Potomac River Getaway at McKays Beach

1930's remodeled 2 bedroom, 1 bath beach cottage. Sleeps 6. Two twin beds, one queen and a queen size hide-a-bed. Dishwasher, washer and dryer. Views of the river from most windows. 2 hours from Baltimore and 1 1/2 hrs from Washington DC, this locations offers the opportunity for many natural and cultural experiences. Located near the first capital of Maryland, St. Mary's city, historic Colonial and Civil War sites and memorial, and the United States Naval Test Center, St. Mary's county offers something for everyone. This is an excellent sandy beach for SUP and kayaks. Fish off the beach or paddle out into the river. Local marinas offer boat launching facilities. A list of near by restaurants, markets, shops, hiking trails and museums are provided.

The house/host exceeded our expectations! Lori and Scott are fantastic hosts and live right next door. The sunset views are amazing and the house is well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again. There are fantastic, affordable dining options.

Wonderful, restful and beautiful stay.

This is the 4th time we come and we love it just as much as the first time. A great escape from Washington DC for a few days with such an amazing and peaceful view on the Chesapeake Bay.

Peaceful and Beautiful Stay

This was our third trip to the Potomac River Getaway and it was just as wonderful as the past two times! It’s so beautiful and relaxing, and Lauri and Scott are perfect hosts. Our family loves it. The beach is perfect for the kids there are plenty of things to do in the area! We plan to return again and again!

Peaceful getaway

The cool ac and the clean home was a great introduction to our stay! The house was very nice and clean also well stocked. Lauri and Scott were both great hosts. We loved relaxing fishing kayaking and more on the Potomac river.

Above and beyond expectations! We have stayed in many VRBO's and this is only the second time that the property was much better than we expected. The pictures do not do the cottage justice. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. Many thoughtful extras were provided. The water is just a few feet from the back door and the sunset pictured on site is what we arrived to that evening. Only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer.

Weekend getaway

Quaint home with great views of the river. Clean and well taken care of. Owners live next door and we’re very accommodating. Would highly recommend this for a nice getaway.
