A charming and comfortable beachfront cottage, located at Jade Bay in Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico. The cottage is privately located in the beautiful tropical garden of a private gated property. Its terrace is only 15 yards from the beach and a 10 minute beach walk from Akumal Village. A choice of cozy restaurants will satisfy your appetite. Akumal, 'the place of the turtles', is located between Playa del Carmen with its European flavoured vivid night life and Tulum with its historical Maya ruins. Carpark, private gate, and much more. Beautiful Beachfront Cottage: Usually, beach front villas along the Riviera Maya are big and not meant for a couple or small family to stay, they have usually 5+ bedrooms. The weekly rates are high and not affordable unless you shop around to fill the beds. Our Cottage offers you the Caribbean beachfront joy, the privacy of your own secluded tropical garden and beachfront. An affordable alternative in paradise!

How to Get There: Conveniently located close to the highway 307 from Cancun to Tulum, exit Las Villas Akumal, km 253. Isla Escape can be reached by public transportation with a transfer to the Paradas Continuas or a taxi at Playa del Carmen. All major car rental companies are present at Cancun airport. Car rental is also available at Akumal. Detailed routing will be provided with your booking confirmation through our website.

Where to Go, What to Do: This holiday destination offers a great variety of cultural, historical and leisure activities. If you don`t like 'activities' you may simply lay back and relax on the terrace or the beach with a good book and the ever lasting sound of the ocean. Highly recommend this spot! The house was incredibly clean, the rooms were air conditioned and comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the hosts and thier helpers were fantastic, the beach felt like a private beach, beach toys, including kayaks and boogie boards were provided, and the snorkeling right in front was fantastic! Planning on coming back at some point in the future.

Lovely place with so much privacy. Own beach basically and only. Nice walk into town. Was very lucky to get to see momma turtles laying eggs and another night seeing baby turtles making their way to the ocean. Unforgettable memories. This was our second time staying here and will for sure stay again.

Lovely position with plenty of outside space for eating and sitting in a hammock and lying in the sun overlooking the beach. We were able to wander down the beach yo the Jungle Fish beach bar for supper if we wanted to eat out. A real highlight was snorkeling nearby with Green Turtles. The owner Jacob was very attentive and he and the groundsman Edgar did everything they could to make sure we had everythjng we needed including clearing the seaweed from the beach for us.Thank you

Unforgettable Stay in Akumal

This beachfront cabana was a dream come true. The setting is magical — you truly feel like you’re alone in the world, with the sound of the waves as your soundtrack and direct access to the ocean. The large palapa (thatched roof patio) creates the perfect outdoor living space, with a comfy sofa and a big dining table to enjoy meals with the ocean breeze.Inside, the layout is ideal for a family: two private bedrooms plus a mezzanine with an extra bed. Everything is designed for a peaceful, comfortable stay immersed in nature.Just a 15-minute walk along the beach brings you to the stunning white sand of Akumal Bay. Pure paradise!What truly made our experience exceptional was the service. Kim and Jacob, the owners, were absolutely wonderful — kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. And a huge thank you to Edgar, the property manager, who took care of us throughout our entire stay. Truly a 5-star experience We’ll definitely be back!

A beautiful, private retreat, right on the water

The ocean-side location, the views and the comforts of Isla Escape were exactly as advertised. Better yet, the casita is but a 20 minute beachside stroll to the wonders of Bahia Akumal. Snorkeling with sea turtles in this protected tropical paradise is not to be missed. The owners, Jacob and Moonea, live right next door and were extremely thoughtful and kind. Edgar who manages the property, along with his team, provided attentive service throughout, along with Edgar's cooking talents. The one quibble, is that if you have small children, or if you are not confident swimmers, this might not be the place for you. The seabed is largely coral and rock, not sand. While stunningly beautiful, you have to be careful not to injure yourself, especially in rough conditions. Swimming slippers are a must. Lastly, the casita is fully equipped for adventure; e.g., kayaks, snorkeling gear, wake boards. We would consider coming again. Gracias a todos.

Excellent location for a relaxing vacation

The small home was clean and had amazing access to the beach basically right outside the back porch. There is a covered porch with a table and several chairs and lounging areas in the back yard overlooking the ocean. There is beach area is right there behind the house which is super convenient!Jacob was great and always available. Overall it was excellent!

Fantastic

We were looking for a place that was ocean front, private, and walking distance to a town. This place hit all the marks. Edgar who took care of us and made sure everything was taken care of. Will for sure visit again.

Great Family Time

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The weather wasn’t on our side but the area has a lot to offer. We visited numerous Cenotes so it was fun to swim/snorkel in them. We explored the Tulum ruins - so much bigger than I would have imagined. Great restaurants are nearby but we also used the grill and relaxed. Jacob is an amazing host, we enjoyed his visits and loved seeing Tina 🐶. Thanks for sharing the casita with us.

A wonderful stay!

