Yes, a SUV type vehicle is a good choice for many of the roads on Exuma, including our neighborhood road, but the bumpy ride is worth it when you arrive. I will recommend it to future guests. As for the mattresses, we ordered them through Wayfair and had them shipped to the island. Of course, the description said they were amazing, but we also found them to be somewhat uncomfortable. So, the next time we came, we brought some mattress toppers to add some more comfort to them. By the way, all mattresses in the house are new. This is the same situation with the couch. We needed a smaller couch for the space and ordered it online without being able to sit on it before purchasing it. It fits in the space well, but it is not the most comfortable couch to sit on. It functions well and has some storage. It is also a pull-out couch for relaxing while watching a movie or for sleeping on. Luckily with the beautiful weather and an island to explore, you are not sitting on the couch very often. Everything is expensive and challenging to ship to Exuma. Also, there are not any furniture stores on the island. We agree that some of the roads on Exuma are bumpy and rough. We also recommend getting a small SUV to help you explore the island safely. We have done it many times with a car, you just have to drive slowly and carefully on many of the side roads on the island.
