Family Retreat at Munds Park

A 3 bedroom 2 bath home on a large lot across the street from Munds Canyon. Magnificent Ponderosa Pine trees and abundant wildlife can be viewed from the huge (550 Square Foot) deck that is ideal for family gatherings or family group gatherings. The deck has, multiple seating areas, umbrellas, ample chairs and a gas BBQ. This is an ideal base from which to enjoy the many visitor attractions of Northern Arizona including the Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Montezuma's Castle, and others. Relax on the deck with the fresh pine air and the brilliant night sky.

In the cabin there is central heat and AC, a Roku ready flat screen TV and DVD Player, giant comfy sectional. The kitchen is fully appointed with range/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and all pots, pans, dishes, and hardware needed. The Master bedroom suite has a king bed and has a full sleeper sofa, has ample walk-in closet; has a very comfortable master bath with double sinks, tub & shower combined and a separate commode. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed that will comfortably sleep two adults and the third bedroom has sturdy bunk bed with full/full and twin trundle perfect for young adults or kids.

Weekend getaway

Property was clean and all personal items needed were provided. The porch was the greatest feature as we spent most of our time sitting out there enjoying the cool weather and watching the squirrels and birds. Beds were comfortable. We had everything we needed for a nice weekend in Munds Park.

munds park family get away

We really enjoyed staying here. The biggest highlights were the covered porch with grill and ceiling fans. Really nice to sit out when it was raining. The huge deck was great. Gates provided security for children and pets while on porch and deck. The cabin was furnished very nicely and comfortable. Owner always provided quick response to any questions we had.

Munds Park trip

We booked the house for a weekend away from the heat of the valley in the end of July. We got into the property fine, although we had to reach out for the entry info. The house has a very very strong odor. We thought that it would improve over our stay, but it did not. Chemically, moth ball, strange smell that permeated everything that we brought home. The master bedroom was the strongest. Otherwise, the house is great. Rooms were perfect for the number of people. Relatively clean. Plenty of towels. Beds in the extra bedroom and kids room had crummy mattresses. But the decor and supplies were good. Overall, we would not stay there again, due to the smell. Not sure what it is, but I’m not wanting that in a vacation.

Not What We Were Expecting

We frequent VRBO's 3-4 times a year without issue, but this time was very different. The listing photos don't reflect what the home actually looks like. Cabinets have been painted and countertops refinished which isn't a big deal, but the nice wood furniture has been replaced with metal Ikea quality furniture. The description states this is a newer home, it's a manufactured home and it's not new. Any single one of the below items wouldn't give me reason to complain, but there were so many little things that it made our stay very annoying: -Deck cluttered with boxes, ladders, dollies, and construction supplies covered with tarps. -Yard is cluttered with construction garbage, sleds, plastic swimming pools, broken floor lamp, broken chair. -Master bedroom was advertised as having a queen pillow top mattress, we got a full-sized hard mattress. -We had no hot water in the main bathroom tub/shower- the knob was broken and all 5 of us had to shower in the master bathroom. -Laundry room is cluttered with brooms, mops, buckets, etc. all on the floor and in the way of the washer/dryer. -Blinds are broken and dusty. -No cable TV or Satellite - be prepared to sign into your own Netflix or Hulu accounts. - Chewed gum left on the metal headboard in one of the bedrooms (no one would sleep in this room because of it). -Kitchen is cluttered and unorganized with paint and construction supplies stored in the cabinets. -No mixing bowl for cooking -Oven was disgustingly dirty -No garbage sacs in the kitchen to take out the trash - We had to supply our own. -Closets were full of clothes and random items including Christmas decorations. -We were only supplied with 3 washcloths for 5 people for 4 nights. -Dead batteries in the TV remote - We had to replace them. For what we paid, I would expect the owners to pay more attention to the details of their listing, their property, and the amenities in order to create a good user experience.

Very pleasent!

We are experienced VRBOers and have had the pleasure of staying in several excellent locations. This one is quite good. We were here mid June for 13 nights. Location The home is located near the 'end' of the community, off of main streets. There is very little transient traffic, other than people cruising around in their Polaris 4WDs. Across from the home is an empty lot, which allows for a climb/hike down to a forest access road and a dry (at the time) creek. Though this lot size is a bit wider, the surrounding lots are skinny, and the home to the north is VERY close. However, it was vacant during the entirety of our stay, and posed no issue. If it hadn't and we were using the deck, I feel like we would have been imposing on them. Check-In Simple check in with a coded suprakey box. Interior was nice and clean. Outside had some cobwebs and whatnot, and the patio furniture wasn't wiped down, and the cushions were stashed away. No big deal. There was, however, a smell. Over the course of our stay, we were able to determine that a small musky-smelling rodent (my father-in-law actually saw him in the vent) had gotten into the ductwork under the house. We covered the vents to the best of our ability, but it was both very cold (requiring heat) and warm (requiring AC) during our stay. We reported the smell, but nothing could be done during our stay. It wasn't a big deal during the day, as we had windows wide open and a nice breeze, but in the mornings when waking up, it was palpable. The owner did note that they cleaned the vents in the prior year, but rodents are masterful at getting into places they don't belong. There is a neighborhood skunk too. Kitchen Kitchen is well stocked. There was no mixing bowl, so we bought one at the store. There are your typical spices in the cupboard. Knives, as expected in every rental, need sharpening so bring a stone one if you're going to cook a lot (we cooked every day). The oven is an older gas stove, which worked well. Refrigerator runs cold, and will freeze your vegetables if you put them in the bottom for too long. The kitchen faucet didn't have hot water, but I believe that will be fixed quickly so it shouldn't be an issue. Bedrooms Beds are excellent. Master has a tuft & needle or something similar, which is what we have at home. Comfortable and homey. LOTS of blankets everywhere. Bathrooms Both bathrooms are builder-standard but are spacious and hot water is excellent.

