Brand new beach-chic bliss awaits you at this rare and impeccably crafted modern beach cottage. High ceilings, ocean hues and the trade wind flow create an open breezy feel. On warmer days the new split system AC will assure your cool comfort.

Ku'au Ko is located 1 mile from Boho hip Paia Town and Maui's best beaches, shops, dining (Mama's Fish House) and a vast array of activities. Every detail of Ku'au Ko is designed for maximum comfort and convenience Maui style. Shower off the salt & sand in the outdoor shower and grab some fresh aloe from the yard to soothe any over exposure.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook full meals including drip coffee maker, blender, rice maker, cookware, spices, condiments and more. Throw a fresh catch or Maui Cattle co. beef on the BBQ right outside your door. The spacious covered lanai is ideal for outdoor dining or pupus (appetizers) and cocktails after the day's adventure.

We provide bath and beach towels, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, body lotion, a hairdryer and iron. You have a washer/dryer and the North shore has a casual laid back vibe so you can pack light.

Fantastic Beach Cottage

We had such an amazing stay at Kelly & Shawn’s beach cottage. So close to town and the beach. The home had everything we needed. They provide all of the beach gear you need. We love Paia so much and can’t wait to return and stay here again.

Great location for travelers who want to be near Paia. Very comfortable property.

We used this as home base while we explored the North side of Maui . Paia is a gem of a city and we love the many restaurants so near by . Might consider new bedding , but otherwise everything was great

Great stay on north shore Maui!

We loved our stay at Kuau ko - it was the perfect spot to come back to after adventures around Maui. Shawn and Kelly couldn't have been more hospitable and friendly. The house is really clean and well designed to accommodate us for our week there. Loved cooking in the great kitchen. Loved it!

Thank you Kelly and Shawn - your house was the best and you both, hands down, are the most welcoming holiday rental hosts we have ever met. If you are looking for a modern, well equipped house in a calm and relaxed part of Maui then Kuau Ko is the place. As a family of 4 - with 2 teenaged boys - the house had plenty of space, was close to great restaurants and perfectly located for easy access to everything that made for a very memorable holiday in Hawaii.

Charming!

The cottage was perfect. Airy and light. Clean. Well stocked with everything you might need for the beach. The location was a perfect jumping off point for Hana, the crater, and all the great beaches near Pa'ia. We loved being in a neighborhood as opposed to a row of condos. The property manager was very responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

Super host and great location

The house was clean and well organized, stocked with things we needed. She even had a first aide kit that I’ve never seen in any other airbnb I’ve been to. I actually had to use it so it saved us a trip to the pharmacy. This location was quite convenient, too. Kelly was very accommodating and responsive. She’s also pleasant to talk to. Highly recommend!

Beautiful property, Very noisy location

This is a very candid review substantiated with photographs. We had hopes for a relaxing, peaceful location. Pros: Proximity to Paia, beaches. Beautiful structure! Cons: Very noisy! Gravel driveways for multiple properties immediately abut the front and rear of rental. Vehicles in and out during night. Small dog at neighbors directly adjacent to property yapped the entire stay. Renter in front unit chirped car alarm nightly when returning (once at 3:00 am). The smaller rental in front is very close. Their lights shine directly into this unit. There are no window coverings on this unit in the sitting/kitchen area, so there is no privacy due to the front rental unit looking directly in. The front unit does have a pull down shade covering on the exterior windows. Smoke detector/alarm was taped up with black duct tape in bedroom. (?) On the last day when I retrieved an item dropped behind the bed, discovered someone's eye blinders, a used foam earplug, nasty dust/hair on the floor under the mattress which was on a wood slat frame. *** Photo's were taken of smoke detector concern, items/dirt under bed, lights from adjacent residence shining into unit.

