Wonderful location, great yard space

They had basically anything we needed for the kitchen and plenty of firewood. There were two rooms with twin beds as of 2025 and two rooms with larger beds. Maybe not the comfiest mattresses if you prefer something more firm. Nice large fan was provided for airflow and the A/C kept up well with the heat wave. We unfortunately lost power for a bit due to a local power grid failure at the time, but it came back on within a few hours and stayed cool enough inside. Nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. Overall very cozy spot as close to the beach as advertised.

Beautiful lake house

This house was great, the neighborhood is quiet, the other residents are polite and it is close to the beach. It is also close to downtown Saugatuck with great restaurant and fantastic views. The house is perfect for a group of friends or two families looking to vacation together. You won't be disappointed with this house.

Great location and an old time field

The location gave me warm memories of my trips to northern Michigan as a teenager in the 80s Cozy upstairs room that cool off nicely with ceiling fans and central air. Kitchen has everything you need to make Family breakfasts and dinner for a large crowd The back porch was wonderful for making s’mores and telling stories around a fire pit. Best part of all was the five minute walk to Douglas Beach!

Great location

The home is virtually across the street from high above Lake Michigan. Great area. Everything was clean and all the basics were provided. The only minor issue was not receiving address or directions until less than a day before we arrived.

Great location

Great location to be close to a small local beach, didn’t actually go to the beach except to watch the sunset which was great. Big backyard with a firepit. Plenty of bedrooms which worked great for our 2 and 4 year olds, lots of space in the house. Wish there were more restaurants closer within walking distance but still just a short drive away. If you have kids I would say this is a great spot to stay as you have lots of space outside and inside and close to the beach.

Great location!

The house is well appointed and on a beautiful street. We would definitely stay there again. The only drawback, is there are a lot of bugs in the house. I’m not sure if this is because it was built in the early 1900’s and there are lots of trees, or if they just need an exterminator to come and take care of it.

Great Home by Lake Michigan

House was very clean and easy to access. Lake Michigan is on opposite of side of road. Very quiet neighborhood. It was perfect for our ladies group. Plenty of bath towels and kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils and pots and pans. Nice sitting area outback with wildlife seen frequently. The only thing that was a little off from what was advertised was that the listing showed 2 of the bedrooms having 2 twin bed each and in reality one of the room contained a trundle bed. Not a big big deal for most maybe but my only suggestion would be to clarify that on the listing. But overall we were 99.999999% satisfied and would stay there again.

Cute house in a good location

Cozy house great for the whole family! The location is beautiful and our kids loved watching the deer, turkeys and birds right in the backyard. The accommodations are good but there were quite a few things that need improvement. The bathroom upstairs didnt lock and the bathtub did not drain. The king size beds are two twins put together and if you sit on the edge they almost flipover. There is also an ant problem so we could not leave anything on the kitchen counters for more than a few minutes. The fridge also leaked water from the freezer and so our pizza was soaked after being stored in the fridge overnight. The house is beautiful and has a lot of charm but it also has a smell like its not being used very much. Other than those issues we had a great stay.

Lovely home

Very nice and roomy home for my group of 7. There are 2 bathrooms each with a shower. Beds were very comfortable. Very nice backyard with tables and chairs. Location is close to Saugatuck, about 8 min away.

Douglas Stop on Michigan Road Trip

The family loved that we could all stay in one location and the kids and parents could have their own rooms. It was a large home with separate spaces for everything. The porch and back deck were great and there was a fire pit stocked with firewood. We could walk 8 minutes to Douglas beach and oval beach and downtown Douglas and Saugatuck were a short drive away.

The house is lovely and it's wonderful to be just a short walk from a public access on Lakeshore Dr.

From renting, to finding the house, and begin the move-in process, everything was easy.

Great Location

This place is in a lovely neighborhood directly across from Lake Michigan. We were four people in mid-October, and walking Lake Shore Drive was perfect. The kitchen was fine for weekend use, the bedrooms were very cozy, with good beds and lots of closet and shelf space. Check in and out was easy.

Family Vacation

Home is nestled in a wooded neighborhood, just a short drive from downtown Saugatuck (about 5 minutes) and equal distance to Oval Beach the other way. Slept 6 adults and 2 kiddos easily. Only suggestion would be to update the coffee maker, took too long to brew a pot. Other then that, would definitely stay again.

Great location, beautiful outdoor space!

Great location (you can almost see Lake Michigan) and a beautiful outdoor space for relaxing. Bedrooms a bit cramped but well stocked kitchen and very confortable home for a weekend getaway.

Amazing Location…

The greatest thing about A Shore Thing cottage is its location. You are walking distance to a great sunset view at Douglas, and a five minute drive to Oval beach. Downtown Saugatuck is just across the bay,and you have South Haven below you/Holland above.

Pretty comfortable

There were a few ants ( like 2 ants) in the bathroom and the plastic chairs outside were cracked. There was no lighter fit the fire pit but otherwise the place was really comfortable and worked for our budget and I would recommend it.

Great Place

Home has everything you need to have an amazing get away. Location can’t be beat, overlooking Lake Michigan. Back yard with the deck and fire pit is perfect way to end the day.

A lovely, cozy getaway

We stayed for three nights in September and the house was perfect. Located in a tree-covered and quite lakeshore neighborhood of Douglas. It is very well maintained and organized. Perfect for a weekend getaway with family and friends. We loved the firepit and well maintained yard. Very comfortable beds.
