Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is proud to present "Coastal Cove Sanctuary"! This home sleeps up to 20 guests including children.

This is a magical retreat in the Carmel Highlands. This exquisite beach house is hidden behind a scenic hill west of Highway 1. This special location offers serene privacy, where you can experience the beauty of the Monterey Coast with stunning views and peaceful ocean sounds. Whether you are watching the sunset, playing the grand piano, gathering in the game room, or viewing a movie in the theater room, you will find many entertainment options.

Renowned Spindrift Road has hosted iconic Hollywood moments, with estates featured in films like Play Misty for Me and Basic Instinct. This home was a filming site for the 2011 drama The Forger, making it a unique part of this exclusive stretch of coastline. You’ll even be near Brad Pitt’s recently purchased historic estate off Highway 1.

With natural beauty, the charm of nearby Carmel and Big Sur, and Pebble Beach® golf courses nearby, this house is an exceptional getaway, perfect for a variety of experiences including family reunions and group retreats.

Living Spaces
This is a three-level home including the finished basement which includes a lounge area with a full bar and a game room with ping pong table. The theater room has a large wifi-enabled TV for streaming your favorite subscription services (bring your own logins) and movies.
A living room with decorative fireplace and a family room with large TV are found on the main level.
The home has an attractive, fully-equipped kitchen and an indoor dining table that seats 8.
The Charlie Chaplin Wing can be closed off from the rest of the home and it has its own living space downstairs from its bedrooms.
Outside, you will find a gas fire pit, a bocce ball court and other outdoor games.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
There are nine sleeping areas in the home, each with a gas fireplace, and every bath tub in the home has jets. Some rooms are en suite to one another. #1-#8 are upstairs. The Charlie Chaplin Wing can be completely closed off from the rest of the home.
#1 - Clint Eastwood Room - primary suite, queen bed, en suite bathroom with bathtub and separate shower.
#2 - Doris Day Room - queen bed, en suite bathroom with shower-tub-combo.
#3 and #4 - Brad Pitt Suite - two sleeping areas with queen beds, Jack and Jill bathroom with shower-tub-combo.
#5 - Joan Fontaine Room - queen bed, Jack and Jill bathroom with shower-tub-combo, adjoins bedroom #6.
The Charlie Chaplin Wing includes Bedrooms #6 and #7 each with a queen bed, and Bedroom #8, a large room with four twin day beds. The suite includes one full shared bathroom with a shower, and its own downstairs lounge area with TV, game table, air hockey and fireplace which has a second private entrance.
One half bath is located on the main level near the living spaces and another is on the basement level near the game rooms and theater room.
#9 - Julie Christie Room - queen bed, private entrance, en suite bathroom with shower-tub-combo. Located downstairs.

Parking: 2-car attached garage and many vehicles can fit in the driveway inside the gate.
Several EV (electrical vehicle) outlets are on site. Guests should bring their cord and adaptor.

Well-behaved small dogs under 25 lbs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.

The yard is fenced and the driveway is gated for your privacy and security.
Please note that there is no beach access from the home, but there are many nearby beaches to explore.

The Homeowners reserve the right to monitor exterior cameras during occupancy.

This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner.

AMAZING

My fiance and I rented this property for our wedding weekend. It was beautiful. Truly perfect. I am absolutely amazed by this place, the owners, and Sanctuary who manages the property. We made a lifetime worth of memories and absolutely loved our stay and hope the property will be available for rental in the future. If you’re interested in visiting Carmel, this is the place to stay. Honestly… a month would’ve been better. We only stayed about 4 days and it wasn’t enough. The details and artwork are GORGEOUS. I honestly might be willing to give my first born to be here once a year. If you’re the owner or sanctuary rentals- y'all are really doing god’s work. Thank you for making our weekend so special.

Great House, Good Location, Rich Neighbors May Cause Problems

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Mixed review. House is generally great. Not right on the coast, but a bit of a view. Large, comfortably sleeps a lot of people. Held a small wedding in the back yard - daughter was thrilled with it as a very small, picturesque private location with cottage/fairy tale vibes. Complaints:1. Doors from inside to back outdoor fire pit area were literally zip tie closed. Multiple of them. This was the main access area to the back and it was, inexplicably, locked down. Extremely inconvenient.2. No ocean access and mixed messaging about it. There's a path behind/along the house to some benches on an overlook, but guests have no access. Signs, camera, and written house rules do clearly communicate this. But the rental company rep who was on site when we arrived and gave us a tour also very clearly told us that we *did* have access to the beach path - we just needed to get the gate code - which caused confusion. 3. Typical gate-keepy rich people neighbors, HOA, and owner. We had some people hop the fence to go down to the ocean. Again, Sanctuary rental rep told us we were able to use it. The entire community apparently then lost its collective mind. Neighbors, HOA president, and owner started flipping out, owner was "blowing up" the rental company's phone, threatening to kick us out. Someone called the cops, who did show up.4. Back is not very secluded - neighbors can see very clearly into the back yard. During short wedding ceremony, seemingly nosy neighbor appeared to be monitoring it all from her back deck.
