Twin Pines, recognized in the book ā€œThe Top 100 Most Beautiful Rustic Vacationsā€ is located deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Off-the-grid, yet just 15 minutes from Colorado Springs urban life, Twin Pines is a charming, enchanting and historic log cabin.
Built in the 1890ā€™s on the site of a stage coach rest stop on Old Stage Road, the cabin is an historical landmark on Cheyenne Mountain. Twin Pines is a fusion of 19th century simplicity with 21st century convenience. Step onto the flagstone deck and find yourself amid the sweet, refreshing aroma of towering pines, setting the stage for conversation and laughter while roasting marshmallows around the firepit. Or, step inside and enjoy the 3 bedroom, two bath, cozy living quarters that sleeps 5 comfortably and comes equipped with todayā€™s technology; internet, cell phone service (via WiFi) and Smart TV. While compact, the galley kitchen has all the conveniences of home. In it you will find a full-size refrigerator, washer and dryer, range, dishwasher and garbage disposal.
Since this is an off the grid location in a water conservation area, you will be participating in cabin water management with the spring water system. Limit showers to 8-10 minutes. In addition, run the washer and or dishwasher in the evening after showers have been completed.
Over a century ago, the stagecoach rest stop was a respite for weary travelers and pleasure seekers. Today, Twin Pines continues to welcome visitors from around the world who seek seclusion and relaxation in the Rocky Mountains. We await your visit!

We spent our Thanksgiving in this beautiful piece of heaven. Steve had planned on spending his holiday there but graciously changed his plans to accommodate us. If you want relaxation and comfort this is the place!! Fantastic, host and cabin . The views up and down the mountain are spectacular.

My family really enjoyed the cozy cabin in the Cheyenne Mountains. The location is great because you are tucked away in the woods with plenty of beautiful scenery but close to any activity you are interested in experiencing. This cabin was so adorable! Amenities were amazing. Everything was very clean. Steve was easy to work with and had a lot of helpful information because this isn't a normal location for most people. The drive to/from the cabin is a winding, steep, dirt road which we all enjoyed as it offers amazing and unique views of Colorado Springs and the valley below.

Amazing Cozy and Beautiful Cabin

This was our second time visiting the cabin, and it was just as wonderful as the first! What an incredible experience all around. The photos truly donā€™t capture how charming and peaceful this place really is. The cabin was spotless, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed.We absolutely loved the cozy cabin atmosphere and slept incredibly well each night. The location is perfectly tucked away, far from any main roads, giving us a true sense of peace and quiet. The views on the drive up are breathtakingā€”you can see the Broadmoor Hotel, the town below, the mountains, and the lake.One of our favorite spots was the deck just outside the cabin, where we relaxed in the crisp mountain air, watched wildlife, and built fires in the evenings. We also enjoyed watching the sunrise through the trees, hiking around the property and across the bridge, and of course, roasting marshmallows at the fire pits.A fun little touch was the wishing wellā€”we made sure to toss in a coin and make a wish before leaving!Steve is an outstanding hostā€”communicative, accommodating, and clearly dedicated to making sure every detail is just right.

Mountain Magic

I cannot overstate how amazing this cabin was to stay in. My only regret is that it was only for 3 days. We had such an amazing time, I would be willing to fly back to stay here for a couple weeks. It was so relaxing! Our host, Steve, was incredible. He was very attentive and responsive. The cabin has so much charm. You can feel the extensive history of the place, but it has been upgraded with such modern features. Whoever designed the kitchen is a genius. So much functionality in such a small space. I am a cook and wouldn't hesitate to cook a holiday meal in there. The interior is beautiful with very comfortable furnishings. The beds are great. Sitting outside by the fire pit each night is one of the highlights of our amazing 12-day road trip around the Rockies. You are surrounded by giant ponderosa pines, you hear the crackling of the fire and the nearby stream, and you have an excellent chance of spotting wildlife. I love this place so much!
It was 65 degrees when we arrived but a little snow was left from the previous few days.
They would just watch us on the patio while they munched grass 15 feet away. Adorable!
The snow completely melted within 24 hours but what a wonderful picture when we arrived from hot Texas!
Highlight of the trip. We decided to get groceries and eat at the cabin so we wouldn't have to leave at all.

