Spacious Lakeview Log Cabin is located in the Gates of Shanghai

This beautiful 3000-square-foot cabin rests in the back of a secluded cove with a gorgeous view of beautiful Lake Norris in the private Shanghai Homeowners Association. For all of you that despise steps, this is the house for you. Parking is conveniently located very near the boat dock, making the walk with all those coolers and extras a piece of cake. The drive to the dock only takes a few short minutes from the house. Our dock is private and can fit 2 good size boats with the addition of a couple jet skis. Your boats are safe and can stay in the water during your entire stay. Don't feel concerned about traffic because you’re inside the gates of a private community.

This five bedroom, three level home offers many extras. Four bedrooms have one queen bed in each room and in the loft bedroom there are two full beds and two single beds. With the spacious living area it offers, it makes a great home to party with friends and family. The pool table located in the loft makes for fun filled evenings.The covered and wrap around deck with our unique tiki torch setting makes for beautiful evening socials.Parking? No problem. Plenty of parking for all your vehicles and trailers at the house. Additional trailer parking is also available in areas in our association.

Great Location

Family enjoyed their stay and son and grandson (4) loved fishing from boat dock before and after a long day of boating. House was close to many docks for lunch and dinner.

Family vacation

This property met our needs. It was nice to have all of the bedrooms. There was also a nice sized table to eat at. A few things to know is that you have to bring your own towels, you cannot walk to the dock, there is no fire pit. It is well supplied with dishes and has two refrigerators and two sitting areas.

Great Stay

Property looks exactly like pictures posted but with an extra bed downstairs. Plenty of room to even set up air mattress if needed. Having 2 full size refrigerators was definitely great. Had to drive to boat dock in a beautiful gated community even the boat dock required a key card to get in and out definitely felt safe. Boat dock did fit our 2 pontoons one of them was rented from Sugar Hallow marina, they delivered to the dock. Shanghai Marina was even closer maybe 10 minutes from Lake dock on the water to Marina. Eric was a great host he definitely checked on us just to make sure everything was going good on property a few times. Definitely would stay here again.

Quiet Retreat, Lake View, Short Drive to Dock

Norris Lake is amazing and we enjoyed our stay. The house was clean with spacious rooms and two fridges (which is great since we knew groceries were a drive to the main hwy). The dock was spacious and tucked at the back of the cove. Mind you, there is a drive to the dock and if you are trailering a boat you will need to walk the long drive or have someone who is great at backing a trailer to retrieve the parking passes. Not an issue for us but a good thing to know. A golf cart or side by side would have been great for getting back and forth but our crew fit in one vehicle to get to the dock. This house had a cool view of the lake. It sits up high in the trees/neighborhood and has a cabin feel. Best of both worlds. The house is so close to Shanghai marina, less than a 20 minutes to the swimming cave and jumping rock, and less than 40 down to the wider part of the lake on a surf boat going 23.

Overall Bad Experience

Overall bad experience. Property manager not familiar with property and difficult to contact. Key not present at check in. Gate code changed mid weekend without notice. I would not book if you are planning to use and dock a boat.

The property owner and I wanted to clear up some inconsistencies regarding this review. The check-in process has been observed for 10 years and possibly 100+ reservations and to our knowledge has never had an issue until now. For whatever reason, the key was missing and that is totally unacceptable. We understand the frustration this would cause. Within 6 minutes of their first phone call, we were in contact with their group and the situation was very quickly rectified. As for the use of our boat ramp and dock; our home is located in a private HOA secured by a gate. Also, the road leading to the boat ramp and dock is protected by another gate as well. Our dock is closest to the HOA boat ramp and is located in a quiet cove that sees very little water traffic or wakes. There is ample parking for boat trailers and vehicles. Our family often uses the same amenities for our family boating vacations. Earlier this year, we replaced much of our flooring and have other planned improvements to enhance our customers’ experience. We hold ourselves to a high standard and want to give our customers confidence in us meeting their needs going forward.

The entire group enjoyed their stay. Lake during the day and fun at the house in the evenings. The house was as expected per the listing and Evan was very easy to communicate with prior to and during the visit.

Comfy cabin retreat

Nice cabin and dock

Evan was awesome to deal with. He responded quickly and was very helpful with our questions. We felt that everything was clean except the lower level couches. It states that it sleeps 16 but the couches did not have pull outs that we were aware of. Otherwise, enjoyed our stay! Thanks for renting your home out.

Space is great; some noise from upper alcove, which is open. Bedrooms are spacious, but double beds are a bit small for two adults. Bent window blinds and dressers are a bit rickety. Property is nice but needs some updating - lamps switches not all operating, so lamps need to be plugged and unplugged to work. Nice to have two refrigerators. Dock access is great, even though you have to drive. Kitchen cabinets need to be painted and furniture needs updating. Nice vacation spot but expected a bit more modernity for a property at this price. Trees should be trimmed outside so lake view is not obstructed at lower level. Property manager was accessible for access issues with codes, which happened more than once. Great parking.

The cabin was very clean and convenient to town for supplies.

The lake access is located just around the corner from the house so it was fairly convenient. The boat dock is safe and secured with a key card, so you have to work around coming and going to the dock. Not an issue if you are out on the lake the entire day. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Evan was great to work with and was responsive to questions.

good Experience

Nice location and privacy. Had trouble gaining entrance as key code to gate didn’t work. Had to wait for resident to come by and let us in. Took a while to contact manager for working code. Clean but having to bring own towels was inconvenient. That was a first. Beautiful lake, nice having private dock with easy access.

Nesteroff family reunion 2019

We had a wonderful time..the cabin was a perfect size for our family and their children. When we arrived there was a dead mouse in one of the downstairs bedrooms and mouse droppings in some of the dishes..there Were no towels so we had to go buy our own towels and tp and paper towels.. The beds were comfortable and the surrounding area and views were beautiful.

Great Place for a Family Vacation

We celebrated my father's 70th birthday. The house was beautiful and exactly as shown in the pictures. Before we went, we thought having the short drive to the dock might be a negative but it actually was perfect. We could drive down to the water and then walk over to the dock. Other houses we saw that had walkways to their docks required very long and steep inclines or many steps which would have been difficult for my father (and anyone elderly and/or with knee issues), so the very short drive was perfect. We all had a great time enjoying the beautiful views from the house.

Lake trip

The house was great and only a short car ride from a private dock. The kitchen was well stocked and house was clean. The view was gorgeous. The only downside is the noise from the loft. There is minimal insulation so it was really loud when people were walking above.

Perfect for 4 couples trip

The property was clean and spacious. We had 4 couples for a 4 night stay and the cabin had every amenity we could need. The commercial ice machine saved us at least $100 in ice on our trip. New owners are responsive and made sure all our questions were answered immediately. We will definitely stay here again
