some entertainment (if that wasnā€™t enough) we would search Netflix and enjoy a movie ā€“ all while listening to the wildlife in the trees. The sleeping arrangements were also fantastic. Large rooms, comfortable bedding, well-designed and spacious bathrooms. Plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed the extra sitting room. And again, everywhere that you went in the home you could look out at those gorgeous ocean, mountain and jungle views. We so enjoyed our ā€œhome away from homeā€ that we extended our stay in Villa 12 for another several days ā€“ and still had a bit of sadness when it was time to pack our bags. What a wonderful experience. You have thoughtfully and graciously created a welcoming environment ā€“ close to everything, yet tastefully a remote hideaway for relaxation and rejuvenation. We have been retired since 2013. We have traveled across the United States via Amtrak and have taken two Caribbean vacations on a 50 foot monohull sailboat, but we truly found paradise when we came to Costa Rica.

We researched Costa Rica to buy investment property and a vacation home for two years before purchasing. The area around Uvita and Dominical is what we refer to as Heaven on Earth. We have found the "Ticos" to be so peaceful and the country to be advanced for their efforts on the environment, nature and government. I hope you enjoy our paradise in the South Pacific as much as we do.

The view of the ocean is absolutely breathtaking and the parrots, iguanas, slothes you will see will make you fall in love with Canto Del Mar. You can sit on the patio and see drones, parasailing, paraglyders, surfers and the Pacific Ocean crashing on the rocks below. The sounds of the ocean is so powerful you can hear it from our patio.
