Enjoy morning strolls on Craigville Beach or Long Beach, both just steps away. Launch your kayak from the backyard down the saltwater inlet w/easy, quick, direct access to Nantucket Sound. Bike to the center of Osterville for galleries, restaurants and a charming downtown. Or check out local Centerville favorites, including Four Seas Ice Cream and Craigville Pizza. Enjoy an evening BBQ in the backyard as the sunsets behind the river, where we often see heron and osprey. Or, stay inside and enjoy the peace and quiet of our beloved, whimsical Cape Cod cottage, equipped with everything you need for a great week away.

Whimsy & Ocean Air

We loved The Shrimp! The location can't be beat. Two beaches are within easy walking distance. And the house itself is charming, distinctive and filled with art. The owners were responsive and helpful. We hope to stay again and soon!

Perfect family vacation!

The Shrimp was a perfect little getaway for a family of four! It has a great location on a wonderful street. Steve was a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. My family can’t wait to come back next year!

Beach Getaway

Great stay in Centerville

Wonderful stay at “The Shrimp” cottage. One of the best streets in Centerville. The beach down the street is a hidden gem. Great cottage for small kids- our 6 and 4 year old had endless fun exploring crabs at the little beach in the back of the house. Bring your paddle board!

simple cottage, pleasant stay

We love this location and the owners are very communicative. We were grateful for the air conditioning. We brought bikes and enjoyed riding up and down Long Beach Road. Thank you, Steve and Debbie!

Perfect get away!

So close to the beach you don’t have to move your car at all! Cute little vacation place, perfect for a single person or couple. Perfect get away. Town was nice and quiet not full of tourists. Everyone was nice, loved it and will be back!

Wonderful Week in The Shrimp

My husband and I stayed for a week with our 2.5 year old daughter. The cottage was even better in person! It was the perfect size for 3-4 people, extremely clean and had everything we needed for a week away. We have now stayed in the Osterville/Centerville area of the cape for three summers in a row and this is by far the best location we have stayed. Long Beach is our favorite beach and it was only a short walk (about 8 mins). Craigville is also very nice and just across the street. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, with or without kids, this location and cotttage is perfection! The backyard was incredible, with a river great for kids and sunset views. Steve, the owner, was also wonderful… making sure we were able to check in and everything went smoothly. We hope to stay next summer again! My daughter keeps asking to return to the Shrimp!

My review

Steve & Debbie were responsive & helpful. The view of the tidal river in the back is priceless, every day. Not even a five-minute walk from Craigville Beach, which is nice. Very quiet location. Unfortunatelyy, the cottage (more of a glorified shanty) was not up to standards at all. Washer & dryer broken, grill barely lights, no access for us to canoe or get to the river as advertised, main bedroom smelling of some kind of decomposition, and (the most disappointing) was the general state of disrepair and absolute filth. Couches, pillows, blankets, chairs & carpets looked like a murder had taken place. We could not wash anything because the advertised washer/dryer were not working. I was so uncomfortable there, I drove home to Boston or a nearby friend's house most nights. I guess it's a good base for day trips to the beach, but not really to use as a functional house. I don't mean this as a negative review (I have never left one), but rather an honest assessment. I guess buyer beware be at VRBO has no guest protection for anything like this, sine it's not an emergency and the place is habitable.

Unbeatable location

My family very much enjoyed our stay at the "Shrimp." The location is ideal, and it is a great spot to bike to Long Beach and take in the picturesque Cape views. The cottage was charming and as portrayed in the pictures. The view of the river was great and the kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking tools needed for a great week!

Fun visit to cape!

My husband and I and our two boys (ages 2 and 5) enjoyed our week at The Shrimp! Steve checked in immediately upon arrival to make sure everything was okay. The bay access and crab hunting was a great activity in between trips to the beach. Thanks for having us!

Relaxing space

Steve and Debra are great hosts, they make check-in easy, always check in to see how you're doing and avail themselves to questions if any arise (they usually don't because they're so studious about keeping their renters in the loop!) Wonderful Stay

Our family of 4 enjoyed our week at The Shrimp. The house was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The short walk to the beach was perfect. The easy access to the river from the backyard allowed us to have fun kayaking and fishing. We also enjoyed some beautiful sunsets over the river in the backyard.

Great location

Very comfortable home and the perfect size for my family of three. The location was great, we could walk to two beautiful beaches. It was very convenient to have an outside shower. Behind the house was a trail that led to the marsh waterway. We had fun catching crabs and kayaking. Thank you Steve and Debra!

Great location on river and walk to 2 beaches within minutes

We enjoyed our stay. The house is as described and very clean. It was also well stocked with paper towels, etc. We took advantage of the easy river access through the path in back yard. Both Craigville Beach and Long Beach were within a short walk. It was nice having use of the beach chairs provided with the house. Check in was very easy and Steve responsive to questions. The week was overcast but aside from the weather this is a great location and comfortable house. Perfect for a couple or small family. I would recommend.

The Shrimp - A Slice of Heaven

Wonderful

This was our second year renting The Shrimp. The house is cute and the perfect size for our young family of four. The location is wonderful- close to two beaches and shopping. We had a small issue at the beginning of our stay, but Steve quickly responded and remedied the situation. We look forward to next summer!

Effortless and smooth

Steve reached out a few days prior to our arrival and ensured we had all the necessary info for an effortless and smooth check in and stay. Cottage was super clean and so pretty.
