This Wonderful Spacious house-like One Bedroom apt/flat is on a side-by-side duplex building has peaceful cottage setting on a working farm in South Kona farm belt rural area, Its elevation provides cool temperatures & amazing, lush foliage with ocean and mountain view with cable TV and free wifi.
The rural Captain Cook/Honaunau area offers rural South Kona charm and comfort, It's conveniently located off HWY 11 Belt Road.

This house-like one bedroom apt in a duplex building has a wonderful, peaceful cottage setting and its elevation provides cool temperatures & tropical rural landscape.
The unit includes:- One bedroom with a queen size bed, and if needed queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. With a functional large full kitchen, bathroom with tub/shower. The interiors of the space and the covered Screened Lanai/Deck offer ocean and mountain views. This large unit offers you all of the comforts of home and sleeps four adults comfortably.

Spacious, comfortable and peaceful, a good place to wait out the storms! The Kona low changed all our plans and it would have been a sad experience if we hadn’t had such a lovely place to stay. It’s not new or fancy. It suits the humble rural lifestyle that we enjoy. The owner was very helpful.

Spacious and great location!

Nice large space in the apartment! close to 3 awesome beaches to swim kayak and snorkel. We would stay here again.

Excellent location, quiet, pleasant

I would rent it again Fit our needs of: kitchen, view, location high elevation so no need for air conditioning, WiFi, tv, comfortable bed George is more than hospitable.

The deck is amazing, with birds, frogs & trees. Nice county location. Bedroom is great with a full size closet and comfortable bed.

We loved that it was quiet and away from the city noice. We loved the natural surroundings and the sounds of nature. And our visitor(Turkey )was very nice

Lovely

Nice roomy cottage with lovely screened in porch from which you can see the ocean and macadamia trees, tangerine trees , banana trees etc. Close to beaches and Captain Cook town.

Quiet spot with a beautiful view

Loved our stay here. It was the perfect spot a little off the beaten path that was a great home base for our adventures on the big island. Close enough to everything you need and far enough from the hoardes of tourists, with lots of little shops and spots to check out nearby. As for the space itself, it's super cozy and has an incredible ocean view from the screened in patio. Waking up to that view was one of the best parts of our trip. Would 100% stay here again.

The perfect location on the Kona side of the big island. A cozy little getaway

Although the decor is a bit outdated, it was an excellent price point, clean, & had everything provided to feel as if it was my own home. I highly recommend this very convenient, quiet (except for the frogs at night & the rooster in the morning- which is everywhere in Hawaii) tucked away cottage!

First time to big island

This is the first time to the big island and we wanted a place to see the coastline. The property pics show more than actual with tree growth but we really spent most of our time out exploring.

Amazing Property!

We loved the off the beaten path of this home. We were surrounded by Papaya, Avocado, and other native plants. So beautiful! It was so relaxing and had all the comforts of home. We will return!

If you like rustic, this is the place for you. Musty smelling. Great area for quiet. Great deck for watching sun go down. George took care of us. Very helpful with what ever we needed.

Perfect location for snorkeling

I stayed in the larger room. Although it is old, it was well cleaned and everything worked well. The sunset is beautiful, the croaking of frogs is a lullaby at night, and the sound of roosters is a wake-up call in the morning. The owner was very kind and friendly and made me feel at ease. I would definitely like to stay again.

Magic

This quaint cottage on a farm reminded me of stepping back in time to when things were more simple. Just a magical stay in old Hawaii with a gorgeous view of the sunset every single night= pure magic. Ed was a gracious host and George was the best, adding so much color and fun to our stay! We recommend this house and this host 100% and hope to be back soon!

Relaxing Locale

If you want a resort experience, this is not for you. If you want a relaxing place to use as your base for vacation this fits the bill. Property could use some updates, but given the rate we paid, we weren’t expecting the Ritz. The lanai and surrounding farm was a great setting. Property managers were responsive when an issue arose late at night. Didn’t see any icky bugs during our stay, which is always a plus. No A/C.

Great getaway!

My husband and I stayed at the 1 bedroom until for 16 glorious days. It was the perfect place on the island for a home base. We drove all over the island. The unit itself is well loved. A little shabby and worn, but very comfortable and clean. We loved the screened in lanai. We had coffee and breakfast out there every day. The sunsets were fantastic. It was also cool in the evenings, perfect for sleeping. George was great to work with, he left us fresh avocados. They were delicious! All in all we had a fantastic stay. We hope to be back! Mahalo

Best Value in All of Kona!

Hale Koa exceeded all of our expectations. The location is perfect as a base to tour the entire island. It is on a working farm with macadamia nut trees, tangerine trees, orange trees, and avocado trees in the backyard. From the kitchen, you look over the orchard trees to see the sunset into the pacific ocean. It is far from the daily gridlock of Kailua-Kona. Not modern, just a very functional bungalow. I would advise anybody coming to the Big Island to stay at Hale Koa. George and Ed were super helpful and friendly. They sent us pictures to navigate to the bungalow. Without their pictures we never would have found this little slice of paradise.

South Kona Hills

The ceiling leaked onto the dining table and chairs when it rained. The manager could not fix the leak. The laundry room is in the dirt underneath the house! The washer left dark spots on our clothes.

DO NOT STAY HERE

This place is NOT how it was listed. Upon opening the door it had a strong awful smell. Very outdated, where to start? The bedroom had large cobwebs and rusty fixtures. The kitchen had exposed ant baits, I refrigerator I would not put anything in, the bathroom was not fit to get clean in. Dead bugs stuck to the ceiling. We arrived late at night and left first thing in the morning after taking lots of pictures and moved to another place. I slept in my clothes, I felt so dirty in this place.

Comfort and spacious!

Enjoyed our stay. Property had good dining, entertaining, and sleeping facilities. Spacious living areas and fantastic sunset photos from kitchen windows! Access to main highway a bit dangerous but teamwork got us thru!
