Amazing Views From Beachfront Unit In the Heart of the Indiana Dunes

Our Duneland Rentals cottages are located on the beach in the heart of the Indiana Dunes. Our charming 2-bedroom beach rental sleeps up to 5 guests. From the rental you can watch fabulous sunsets over majestic Lake Michigan, listen to waves lap against the shore and explore the miles of hiking trails in the Indiana Dune National Park and the Indiana Dunes State Park. During the day enjoy the provided kayaks, paddleboards and other beach toys. In the evening stargaze while roasting marshmallows over a campfire. Chicago is just one hour away by train on historic South Shore Line.
The rental features a plush queen bed in one bedroom and a deluxe queen and twin bed in the other. All linens are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped to make a fancy feast or a simple snack. Eat at the expansive dining table or snack at the cutting board topped island. The rental is comfortably furnished with an eclectic assortment of vintage furniture. Just outside the front door is a private patio with a picnic table and charcoal grill.
This rental is on the ground floor of a 2-story beach house however, there are no shared spaces. It is a perfect place for an intimate getaway or making fabulous family memories.

The hosts were very kind and accommodating. There were lots of fresh towels, blankets, and pillows, as well as kitchen supplies for cooking. The location is beautiful and so convenient for beach trips.

There’s lots to like about this rental. The location of this cottage is amazing. Lake Michigan is right outside your door and the views from the kitchen table are spectacular. The Indiana Dune National Park is a quick walk down the beach and the adorable town of Chesterton is a short drive away. The accommodation is nice but It leans more toward rustic then luxury. The ceiling are low, the floors are sloped and although the listing states that there is a washer and dryer, they are coin operated. (I got caught in the rain and wanted to dry my clothes but didn’t have 1.50 in quarters) Also, be aware that you park on an upper lot and need to carry your luggage down (and back up) several steps. Susan was nice and was easy to work with. (Her daughter even helped carry our luggage.) Overall, I’d recommend this rental!

Weekend Getaway

The location was perfect and great for a weekend get away. Once there, there isn't any reason to go anywhere else. The only issue is if you are staying in and making all your own food there was only one roll of paper towels and there was no cleaner (like Lysol) to clean the counters with.

Overall Enjoyable Stay

Though there were a few little hiccups, I always enjoy staying with Susan on her property. I’ve been coming for the last few years and we enjoy lodging with her. The apartments are always clean, the property is ALWAYS well maintained, and the scenery is always beautiful!

Location is perfect!

We had a wonderful time! The place is very nice with beautiful views! We had fun using the kayaks and paddle boards. The beach is expansive and clean. We hiked the 3 dune challenge (not for the faint of heart) and enjoyed nearby restaurants. The ceilings are low -- my husband (6' 2") really felt this.

Wonderful Place

We took a family vacation here with our 6 and almost 3 year old. The kids had a great time playing on the beach and I loved how close the house was to the beach. The view of the lake from the dinner table was so refreshing, just what our hearts needed. The best part was even though there were other properties near by, we didn’t feel like we were right on top of each other (despite being in the basement unit!). My only “complaint” is that being in the basement unit, our allergies flared up. But we did come prepared with our allergy medicine and if we hadn’t, a grocery store and pharmacy were a short drive away.

Peaceful Spring Getaway

House and property were just what we were looking for. Quiet simple surroundings right on the lake. Could hear the waves from inside the house, see the lake as we sat at the dining room table. Walking the beach several times, it was us and maybe 6 other folks the whole 3 days. Lovely tranquility of water. Excellent getaway this time of year.

Birthday getaway

Susan was always quick to reply and her daughter escorted us to the rental and gave great suggestions for local restaurants. We knew it was a lower level with no shared spaces, but were still taken aback by how much noise was heard between the walking/work being done above us and conversations we could hear. The rental spaced was lovely and the views/access to the beach were amazing.

Peaceful and Beautiful area in Indiana dune.

Nice view as I expected, easy to approach to beach. Owner and her sister were kind. They have everything you need except soap and shampoo. Clean and enough space for cooking and nice dining table with beach view. big enough for 5 family member. One thing that I don't like is low ceiling height but not bad. Good place to visit!

Wonderful lakeside cottage

We stayed at the Duneland cottage for 9 nights. Beautifully decorated with simple colors and artwork, comfortable furniture and the best shower I've ever used, roomy with great water pressure. We loved that we were high on the dune overlooking the lake and enjoyed the deck that was closer to the water as well. Though it is close to town and trails, etc., we couldn't think of a good reason to go anywhere else.

Wonderful week away

Erica and Susan were wonderful hosts. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beach was amazing, water warm and clear, and our kids loved the lilypad. The national and state parks are nearby and full of hiking and activities.

Fall break get-away

The location of this little jewel was perfect. We enjoyed not only looking at lake Michigan but listening to it as well. The dinning room table in front of the big picture window was outstanding. We had a few hiccups, as there was unscheduled construction with the house beside us, but our property manager addressed these issues promptly.

Great Lakeside Retreat

Great location right on the lake. Although we had no phone signal, the wifi was great. Nice deck right on the beach. Comfy bed. Walking distance to Indiana Dunes State Park.
