Wineryhouse is a unique historic home - a former working winery in the traditional village of Finikia, operating until the 1970s.

The Architecture

Built by local craftsmen using materials drawn from the island itself- volcanic ash, red stone, and traditional concrete- the structure reflects the essential character of Santorini.

Curved forms, vaulted ceilings, and built-in elements were shaped not by trends, but by necessity and knowledge passed through generations.

These qualities have been carefully preserved, allowing the space to retain its original atmosphere.

Wineryhouse is a place where architecture, history, and living come together quietly.

The Transformation

The transition from winery to home was approached with restraint and respect.

Rather than altering the identity of the space, the intention was to reveal it, to allow its proportions, textures, and light to define the experience of living within it.

Subtle architectural interventions support contemporary comfort while maintaining the integrity of the original structure.


The Space

The house consists of two large interconnected cave halls (“canavas”) with a total surface of approximately 160m².

These impressive spaces, once used for wine production and barrel storage, feature high vaulted ceilings and a unique layout inspired by traditional Santorini construction.

Layout & Living

The eastern canava (approx. 80m²) is an open living space that includes:
• Living area with built-in seating
• Dining area
• Fully equipped kitchen
• Open cave-style bedroom with a double bed

The western canava (approx. 70m²) serves as the main sleeping area:
• Master bedroom with a built-in king-size bed
• Wooden loft above with two single mattresses

The open layout and generous proportions create a sense of space that is rare for traditional cave homes.

The Garden

In contrast to the volcanic landscape of Santorini, the garden introduces an unexpected sense of lushness.

Banana trees, papyrus, and layered greenery create a quiet, sheltered environment, rare in this part of the island.

It is not designed as a feature, but as a place to inhabit slowly.
A small swimming pool is located in front of Wineryhouse and is reserved exclusively for its guests.

Atmosphere

Wineryhouse is not defined by luxury, but by atmosphere.

Mornings unfold in cool, shaded interiors.
Days move between light-filled outdoor spaces and the calm of the cave.
Evenings gather quietly, with wine, conversation, and open sky.

While much of Santorini is shaped by movement and visibility, this place offers the opposite: stillness, privacy, and depth.

To make your arrival and stay at Wineryhouse as smooth as possible, we provide all the necessary assistance and information in advance.

Welcome:

Upon arrival, you will find a complimentary welcome package in the house, a small gesture to help you settle in and start your stay comfortably.

Transportation from Airport or Port:

Upon request, we can arrange a transfer with a local driver (minivan or taxi) from either Santorini International Airport or the port.
Please contact us at least one day before arrival and provide your arrival details (flight number or ferry name, time, and arrival point) so we can organize everything smoothly.

Arrival to Wineryhouse:

Before arriving in Finikia, please contact us to arrange a meeting point on the main road or parking area (if you are traveling with your own vehicle). We will personally meet you and escort you to Wineryhouse.

Arrival Assistance

We will personally meet you at the main road or parking area of Finikia and escort you to the house. The property is located about 200 meters inside the village, where vehicles are not allowed.

To ensure a smooth arrival, please contact us shortly before reaching Finikia to arrange your meeting point.

Airport / Port Transfers (Optional)

We can arrange your transfer from the airport or port with a trusted local driver (taxi or minivan), upon request.

Please contact us at least one day before arrival and provide:

Arrival location (airport or port)
Arrival time
Flight number or ferry name

If You Are Driving

Follow the main road from Fira to Oia. Finikia is located approximately 1.5 km before Oia.

We will meet you on the main road and guide you to the property.

Public Transport (Bus)

If you are using the bus, take the route to Fira first, then change to the bus heading to Oia.

Finikia is located just before Oia, and the nearest bus stop is about 200 meters from the house. We will meet you and assist with your final approach.

Good to Know
The village has limited vehicle access, preserving its traditional character
The final part of the journey is on foot through a pedestrian village. Luggage Assistance (Optional)

If you are arriving with heavy or bulky luggage, please let us know in advance so we can make your arrival as easy as possible.
We can arrange a local assistant (bellboy) to help transport your luggage from the meeting point to the house and back.

Getting Around:

If you are renting a car, follow the road from Fira towards Oia. About 1.5 km before Oia, you will reach Finikia.
The nearest bus stop is approximately 150 meters from the main road, within walking distance of the house.

Upon check-in, we will provide you with a detailed island map and personal recommendations to help you make the most of your stay- from hidden spots to local experiences.