Four of us -- myself, a friend from California, and my brother and sister-in-law -- had a most wonderful time staying at Kim and Jacob's fantastic cottage right on the beach at Akumal. We felt extremely well-looked after -- Edgar and Karen made sure everything was spick and span every day, and, being without a car, we were very grateful that Edgar could pick up groceries and take us to the ATM when necessary. We also had Edgar cook for us a few nights, which was super, and Kim's gifts of food and drink were highly appreciated! It's a really beautiful place -- extremely private, with its own little lagoon in front, but easy to walk to the softer sands to the left of the property to get deeper into the water for a good swim when you wish. And then you can walk 3 minutes to the right to Jungle Fish for dinner when you fancy a change (we enjoyed dancing to the lively cover band one night!). Very very tranquil -- we read, did yoga, played Scrabble, drank wine and talked -- and never stopped marvelling at the beauty of the location: thank you so much for everything, Kim and Jacob!

Beautiful family vacation spot!

We loved our stay at Isla Escape. Jacob's house is beautiful. My 3 sons, ages 7, 15 and 17 are all asking to come back. As a mom, I felt very reassured that we were in a safe neighborhood. The house was private even with other houses right next door. The garden was beautifully maintained with multiple places to sit and relax. The house and yard were cleaned daily, and on our last day they even offered to do our laundry so that I don't have a pile to do when we get home - what more can a mom ask for?! There were kayaks, life vests, some scuba masks, and beach toys. The kids also loved seeing the hermit crabs and lizards that would pass through outside. The Jungle Fish beach club was just a short walk down the beach and gave us a wonderful place to relax with food, a pool for the kids, and drinks. We were able to explore all around Riviera with our rental car- cenotes, Mayan ruins, Isla Mujeres, swimming with the sea turtles at Akumal Beach, monkeys at Punta Laguna, snorkeling, fishing. This region has it all. Highly recommend!

Isla Escape is better than advertised

We stayed here for a week - two adult couples. We were very comfortable and able to completely unwind and relax. The property is on the beach and has a wonderful yard and covered patio so you can really be outdoors all the time if you like. It is a very quick walk from the best restaurant in Akumal - Jungle Fish. The host is nearby and very responsive and helpful.

We absolutely loved our stay at Isla Escape. The location was perfect. We loved waking up to ocean views every morning. Moon was a fantastic host. She left us goodies at check-in and scheduled a massage for us. They took wonderful care of the property and cleaned daily. We enjoyed the space and the wildlife. Akumal Bay was a short walk or drive. We also enjoyed Jungle Fish, super close by

Girls trip

My friends and I had an amazing time in Mexico! Casa Moonee was an absolute wonderful place to stay! My friends and I are so happy we went with the area of Akumal, it was a great spot!!! We adventured around and decided we made a wise choice! The sargassum in the Akumal area was extremely minimal compared to other areas. We felt safe and everyone we encountered were so nice! We treated ourselves to a special swanky dinner at Alux restaurant, very high end but worth the experience!! We didn't have a bad meal anywhere we went and the service was great for us everywhere. I highly recommend Akumal dive shop, Emilia was a wonderful dive instructor and the Dos Olos Cenote dive was magical! No fish or coral but a beautiful dive in a cavern like setting. Jacob and Kim were amazing hosts and gave us wonderful recommendations for our adventures! I also highly recommend getting the private massages at the cottage, it was wonderful and relaxing! I would highly recommend Casa Moonee to anyone! Such a beautiful and peaceful vibe!! We rented a car and I highly recommend that!

Amazing location, great property, great hosts

The property is location is amazing, right on the beach and about 200 yards from a pretty cool reef for snorkeling. The checkin and put were smooth and the hosts are there every time you need them. We will be back for sure.

Beach Vacation

The pictures don’t to the property justice. Located in Akumal between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, close access to everything. Your own private beach with snorkeling and kayaking steps away. Kim and Jacob were kind and courteous hosts. We would definitely stay here again!

Location is Perfect for Us. We were looking for privacy and no hustle and bustle. House and property were beautiful. Our flight got canceled and Caretaker was very responsive and accommodating, allowing us to stay until next guest was scheduled to arrive. Definitely will return….

Delightful cottage right on the beach

Well-appointed beach cottage right on the beach with a lovely private garden and patio. Beautiful sunrises. The 3rd bedroom is a loft with twin beds, making the place a little tight for 6 adults. Recommend water shoes for the beach, due to rocks. Owners are super helpful and accommodating.

Isla Escape aka “the Flying Dutchman”

Had small group of 5 adults (2 over 90) to celebrate my mothers100th birthday. Property as a pied-a-terre as part of Casa Moonee was functionally, aesthetically and beachfrontly one of the best recreational property experiences in my 57 year travel history - which is extensive and broad. Ownership applies Dutch and Korean attention to detail - services and amenities aplenty - all meals cooked on site with full electric induction infrastructure, outdoor cooking snd refrigeration et al - bedrooms with fantastic mattresses - housecleaning and landscaping included as much or as little as required and arranged and most importantly one of the next beachfront with native coral break water assemblage fostering the singularly most inviting tidal pool sand experience in all of Akumal - even those really fancy places around the bay to the south. Parking access on site removes headaches - access to 307 and all the Mayan riviera make this a sweet stay. All my family (direct and extended) live to Jacob and Kim (captains of the ship - or what I like to call the Flying Dutchman which is a true Isla escape ❤️ From my 100 year old mother who went in the ocean (one of her most favourite things to do in life)
