Beautiful ocean front house with a great host!

We have stayed in so many great places but this house is by far the best. Every inch is beautifully decorated! Huge tub, comfy beds, great kitchen. The view is amazing! We didn’t think it could get any better until the host was so friendly and helpful. Absolutely perfect stay in this beautiful house!

Property was in a great location. Right on the beach, hard to beat the location. There were a couple of minor issues, but everything was manageable. Didn't really affect the vacation. It was a good vacation. I would rent the unit again.

great location, house a bit rough

Location is the reason to come. Easy beach access, uncrowded beach. Great communication with questions. The house has had a lot of changes since the pictures that are posted mostly affecting the sleeping quarters. Overall enjoyed our stay but for the price, expected a bit more "finesse" to the house. Kitchen is great but no microwave.

Great experience

The house has plenty of space for our group of 3 adults and two young kids. It was clean, beds and seating were comfortable, and the view could not be better. Location was really great and appreciated the private access to the beach. Communication with the owner was always pleasant and clear. Close to good restaurants and easy to drive to downtown Norfolk and VA Beach. The only point we wanted to mention was that there was no microwave - there were plenty of other cooking utensils and it's just important to plan accordingly.

Beautiful house right on the beach!

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful. It was very nicely decorated and felt warm and cozy. Communication with the owners was responsive during our stay. Being right on the beach was so amazing and the bay waters were just so lovely, calm and relaxing! One note for the owners would be to update the bedroom/basement photos for the listing. We were expecting a different layout for sleeping arrangements for our kids based on the listing photos and felt like the bedroom rearrangements inside the house resulted in a lack of privacy for our older children. It wasn't a huge deal and in the end we made it work, it is just something worth noting especially if you have older kids that need more privacy than the younger ones!

Beautiful Home

We had a great week at this house. The house is very bright and open, and well equipped with all essentials including beach supplies. The air conditioning is very nice and cool; we did not touch the thermostat once (and it was very hot outside during our stay). My only complaint about the house is there were no closets available to use, which is a bummer if you pack things that need hung up. We loved sitting outside watching all of the ships and boats on the bay. We also saw a lot of dolphins. The beach is nice and kept clean. One downside is there are not many restaurants or places to shop close by. We had to drive about 25 minutes to Virginia Beach for eating out and shopping. However, the neighborhood is very quiet so that is a plus.

Rental could be amazing....but!

I would like to preface this review by stating that we did like the rental.  It certainly had older charm and the location for the price was fantastic.  There are however things that must be done to make this a spectacular home and a far more enjoyable stay!Pre-wrote a respectable review to not sound so harsh but found that the this can only be 1500 characters so here’s the abbreviated version; apologies for being more blunt;- Linens/beds full of stains. Really gross kind.- Hot tub was not clean; I get it, we’re at the beach. But there was so much it looked unkept.- Kitchen was full of ants (and found a lovely cockroach as well)**Listing is very inaccurate - No grill - No microwave - Limited towels (bring your own) - Beds: 1 king, 1 double upstairs, 1 double, 1 raised twin downstairs. Bunk room does exist but locked (from outside so you can enter). Appears lived in with dirty dishes on table and dirty underwear on the floor.- Huge cobwebs on ceiling- Fridge was full of drinks, both doors full, freezer was full. Had to keep a lot more in our coolers than we wanted to.- Easily accessible prescription medication in the drawer; folks with small children should be aware- Outside is unkept. Going for the natural look I guess but a small amount of maintenance would make a huge difference.- Closets unusableI feel very bad about writing this and I hope it’s taken as constructive criticism. This rental could be amazing, but only if these items are corrected.

I’ll start out by saying the highlight for this home is being steps from the beach with your own personal path. The pictures on the listing are extremely outdated and not accurate. The home is very charming however the sleeping arrangements downstairs is not what was pictured. There is a microwave listed in the kitchen amenities but there wasn’t one. I reached out to the host who said it kicked the dust a few weeks ago and offered to try to get us one if able. I responded that we would appreciate it if she was able to. Then I heard nothing back until I messaged about trash night. Part of our responsibility was to take trash and recycling out for pick up. No big deal however both of the recycling bins were packed full from previous weeks and the recycling didn’t get picked up during our stay either. I messaged host to let her know about the full recycling which she did respond with a thank you and then told me she wouldn’t be able to get the microwave. These are not end of world problems however I have a responsibility to pay to stay and I expect the same responsibility from the host. We were not able to use any of the closets due to the amount of personal items in the home. It would have been nice to know bc at one point it felt like we were invading their space. It was a little awkward seeing prescriptions in drawers, closets full of clothes and personal items, etc. Overall, we had a great vacation and enjoyed our time.

