Hello Caroline, Thank you for your reservation and for staying with us for your trip to Costa Rica. We are happy that you had a wonderful holiday with us in beautiful Playa Carrillo. Indeed, our house is on two floors, the ground floor with all the living areas and the tv room, which is also a bedroom with a complete bathroom, this is our multi-function room that can be adapted for many different traveler needs. The 2nd floor is reserved for the four large bedrooms each with it’s ensuite bathroom. The five bedrooms, including the one with the television, are equipped with the latest generation air conditioning system. As we live almost all the time outside in Costa Rica, it is usual that the living areas such as the living room, the dining room and the kitchen are open to the outside without air conditioning. Our homes design was thought for enjoying the outdoors and having a private air conditioned space that you can retreat to when desired, the home is opened in the front and all of the ocean side creating a natural “cooling” with the flow of the ocean air. You are correct in stating that we only have one tv, the big one downstairs. Our guest usually come with their devises and log onto their favorite app for their screen time. The tv room is usually used for entertaining the kids in the evening this is why it’s our multi function room with bunks. I am surprised about the holes in our screen doors because they are maintained daily by Roidy our maintenance guy. He did explain that sometimes guest don’t see that the screens are closed and walk into them by mistake. He usually repairs them right away but he is also very discreet by keeping to only exterior garden work away from the house when we have guest. Sonia our precious caretaker who lives in her apartment below the house is always very discreet also. Her tasks involve preparing breakfast, cleaning your rooms, maintaining the common areas and making a sure you have a clean supply of towels. Guests can choose to let us know if they prefer not having her provide these tasks if preferred. Most people love having her around to do some typing up and serving her lovely breakfast. The only other person allowed on the property is our gardener Roidy who (as mentioned above) takes care of the outdoor areas, cleans and checks the pool daily. During your stay, there was a storm and the electricity in the village was cut. We have chosen the solar system as a backup rather than a very noisy generator. This backup is put in place directly after a few seconds and allows you to have all the “necessary” lighting as well as the Internet (fiber) which continues to function. Unfortunately you were there during this storm with a general outage. We are located at the end of a long unpaved road that follows the coastline. We always suggest that guests rent 4x4’s as Costa Rica has many unpaved roads and depending on the time of year, like the “rainy season” it is very handy to have a 4x4. Our road is well maintained and is used regularly by people with regular “sedan” style cars. We hope to have you back again soon and we wish you all the best! Kindly, France