Perfect for family gathering. Surroundings gorgeous. Owners wonderful in communicating. A must see to believe the beauty of the cabin interior and exterior. With mule deer eating right outside windows a postcard picture to say the least. We wished we had more time for enjoying the tranquility of this spot within a peaceful forest setting. The cabin is the perfect place for some peace and quiet.The cleanliness is exceptional!We enjoyed having campfires on the deck and gazing at the stars.We rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and it was just perfect for driving up and down the mountain.We even had fun driving to the top to see what the Bear Trap Ranch was and beyond.My suggestion is to find the cabin in the daylight. Steve, the host is so personable and sends videos that are very helpful.The cabin is not far from the Broadmoor area. It is a very pretty area to see. We enjoyed the Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs and taking the Cog up Pikes Peak. We highly recommend this place.

Amazing cabin!

This was such a fun place to stay --- a very historic cabin, and the owner provides information on it's history. Despite being historic, it has been updated with all modern amenities - a perfect combination of feeling like you are staying somewhere with history but not needing to forego anything! Location is also amazing - we love being off the beaten path and this cabin definitely checks that criteria, while still being close to Colorado Springs. Owner is very responsive. Highly recommend!

The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and perfect location. Close enough to everything Colorado Springs has to offer but feels like youā€™re in your own world up on the mountain. Cabin was clean and cozy. Had everything we needed to be comfortable and cook on the nights we wanted. Best Vrbo experience by a landslide!!! Steve was thoughtful, kind, and the absolute best host. Authentic cabin in the woods

My husband and I stayed with our two children. We absolutely loved this property. The kids loved all the unique decor. Every morning we hiked around the property and the kids climbed on all the big boulders. We enjoyed eating by the fire pit and the gorgeous Mountain Viewā€™s. All the amenities were available as well. I should note that the drive up to the mountain is a little tricky, my husband is an excellent mountain driver and we had a truck, but something to consider if you arenā€™t comfortable with that! But we would definitely come again!! Thanks

I purchased Twin Pines from my niece in 1996 and lived in the cabin full time. Two years later, I accepted a job offer that required me to return to live in Indiana. My sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Joe Bricker, lived in Colorado Springs and offered to manage the property, along with the help of their family members, and rent it to potential guests. After a couple of summers of successfully renting the property, we decided not to promote the cabin for guests because of personal time commitments and other priorities. Previous guests, relatives and friends continued to occassionally stay in the cabin during the next 19 years. In 2019, after retiring, I decided to commit time and money to refurbish the cabin in order to consider renting it through VRBO. At the end of 2019, we were pleased with how the cabin looked. At that point, we made the decision to rent the cabin in 2020 if we could find property managers. Fortunately for us, a wonderful couple that lives about a half mile from the cabin volunteered to be the property managers. We could have looked a long time and never would have found a couple more ideally suited for managing Twin Pines than Todd and Rachel. When you stay with us at Twin Pines, you will have the opportunity to meet them.

1. Historic Cheyenne Mountain Cabin
Twin Pines is one of the oldest and most historic cabins on Cheyenne Mountain. The cabin was built circa 1893. The property became known as Wade City Stage Coach Rest Stop and hosted fortune seekers traveling between Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek during Coloradoā€™s last great gold rush.

Twin Pines is located on the Western Slope of Cheyenne Mountainā€™s Old Stage Road at an elevation of 7,016 ft. The off-the-grid location combined with close proximity to Colorado Springs City Limits (less than 1 mile) makes Twin Pines a one of a kind vacation spot.

- Hiking begins the moment one opens the front door
- Horseback riding, restaurants, coffee shop, zip-lining, Seven Falls, bowling, Colorado Springs Zoo, Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, Broadmoor Hotel & Convention Center, and the World Figure Skating Museum are all within 20 minutes of Twin Pines.
