As close to the beach as you can get! Melonheads is a family friendly rental and has an open concept Living-Dining-Kitchen area with vaulted ceilings and breathtaking views of the ocean and beautiful beach with floor to ceiling windows. Dining Table seats 6-8 and large island seats 6. (12-14 total dining seats available) Fully equipped kitchen for those that like to stay in and make the most of your time at the beach. You will not want to miss out on this beautiful home!
There are four bedrooms on the main floor with 2.5 bathrooms: The east wing has a full bathroom and 2 bedrooms: King Bedroom and Queen /Twin bunk bedroom . The west wing has a full bathroom and 2 bedrooms: King Bedroom and King Bedroom. Upstairs you will find one Master Bedroom with views of the beach. Includes a King Bed and sitting area, and a large master bathroom with separate tub and shower.
There are four covered parking spaces at the front of the house and a large deck beneath the house that looks out onto the ocean. This makes for a fantastic area to dine, play games and relax in the shade. This area also features a fully functioning outdoor shower with hot and cold water.
Located in the desirable beach community of Surf Side Shores, just past the renowned World Class Kiva Dunes Golf course! Very close to a small local grocery/hardware/liquor and seafood shop when you don't want to drive into Gulf Shores. However, you are only 20 minutes to big chain grocery stores and restaurants. The best of both worlds. All the amenities but you are far enough away from the crowds to claim this as your own little piece of heaven.
Available for Saturday to Saturday weekly rental in the peak summer months. Minimum 4 days rental during other months, and please call if you have interest in monthly rental. No student groups are accepted at all, renters must be over 25 years to rent and prior to arrival we require a copy of the license of the person booking. Sorry, No Pets allowed and no smoking.

Pretty much perfect!!

We had the best time at the Melonheads Beach House! Great location, rooms and beds were so cozy and comfortable and the hosts couldnā€™t have been more accommodating. Our grandchildren LOVED all the toys too. Lots of memories were made and we canā€™t wait to go back!!

Great beachfront stay

This property is located on a quiet stretch of beach, far away from the touristy areas. We had 11 in our party and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in and there was plenty of space for everyone. This is a great place for extended family to enjoy time together. We even had our groceries delivered by Instacart so we didnā€™t have to leave the beach.

Family fun at the beach

Plenty of space including a really nice sitting/eating area under the house, itā€™s shady and the ocean breeze keeps it cool. Lots of beach toys for the kids located in a storage room under the house. This is our 3rd year to stay here and we will be back!

Wonderful beachfront home!

We went for spring break with our family of six adults and two elementary school aged kids. We had a wonderful time being ON THE BEACH and staying in this lovely home. We had perfect weather and enjoyed being able to get the most possible beach time in by being steps away from the sand and ocean! Kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need and we were glad to have an ice machine for coolers and cocktails. We will for sure be going back!

Family vacay

This tripped checked one item off my bucket list! Iā€™ve always wanted to stay in a beach house with my adult children and grandchildren. We had a blast! This home has it all. You practically don't need to bring anything other than your clothes and food. The setup of the property was perfect. And the location can't be beat. Steps from the beach. There's all sorts of beach items to use. We will definitely be back soon.

Great location

This was the perfect home and location for our family (six adults and four children). It is away from the huge condos so the beach is not overcrowded. It was wonderful setting on the shaded deck seeing and listening to the surf. And, there is a gentle slope so the kids could get quite a ways from shore without getting very deep. There is one problem, it will spoil you. We all agreed that this was our best vacation ever!

Everyone was pleased with our stay, the short walk to the beach was fantastic. The house gave us room to gather or seek some privacy. The kitchen was well equipped, and the washer and dryer was a huge plus. The only thing lacking was a lift for getting luggage etc. up the steps, thanks to our grandkids it worked for us, but may not work for others. Overall wonderful trip and beach house.

A Thanksgiving to Remember

We had a small family reunion for Thanksgiving in Gulf Shores. We came from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Tennessee. We watched both sunrise and sunset over the water from the same deck. We were able to swim and walk out to sandbars the week of Thanksgiving - something unheard of in the states we all came from (in fact, many of us returned to snow!) The kitchen was AMAZINGLY well stocked! And large enough to allow multiple people to prepare their dishes at the same time. We had a great time - and I'm sure anyone reading this will too!

