Villa La Selva is your private tropical oasis. A modern open-air shaded poolside lounge enables the ultimate in tropical indoor-outdoor living. A heated jacuzzi flowing into the infinity edge pool allows you to enjoy the villa day and night. Clean modern lines flow through the kitchen into a beautiful wooden dining table, setting the scene for memorable meals (we highly recommend a night of catering from the team at Pura Vida Catering its a must do!)

At Villa la Selva our aim is to give you the luxurious hotel feel in a private home setting. We provide daily housekeeping services Monday through Saturday with your rental. We can work into a schedule that fits your groups needs.
Additional housekeeping or breakfast preparation help hours can be pre-arranged.

Here in Hacienda Pinilla, a golf cart is a great way to explore the 4500-acre ranch. It's the best way to see the wildlife and monkeys on your way to and from the beach club, Marriott hotel or other amenities.

We have a corporate beach club membership for our guests to enjoy the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla beach club membership.

Beachfront infinity pool, tiki bar and restaurant, spa, soccer and volleyball courts, fitness center, and sun up to sun down the lifeguarded beach at Playa Avellanas. There is a $10 entry fee per person that is then used as credit at the bar and restaurant.
Beach Club has an annual closing in October every year.

Hacienda Pinilla is home to the J W Marriott hotel, as a guest of Villa la Selva you have access to the numerous restaurants on offer.
You can also purchase a day pass for use of the JW pool and amenities.

Explore the 4500-acre ranch that is Hacienda Pinilla. Guided horseback tours are available at any time, the tours can be customized to fit your group from 30 mins to 2 hrs the ride takes you through the forest and then along the secluded beaches and river mouths all here within the ranch.

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS
There are both Amateur and pro trails
The pro trails are 30 km running all throughout the ranch
The amateur trails are 15 km
These trails are also great for hiking and exploring the 4500 acres.

SURFING
Hacienda Pinilla has to be one of the best locations in Costa Rica to base your surf trip. With 6 different waves just on Playa Avellanas alone and private access to the beach breaks of Playa Langosta you don't even need to leave the ranch, but if you looking to explore the area, the famous Playa Negra reef breaks are just 10 minutes south and the river mouth and beach breaks of Tamarindo just 10 minutes to the north.

All of the internal spaces are air-conditioned with individual units allowing you customize your cooling throughout the home.

Villa La Selva has 4 bedrooms and is set up for 11 guests, all of the bedrooms have custom made beds with local wood creating a great style and vibe throughout.

You can get around by renting a car, renting our golf cart, renting bicycles, hiring a shuttle or taxi. Tamarindo, with its shopping, dining and nightlife is just 15 minutes away. The Daniel Oduber International Airport in the town of Liberia just an hour away.

There is a medical clinic within the Hacienda Pinilla community.

We can provide you with private chef bookings, massage therapy appointments, spa appointments, tours and more. Just ask and we can usually make it happen.

If you plan to bring a big group to have a party, or large event, or make excessive noise, please reserve another property as the noise will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave without a refund.***

Host was very helpful, incredibly informative, and quickly responsive. The house was gorgeous and amazing. As beautiful as the photos. The kitchen was well-stocked. The only thing I'd mention is that the VRBO listing said that restaurants and beaches were within walking distance, but on arrival we learned that due to fences in the neighborhood and coyotes at night, it was strongly discouraged to walk to restaurants or beaches and a rental car was mandatory, which we had, but we had hoped to walk a bit.

Perfect vacation home

Reserva de Golf neighborhood was the perfect place for our family to stay while visiting Costa Rica. The neighborhood was full of wildlife and the most beautiful landscaping. The house we stayed in was functional and beautifully designed to accommodate a larger family. The cleaning service was so valuable and they took such good care of us. They even swapped out the floral arrangements daily with flowers and plants from around the property. There was a large platter of fresh fruit waiting for us when got there. The pool and outdoor area was so relaxing, although the hot tub didnā€™t get hot, just warm. The howler monkeys made up for it! The Hacienda Pinilla beach club was so convenient to work out, surf, and pool without leaving the neighborhood. We highly recommend and will definitely come back!

Great Outdoor Space & Spectacular Sunlight

My family of six stayed for a week in February. Because of the outdoor space, there was plenty of room for our four teenagers to spread out. My husband and I loved opening the shades in the morning to overlook the patio/pool area. We enjoyed all of the natural light throughout the back of the house and the master bedroom! All of the staff associated with the property were very responsive. We did have several minor issues that needed tending to and each time help was sent within hours. Keyla, the morning house helper, was awesome. She made breakfast a few times, did laundry, unloaded the dishwasher and kept all of the spaces clean. If you are renting a car, I would forgo the golf cart. There is no reason to have both. In fact, due to the distance of the grocery store and local restaurants, a car actually makes more sense. We did several excursions where there was transportation provided but we also used our own car for an adventure, to get groceries multiple times, and for meals out. Plus, we drove and parked at the Beach Club (no charge for parking). Overall, it was a great trip with some minor inconveniences that were fixed in a reasonable amount of time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa La Selva. The home is gorgeous, comfortable, spotlessly clean and is stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need for an incredible visit. The concierge team is top notch and handles any issues or questions that come up immediately. Our housekeeper was also fantastic and prepared delicious breakfasts for us every morning. We enjoyed the beach club & everything the community has to offer. The community is beautiful, quiet and peaceful with no lack of things to do. Highly recommend!