Our Pandemic Style Thanksgiving Was Safe and Fun For the Family Here

We really enjoyed our stay at Jeffrey's home. We had 4 adults and two kids. We had ample space and hosted Thanksgiving together here. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for normal meals. We enjoyed the open space layout in the main rooms too. The large outdoor deck was great for the kids to play on and to sit on the porch swing and enjoy the pine trees and change of scenery. The home was recently renovated and they are doing a great job with it! We enjoyed smores and hot chocolate around the outdoor firepit, snowy walks in the quiet neighborhood, and exploring locally. If you decide to take the forest road over to Sedona (instead of taking main roads), make sure you have a car fully equipped for some crazy boulders to drive over. :) You will find stunning views of Sedona that you wouldn't otherwise find by taking this route though. Jeffrey was ridiculously fast in his responses and the customer experience with him has been very professional and responsible. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Family vacation

They was a little confusion on the day we checked in but Jeff and his daughter were amazing and took care of us as quickly as possible. The house and surrounding area were amazing. We definitely had a great time and felt comfortable while we were there. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great location, loved the layout of the house. Wish the master had a bigger bed. Needed more toiletries and toaster. The owner was great! Very quick to respond. Overall great.

Good for remote working

We came up to get out of the 115 degree days and work and play a little. The AC was great, we were comfortable working during the week. There aren't any desks, but we made due with the dining room table. The wifi worked fine, we never experienced any problem while working. We brought our dog and we're able to bike and hike from iron springs trailhead, which is less than a mile from the house. We made use of the porch and barbeque and enjoyed sitting out there. We brought our own food and used the kitchen. It had everything we needed. There are skunks in the neighborhood, so we always stayed with the dog and didn't let him wonder on his own. The property is not fenced, but the porch has a gate.

Great Getaway!

Quite calm and in the trees. We liked being at the far NE end of the Park as there was way less UTV traffic and much more quiet than other places we've stayed which were closer to the country club. Plenty of games and activities for the kids. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make ALL meals. The deck was great for outdoor dinners and coffee in the morning. We would recommend and will be staying again in the future.

Summer getaway

The house was clean and comfortable. Nice large kitchen with great appliances. Excellent internet and TV. The large deck was nice, but it lacked comfortable outdoor chairs and end tables. Overall we were pleased with our stay and will certainly consider a return visit.

Beautiful home, but horrible smell

I hate to leave this negative review because the property and neighborhood were absolutely beautiful. The problem was the overwhelming skunk smell that permeated the entire house. When we first arrived, we thought maybe it would be temporary since we were in the woods. We lit scented scandals that were provided in each room, ran the ceiling fans and sprayed the provided air freshener throughout. Unfortunately, the smell never went away. I don’t know if there are skunks under the house or if they sprayed around the house, but we couldn’t take it and ended up leaving early evening and drove to Flagstaff to find a hotel. Again, the house was beautiful and I wish we could have stayed there for our vacation, but unfortunately the smell drove us out.

Last minute vacation

Was able to get in quickly. Clean, Comfortable house with great porch. New Fridge! They also had a fire pit, hammock and swing set! We did have to sign in our own accounts for TV for the kiddos and we couldn’t find the remote. Stove unfortunately didn’t cook right but believe another one was going in since one was sitting on the deck. Area was great with the exception of the next store neighbors. Their porch looks towards this awesome deck and we could hear them talk clearly and vis versa.

Enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin with an awesome deck. The beds are very comfortable and there’s a lot of sitting room inside. My son enjoyed the play structure in the backyard and running the backyard. We did smell the odor that others have spoke (especially in the master bedroom area) of but we just spent a lot of time outside enjoying the weather and awesome deck. They have a few bird feeders so we were able to watch the hummingbirds, robins and blue jays come by. The ceiling fans on the patio are also a nice addition to help when it was a little warm during the day. The neighborhood is great, we walked around every evening and most of the neighbors are so friendly.

The home was beautiful, well stocked with things we needed. Even a bandaid I needed. The atmosphere was serene, the wind thru the trees relaxed us as waves from the ocean which were our previous experiences. Overall, we’d like to do this again

As a semi-retired Land Surveyor the spacious extra 1/2 lot gives me the room to enjoy that much more of the wonderful forest surrounding my home. I enjoy seeing the many birds, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, deer and sometimes elk that pass through the neighborhood. While not seen often, the forest has turkey, bear and mountain lion as well. The climate change from the short drive north from the Salt River Valley along with the wind whispering in the pines is transforming. My children and now my grandchildren share the beauty of the Munds Park Family Retreat. We love it year around!

Many people live in Munds year around. Many others only vacation there for summer months as we did. I could bring the family up in late May after school was out and they could spend the entire summer while I would spend 3 to 4 nights and commute to work in the Valley. We also enjoyed weekend trips in the fall for site seeing and in the winter for sledding or skiing. Now we share it with you as our Vacation rental home.

The Munds Park Community is strong and a place where you can still find friends and neighbors helping each other. There are no mega malls or annoying traffic jams but if you miss city life, or really need to buy something, Flagstaff is just 20 minutes North along I-17. In Flag you can find any type of shopping (big box, mom & pop, chain, specialty, etc.), banking, services, and entertainment.