Gina, we are sorry you had issues during your stay. We wish you would have brought them to our attention we most certainly have dealt promptly with the items within our control. The dog no longer yaps, he has a bark collar. We will communicate our concerns to the neighbors if Tama barks again. Yours is our first complaint about tenants in the smaller unit. We are extremely selective in who we allow on our property to assure our guests have the best experience possible. Sorry that happened. We ordered blinds for the entry side of Ku'au Ko. I will speak to the cleaners. We have only had 5 star cleaning reviews in the past so must have been a rare oversight. Would have appreciated knowing these things when they occurred. We would have rectified them and offered you a gift card. The tape on the smoke detector was to cover the light which was bothering guests. The smoke detector is fully operational. I would have rated your communication 2 stars and overall 3 stars had I known you would fail to communicate your concerns during our stay and then write a harsh review. Please email me the photos, I don't see them here. I'd like to pass them on the the head cleaner. Mahalo

Adorable cottage in great location!

This cottage is perfectly located -- tucked back from the road, but only 4 block walk to the beach and a 1-mile walk into town. Plenty of beach provisions are provided, and the bedroom layout is perfect for some privacy.

Misleading photos regarding location

We paid a premium to stay here based on the awesome photos. The house in general is nice but needs an interior paint job, the two bedrooms are small and do not have closets, the small armoire’s are too small for two adults. The photos of the house leads you to believe it is a quaint location with lots of privacy, this is not the case. It is on a very busy highway and the house is just one amongst a cluster of houses, all of which are very close together. Walk out your front door and there is another house 20 feet in front of you, the tiny back yard is where the shared laundry is, the plants in the backyard are a mess, with dead foliage and garbage littered around. The house to your right is being renovated, behind you is a new construction happening but only in the evenings. Paia town is very busy and has lots of homeless people on the street and in their ‘tent city’, derelict and abandoned vehicles are all over the island, lots have been burned out and they just leave them there on the shoulder of the road. Many locals are not friendly to tourist.

We had a great experience in Paia at this cute bungalow. Owners were helpful and responsive, very personable. The home had everything we needed, super comfortable and cozy. Close to town and beaches. Would love to stay again.

Quaint Getaway Spot

Nice, quiet and quaint spot, out of the touristy areas. Convenient location to many things and nearby towns. Window coverings in the common areas would help keep the place cooler during the day when visitors are away and the house is closed up. The bedroom AC units had a hard time keeping up, but according to the news, the island had record highs during our stay. Appreciated the pitcher of cold filtered water in the fridge!

Loved this place!!!

We had such a great experience staying here! We traveled with our young children and there were plenty of beach gear and sand toys and kids fins. The owner was so pleasant to communicate with. Everything was clean and tidy. All the essentials were there including shampoo, conditioner, towels, paper towels, utensils, pots, pans, and even condiments of all sorts to use with our cooking. We especially loved the floor plan with the two bedrooms on either side of the house. It felt very private. And the huge porch was so nice to just sit on it there was an early morning drizzle and have a cup of coffee. We loved the easy access off Hana Hwy. We could easily get to all locations, and shops. We will certainly be back in the future!

Perfect Home Base for A Taste of Maui Life

My husband and I stayed at this home for a week-long Maui vacation in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. It is the best maintained VRBO home we've ever stayed in. Everything the description listed was provided, and more. Although it is close to other houses, it is private and quiet, though you will naturally will hear the constant North Shore wind blowing through the landscape, and birds. Before we arrived, we received prompt, accurate answers to our detailed questions formulated while packing for the trip. Upon arrival, we were greeted by owner Shawn, who has deep roots in the area, and he briefed us about the house and gave us the lowdown on where to get the best local food (including the freshest fish) and groceries, and advice on getting to the closest beaches. He answered texts when we had questions, but otherwise left us alone as we preferred. This location was great for driving forays all around the island and sampling great Maui restaurants. The home was also stocked with the equipment we needed for cooking and grilling our own food, spending days on the beaches, watching the smart TV, and just hanging out comfortably. Mahalo Shawn and Kelly for providing this home base in paradise for our relaxation.

Fabulous home in Lahaina. The home was spacious, clean and updated. The porch was fun!

Shawn is an excellent host. Home was appointed with every possible amenity including a washer and dryer. We really enjoyed our visit and recommend this place.

Beautiful Place!

We had an excellent stay at Kelly and Shawn's beautiful spot! Everything was as advertised except they didn't mention being treated to beautiful birdsong in the morning. :) We wanted for nothing and the one time we needed something they were quick to respond. It's located super close to Paia and we felt more like a local staying here than elsewhere on the island. Highly recommend!!
