BIRD'S EYE VIEW - PENTHOUSE LIVING AT BEACHPLACE ON LONGBOAT KEY

Welcome to Bird’s Eye View, our penthouse home at Beachplace on beautiful Longboat Key. There are vacation rentals you visit once. And then there are places that become part of your life.

We hope Bird’s Eye View becomes the latter.

My husband and I have been coming to Beachplace since we were kids, spending family vacations on the powder-white sands of Longboat Key. After all these years, this is still one of our favorite places in the world and Building 5 has always been our favorite location at Beachplace.

When we found this penthouse, we knew we had found our place.

𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗡 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
The experience begins before you even open the front door. As you arrive, you’re greeted by views across Sarasota Bay toward the downtown Sarasota skyline. Then you open the door — and there it is.

That famous turquoise water becomes the backdrop view from the living room, dining room, kitchen and primary bedroom. Floor-to-ceiling double sliders open the living space and primary suite to our oversized penthouse balcony, where the sound of the Gulf has a wonderful way of making everything else disappear.

Morning coffee overlooking the water. Long walks on the beach. Afternoons by the pool. Dinner at St. Armands. A glass of wine on the balcony as the sun disappears into the Gulf.

At night, the view changes completely. The water turns dark, moonlight reflects across the Gulf and the palms twinkle below.

Even after all these years, we never get tired of it.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘
One of the reasons we love the penthouse units at Beachplace is the outdoor space. The penthouse balconies are approximately twice the size of those on the floors below, giving you a true outdoor living area with plenty of room to relax, read, enjoy dinner or have cocktails with friends.

And we’ve created a little morning ritual we especially love.

The primary bedroom opens directly onto the balcony, so you can wake up, make a Nespresso without even leaving the bedroom, slide open the doors and take your coffee outside while everyone else is still sleeping. We put a Nespresso machine in the primary suite for exactly that reason.

Once you do it a few times, it’s very difficult to go back to ordinary mornings.

𝗔 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛 — 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔 𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞
Beachplace is an extended-stay community, and that’s one of the things we love most about it. You’re not rushing to experience Longboat Key in five days. You have time to unpack, settle in and actually live here.

Bird’s Eye View offers approximately 1,400 square feet with two bedrooms, two full baths and TWO KING BEDS, making it especially comfortable for a couple, two couples, or grandparents who want room for visiting family.

The primary suite overlooks the Gulf and opens directly onto the balcony. It features a king bed, Smart TV, ensuite bath, generous closet space and our bedside Nespresso station.

The second bedroom also has a king bed, Smart TV, two generous closets, ensuite bath access and a beautiful view across Sarasota Bay toward downtown Sarasota.

No one gets the “second bedroom” experience here.

The living room is designed for actually living, not simply looking good in photographs. There is comfortable seating for relaxing or entertaining, a Smart TV and, of course, that incredible Gulf view.

The bright, fully equipped kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, updated cabinetry and everything you need to prepare a great dinner at home. The dining table comfortably seats four and expands to accommodate six when friends join you.

The condo also has its own washer and dryer, high-speed internet, quality linens and towels, and the everyday comforts that matter when you’re staying for a month rather than a weekend.

And yes, if work occasionally follows you to Longboat Key, your Zoom background will be real. We have high-speed internet throughout the condo and even an electrical outlet on the balcony if your idea of an office includes the Gulf of Mexico.

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗦
Guests often ask us how long it takes to walk from our condo to the beach.

So we timed it.

Less than three minutes.

Walk downstairs, follow the beautifully maintained resort walkway past the pool and you’re on one of the most beautiful stretches of powder-white sand on Longboat Key. Beachplace provides chaise lounges and umbrellas right on the beach, so there’s no need to haul beach equipment back and forth. There are four beach-access ramps with shower stations for rinsing off the sand and salt when you return.

During turtle season, you may even be lucky enough to experience one of Longboat Key’s most magical sights — a sea turtle nest hatching and tiny hatchlings making their way toward the Gulf.

We’ve seen it.

It’s incredible.

Beachplace sits on approximately 31 beautifully landscaped Gulf-front acres and has the feeling of a private residential resort rather than a transient vacation complex.

Amenities include:

But the amenity you’ll probably use most doesn’t require a reservation.

The beach.

Walk it in the morning. Read under an umbrella in the afternoon. Come upstairs for lunch. Go back down for sunset.

There’s no hurry.

Bird’s Eye View is located on the southern end of Longboat Key, which gives us exactly what we want from island life.

At home, it’s peaceful, private and wonderfully removed from the mainland. Yet St. Armands Circle and downtown Sarasota’s restaurants, boutiques, galleries, theaters and extraordinary arts and cultural scene are only minutes away.

Over the course of a month, something happens.

You find your favorite restaurant.

Your morning beach route.

The place you like to stop for coffee.

Your favorite chairs at the pool.

Maybe a tennis or pickleball group.

You start recognizing people.

And eventually you stop feeling like you’re vacationing on Longboat Key.

You start feeling like you live here.

Perhaps the most important thing to know about Bird’s Eye View is that it isn’t simply a rental property to us.

Longboat Key has been part of our lives since childhood. We’ve vacationed here, brought our own family here and made more memories here than we could possibly count.

That’s why we care about the little things.

We want good beds and comfortable furniture. A kitchen with the things you actually need. Plenty of nice towels. A coffee machine exactly where we’d want one. A home that feels clean, cared for and welcoming when you arrive.

We spend time here ourselves, so we want Bird’s Eye View to feel like a real home — because it is.

Some of our favorite guests are the ones who settle in, discover their own Longboat Key traditions and, before they leave, ask us the question we love hearing:

Can we have this same month again next year?”

That’s exactly what we hope Bird’s Eye View becomes for you — not simply somewhere you rented for a month, but your place on Longboat Key that you look forward to returning to year after year.

**PLEASE NOTE: Rates shown on the calendar are MONTHLY RATES.**

Beachplace is an extended-stay community and allows one rental per 28-day period.

Applicable taxes are additional. There is a one-time $200 post-stay cleaning fee and a $250 administration fee. Additional housekeeping during your stay can be arranged as often as you’d like for an additional fee.

Please note that Beachplace permits condominium renovation work during the May through November off-season, as is common in many Florida condominium communities. Our off-season rates reflect this possibility.

Reservations are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, we cannot hold dates without a confirmed reservation.