Amazing week in Costa Rica!

The property is located within the Avenida Pinilla community which includes access to multiple beaches and the clubhouse. The best surprise was having a housekeeper who kept the house tidied up and made amazing breakfast for us each day. The neighborhood is so nice and extremely safe. The nature surrounds you everywhere you go. A truly unbelievable experience for our family!

Amazing Property!

So glad to have found such an amazing property for our recent stay in CR. Although weā€™ve been many times, this was our first visit to this particular area and the first time it rained every day! The house was perfect size to keep our family close but give us space (especially on those rainy days) with all the comforts of home. The cleaning service is every day, except Sundays and unfortunately the person assigned to our house was new and not as great of a cook as some of the others from what we understand, but she tried and was very sweet. Highly recommend Chef Garrett who cooked us an outstanding dinner! You canā€™t entirely tell from the pics but all the showers are 100% outside. While beautiful not always practical with the rain, bats, bugs, and large frogs that want to join you :). The property manager was super responsive and helpful in removing any unwanted guests. Overall great experience šŸŒŸ

This property was perfect for our group of 6 (2 parents and four 17-18 year olds). The kids had enough room to spread out and opt for the pool at the house or take the golf cart to the beach club. The daily housekeeper was amazing and she cooked breakfast for us one morning at our request. There are plenty of towels (take your own to the beach club) and amenities. The management team was quick to respond to our requests and helpful. Lola's at sunset is a must!

A beautiful home with access to gorgeous private beaches. Even had some monkey and deer visitors in the backyard. Joel and Mergie were incredibly helpful in planning our stay and weā€™re always available when needed. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

In awe!

Amazing property. We love our house cleaner (DeAnna) who made us a special breakfast every morning! Iā€™m still in awe that we got to stay in such a beautiful place. Our whole group of 8 LOVED it!!! Would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat. The only downside was the distance and time it took to get to Tamarindo (or to the grocery store). We ended up booking a surfing lesson for my daughter and us adults with Omar (best instructor ever!) and met at Lolaā€™s restaurant. That was so good and the beach was so nice we ended up going there several times and was the vibe we hoped for when visiting CR. Overall felt very safe and loved the people and service

AMAZING

We have stayed all over the US and many Countries in a lot of high end homes and this one did not disappoint! Amazing hosts and the home is beautiful with amazing design qualities. I would highly recommend this! The JW Marriott is also just a short golf cart ride. We rented a cart that was at the home when we arrived and picked up after we left. It was just me, my wife, and 9 year old daughter but you could easily do two families! The JW was a good way to add some entertainment and grab a bite during the day especially for our daughter. Lovely home

House well maintained & very nice as pictured. Housekeeping was excellent & management responsive to our needs. The only downside was a bit isolated so a car is a must. We only had a golf cart which could only be useful to go to beach club or the Marriott. Tennis & pickle ball also nearby by golf cart.

First Time in Costa Rica

Eight of us (adults) stayed at this property. There was ample room to all gather together or retreat to our own space. Huge covered deck, pool and hot got used by all of us. Plenty of towels and kitchen supplies provided. There are a few nearby markets (10-15 minute drive) with everything you will need. If you want to watch movies/shows in English, download from your streaming services prior to going. You will need a direct connection to plug in to the TV USB. Otherwise, 95% of the programs are in Spanish. The community beach club had the best Poki and Ceviche. You pay $10 per person to access the pool/gym/restaurant. You get to apply this access fee to any food/drink you buy. The property manager, Mergie, was very responsive to any questions or issues we had. She even recommended a couple of great tours. We had daily housekeeping as part of our package. She laundered all the towels/bedding, cleaned and cooked breakfast for us every day (you will need to buy the food for her to cook.) The high point of our trip was the private chef Mergie recommended, Garrett - owner of Pura Vida Catering. He and his wife were amazing cooks and were a great source of local info. Perfect house for a short family trip

Villa La Selva was a perfect spot to enjoy Hacienda Pinilla. Joel and Mergie were always available to help in any way they could . Julia, the housekeeper, came in every morning with a smile on her face and kept the house beautifully. Location of the house was perfect - close to JW Marriott and the wonderful Beach Club. We will be back!

Beautiful Property in Hacienda Panilla

This property is beautiful and very well maintained. Joel did a wonderful job catering to every request we threw at him. He recommended excursions and provided a driver for several dinners. There is also a lot of privacy on this property to enjoy the beautiful deck, spa and pool. We enjoyed the pickleball courts and the Marriott property nearby. My only wish is that there were more restaurant options closer to the property (we did find an excellent pizza delivery option close by - key after a long day of activities). If we did it again, I think we'd have a cook come in a night or two. Thank you to the team and all your hospitality.

New Years in Costa Rica

A great property that we all (9) truly enjoyed. Great communication from Joel and Mergie was a real ROCK STAR with all her help getting us in touch with local vendors (car rental) during a very busy time of the year. The property of Haciend Pinilla has something for everyone and we are already looking forward to returning next year.