Precious Gem

I swoon. When I go on vacation, I rely on more than just the sand and waves to take me away. The visual aesthetic of my living quarters is very important to me, and this lovely home did not disappoint on that front. I'm a sucker for décor and good vibes. This place was the perfect combination of feeling "at home" yet also away at a swanky vintage bungalow.....beachfront! We have been coming to this area of Virginia Beach for many years and we by far prefer the Bayside! I feel so lucky I found this gem nestled in our very favorite part of town. The view from the dunes was spectacular for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. The walkway to the chairs on top of dunes and the area around the hammock could use a little grooming/cutting back to clear the way more. We also fell in love with the covered porch with ceiling fan on the back-side of the house, even though that's not the water-front side. We are storm watchers who enjoyed several afternoon downfalls out there playing cards & sipping wine. The porch allowed us to stay outside when we would otherwise have been stuck inside. Overall, charming, private and direct beach access, with the ideal bayside pace that we adore. All the feels- Thank you to you and your family for sharing your home and your piece of the Chesapeake with us.

Pretty decor, nice hosts, but def some problems

We stayed here for 8 nights in July 2024 with our 3 teens and a toddler. The hosts were very responsive to our questions. The location in Norfolk was ideal, right on East Ocean View Beach with shallow, calm waters, which was reassuring for us as parents. The house was tastefully decorated in a mid-century boho style. The interior matches the photos; a minimalist yet elegant ambiance. The living room’s openness was very nice during rainy days. Although not very large (maybe 1000 sqft upstairs), the layout is functional; the rooms well-spaced. However, the lack of a microwave was more than inconvenient for vacation living w/ teens. We faced some issues that impacted our stay. Inside, there was a significant insect problem; tons of millipedes in the basement. Despite a pest control visit, the issue persisted, making the basement unusable and stressful for our teenagers. They all moved upstairs. Ouch. Linens were not all clean, with long white animal hair present; very off-putting. Outside, the property did not match the photos AT ALL. There was no visible water view from the back porch unless standing bc the tall dune grass obstructed the view, not the advertised beachside relaxation. They should have tended to the grass. The path to the water view had uncomfortable chairs & aggressive ants. The lack of view and inconvenient outdoor space made the stay undesirable. Despite the beautiful house, the high cost and lack of view was enough for me to regret booking this property.

Thank you for your input! We certainly want to make sure our advertisement is accurate so definitely some updated photos of the dune grasses would help we will add those asap! I wish we could do more about the ants but certainly some better chairs for the dune could be an easy fix. Also thanks for the feedback with the exterminator’s we have let them know that what they doing isn’t effective with those bugs I’m so sorry that’s disappointing. We’ve tried to go an organic route to reduce pesticide use but we may have to pull out some bigger ammunition for those :( And the grass grows crazy when we get a lot of rain we will certainly be on top of our lawn guy to keep up when we get copious rain! Thanks again for the feedback and we look forward to making adjustments based on that for future guests :)

Beautiful and Comfortable Stay!

The house was perfect for our family of 5 (3 teens). It was beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and had a well-stocked kitchen. It was very close to the market and local restaurants and about a 25-minute drive to Virginia Beach. This house appeared to be one of very few that had direct beach access which we greatly appreciated and enjoyed! The beach was beautiful. The owner was gracious and very responsive. Definitely a wonderful family beach getaway! Our only note would be that the backyard does not appear as in the pictures. There was a great deal of growth that changed the view and made sitting in the area where the hammock is less desirable. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Relaxing and charming

My family and I spent a week at this lovely home. The size of the house was perfect for us. The location was very relaxing. We were looking to be away from the big crowds so that was good. The calmer waters were enjoyable. I’m normally scared of big waves so being able to go out farther into the water than what I normally would was a treat! We spent a lot of time just floating out there. Being able to just walk down to the water or relax on the private deck overlooking the beach was so nice. Whoever designed the decor of the home really has an eye for design - so much character and charm!

Perfect escape

A beautiful set beach house with all you need for an escape away. Set back in mini dune so you wouldnt even know there are others around. The beach was perfect for our young kids and big enough to take a long walk. Location is fantastic as there are great cafes near by. We came home feeling so refreshed and looking forward to returning ☺. Lindsey the host was great with any questions and tips around the area.

Beautiful Beach House

We cannot say enough about the owners and property EXCELLENT All the little “extras” around the house and the Kayaks were the biggest hit for our grandkids I contacted the owners a few times with questions and their response was fast We will be coming back again with all our grandkids so the can enjoy the beach and property
