LYS + HAV | A Seaside Retreat in West Falmouth

Danish for "Light + Sea,"  the Lys + Hav house is a quiet retreat soaked in sunlight and nestled into a wooded hillside 4 minutes from Chapoquoit Beach. Adjacent to the Shining Sea Bike path, you can leave the car at home to reach downtown Falmouth, Woods Hole, and Old Silver Beach.

Enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a large living room, the privacy of an acre of property, a spacious deck, eat-in kitchen, and bikes to get around town.

This mid-century house is light-drenched and airy while featuring contemporary updates, including central air, new floors, wi-fi, and a renovated bathroom. The living space offers HDTV equipped to access all your streaming subscriptions. The kitchen is well-stocked and laid out with a seamless flow between stove, sitting area, and the expansive deck. The driveway has parking for five vehicles, so friends can easily drop by for a glass of wine and lobster boil.

​Here, you can experience the leisurely pace of a place set apart to relax, enjoy the company of loved ones and good friends, and celebrate simple pleasures—yet all within easy access to some of the best Bayside beaches on the Cape.

Bikes and helmets are provided; more can be rented in downtown Falmouth. You are a 2-minute ride to the Shining Sea Bike Bath, and 4-minutes to Chapoquoit Beach and Snug Harbor. From the Bike Path, it is an easy ride or 10-minute drive to Woods Neck or Old Silver Beach, downtown Falmouth, Woods Hole, and the ferries. The house is a 4-minute walk to the West Falmouth Market, Swift Park with its playground and tennis courts, and the Library, and there are trails from the house that lead to the Falmouth Moraine.

Each of the beds features new memory foam mattresses, down pillows and duvets. All linens are provided, including beach blankets. A free washer and dryer is available on-site for laundry.

Upstairs there is the newly renovated bathroom, a master bedroom with a king bed and room for a crib or air mattress, as well as a bedroom with two twin beds. Downstairs there is an en suite bedroom with a queen bed.

Lys + Hav is notable for its mid-century Danish furniture, as well as an art collection of contemporary works, graphic design, folk art, and the limited edition Thing Quarterly.

Please note that this is a two-story house set on a hillside, and stairs are necessary to access the main entrance. The washer and dryer are located in the basement. The driveway and exterior stairs are lit with motion sensors, but the area is dark at night. The kitchen has the original vintage fixtures, as does the en suite bathroom located on the main level. And at this time, the fireplace is decorative.