Relaxing Holiday

We were 3 couples enjoying a 4 night stay in March. The house is beautiful with fabulous views of the ocean, large open spaces and a king bed and private bath for each couple. The house is in a quiet area and easy driving distance to Gulf Shores and the Dauphin Island Ferry. Gorgeous beaches and a wildlife preserve nearby for walking and birding. We watched lots of dolphins swimming each morning while eating breakfast. Relaxing upper and lower decks face the ocean. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, clean and airy. Plenty of games, books and DVDs on site for guests to enjoy. Reasonably priced for the location. We were thrilled with our stay. Perfect for medium to large groups.

Convenient location

Location is wonderful. Literally steps from the ocean and the space below deck was lovely for early morning coffee while enjoying the views. Unfortunately the house was not ready upon arrival. We had to wait 2 hours for the housekeeper to finish which was hard after nearly a 12 hour drive. We understand things happen but wished we could have at least been notified of the delay.

Beach front was beautiful, enjoyed private beach and Fort Morgan location. Property has maintenance issues: Gutter down on deck Dishwasher had cleaning issues Wall separating living room from bedrooms showed evidence of prolonged water damage Mold smell, DampRid around the inside of house Railing on deck loose & unsafe Keurig did not work No grout in tile throughout house. One shower could not use, afraid of falling through floor Furniture on bottom deck rusted through We picked property because of all the great reviews? We were very disappointed, would not stay again.

Melonheads rocks!

If you are looking for an accommodating stay right on the ocean, look no further. You cannot go wrong with this house. It was sparkling clean, with everything in working order. We came with our family ate most of our meals in house. The kitchen is fully stocked. The ice maker is a fabulous bonus and kept up with our use all week. There is an abundance of cookware and dishes, something lacking in homes we have stayed in previously. Plenty of blankets and pillows. We appreciated the high chair, and there was even a portable crib. The outdoor shower is nice and gets really hot! Assortment of beach toys and a couple of folding chairs. The deck is a really nice feature to escape the sun but still be outdoors, and it has amazing chairs. We had no complaints about this home. There were a few lights out, which we told the owners upon our departure. We would absolutely stay here again!

We have been making beach trips together since 1988. We have been to many beaches of Florida and Alabama but after bringing our family to this area for years, we finally decided we wanted to own a little slice of heaven too. We have taken notes on what we enjoyed most about all the other rentals we stayed in and are striving to make this a well equipped house that showcases all the fun a family can have here.
This isn't just a rental, this is our second home and we spend a lot of time here so we are looking for families that will be respectful and treat it well.

We love Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan and feel comfortable here. We always dreamed of having our own place and knew there were certain amenities we wanted in a beach house to accommodate how we "beach". We fell in love with this house immediately. We looked at quite a few over the course of a full year before choosing this home. We travel with my husbands brother and his family every year so finding a house that had space for all of us was important. It didn't have to be huge, it just needed to be "family friendly" because our kids are now giving us grandkids! We wanted an entertaining space that the whole family could hang out and this open concept living/dining/kitchen was a start. But honestly it was when we stepped on the deck that is under the house that really cinched the deal. It is a large entertaining space with fantastic views, picnic tables, chairs, grill, outdoor shower and shade. We can play corn hole here, listen to music, dance and have dinner while listening to the waves. The kitchen is large enough for all of us to gather and make our special dinners that we do and seating for all of us, too!

With 5 bedrooms there is space for a good group. Each room has either a king or queen bed and there isn't a "bunk room" but there is a bunk in one of the queen rooms. We opted to not have fold out couches because really who wants to sleep on one of those?! 3.5 bathroom plus an enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water means that getting ready to go out is a breeze. There is an ice maker so you never run out of ice for all those beachy beverages. We stocked the kitchen with crockpots, blenders, coffee makers, food processor, toaster, dishes and cookware for whatever you need. We have a storage room with a few beach chairs and toys that you welcome to use, just please return them. Leave something if you don't want to carry it back home so that next renter can enjoy it. There is a Weber grill, Please be careful of the coals. There are many games and puzzles in the living room cabinet. We have provided sofa covers in the bottom drawer of the TV entertainment center...if you are like some of our group, and you know you are likely to spill...feel free to use the covers!
