Welcome to the Bamboo Valley Inn: Nestled in a hidden tropical valley on Maui's North Shore where all you will hear are the sounds of nature and warm tropical breezes dancing through the Bamboo.

Located on a very private , quiet, gated, multi acre property with Bamboo Forest and running stream. Just 20 minutes from Kahului Airport and 10 minutes from world famous Ho'okipa Windsurfing Beach and Baldwin Beach Park.

A 5 minute drive to Haiku Town restaurants and country stores and 10 minutes to Paia and Makawao Town restaurants and shops.

At the Bamboo Valley Inn we offer separate, deluxe, accommodations. Each 2 bedroom 1 bath suite is 1000 square feet in size , each with it's own 200 square foot covered patio with a Gas BBQ grill . Each 2 bedroom suite has granite counters, its own private bath with tub /shower , fully equipped private entertainment room, with flat screen LCD TV and satellite network. Each suite has a wood burning fireplace , and a private kitchen area with everything you need to cook your meals. Each Suite is completely private from the other.

Your privacy is our priority, however the owners reside on property in a separate dwelling to assist with any of your needs or requests.

Peaceful location

What a gem!! Such a peaceful tropical location. In the Bamboo view suite, you feel like you are in the tree tops with wonderful nature sounds all around. What an amazing place to end my trip to Maui!!

Amazing property

Amazing stay, everything was very beautiful. The listing doesn’t do justice to how beautiful everything was. Tucked inside to enjoy the beautiful outdoors where you feel secluded. Tom and Vicki were both very accessible with any questions or needs. Highly recommend this place

Family visit

Lovely stay while visiting family who live nearby. Peaceful surroundings with pleasant lanai and thoughtful amenities — outdoor shower, beach chairs, cooler and boogie boards as well as washer and dryer. Hosts very responsive.

Amazing paradise

Our stay at the Bamboo Valley Inn was a wonderful introduction to the paradise that is Maui. We loved the location -- having coffee on the lanai each morning to birdsong was beyond peaceful. The suite itself was perfect for our family of 4. The beds were comfortable, the couches comfy, and we wanted for nothing. The photos on VRBO do not do this beautiful & peaceful oasis justice. Tom and Vicki are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed the delicious coffee and treats as well as their rapid response to minor problems (only a wifi router issue). We highly recommend this amazing VRBO.

Bamboo Suite for the win

Tom & Vicki have a hidden gem in Haiku - it is lush and quiet (minus the roosters in the morning which you easily become accustomed to and will likely hear anywhere you stay on the island and plethora of other birds)! Their instructions to the place are easy to follow and check in couldn't have been easier. They were available and quick to respond to the few questions we had. This is a stay away from the resorts and walkable towns that some areas of Maui have and that fit our needs for this vacation. Very slow paced and relaxed. Closest beach is about a 10 - 15min drive. There are multiple markets within a short drive with food carts and a great bakery. Once we got a system down of setting the timers on the AC to cool and hr or so before expected return, the main living area stayed very comfortable while it required a bit more effort to cool down the 2 bedrooms. This area dropped almost 20 degrees in the evening with some rain so there was often a breeze into the night to help with that. There are 2 other rental suites attached but due to the layout we never heard anyone and only waved at a neighbor once in passing. The mentions about the kitchen...while there is not a "full stove/oven", they have a kitchen with everything you could need to cook a full meal which we did on several occasions not to mention a propane grill on the beautiful shared upper deck. They have 2 heavy duty hot plates, full sized fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, dishwasher....and a large island with stools perfect for dinner conversation while cooking. We had a group of 4 adults and enjoyed our stay. Maui is beautiful and if your looking for something tucked away and tropical I could easily recommend this location. Until next time

Perfect vacation spot

This place was great! Away from all the hustle and bustle of city life and tourists. So many birds singing all the time, especially in the morning. Excellent views thanks to the huge windows. One bedroom had a queen bed (the topper is a 4" super soft memory foam topper which we took off, way too soft for us), the other bedroom had a full size bed. Beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, laundry outside, outside shower, plenty of bath towels (could have used more kitchen towels). The kitchen was a little on the small side, the island could have been made smaller to make more room for the kitchen, but still, it was all great. I highly recommend this place.

The Hawaii Experience we had hoped for.

We stayed at the Bamboo Valley Inn. Tom and Vicki were excellent hosts. The communication was great and when we arrived we felt very taken care of. When we arrived the house air conditioning was turned on and snacks and treats were sitting on the counter. It was a great welcome coming from a long day of travel. The home is in a quiet location. Located in a rainforest type atmosphere. The home is also centrally located to most must do areas on the island. It is a great starting point for the Road to Hana. The location is also just a short drive from Haleakala National Park. Paia is a great town close by with many good lunch and dinner options. When it was time to leave it also was just a short drive to the airport. When we returned from the beaches in the evening we appreciated cleaning off in the outdoor shower and sitting outside to relax to the sounds of nature. The home emphasized the natural wonders Maui has to enjoy. When we go back in the future we will try to stay in this same location again!

A wonderful getaway from the busy tourist locations.

Perfect!!!! A beautiful well kept and well managed property away from the ocean rentals. Nice to get a feel of upcountry living in a beautiful environment. We enjoyed the beautiful suite. Great Stay!

Wonderful stay at the Bamboo Valley Inn. Great location, nice and roomy rental, and very beautiful. Had a bit of a problem with the small appliances (they were all plugged into the same power bank so you couldn't run more than one at a time without tripping it) but it wasn't a major problem. Would definitely stay here again.

Secluded spot

We love the Haiku area. So close to everything in Kula, Makawao and the North Shore making it easy to avoid crowded tourist areas. The owner checked I. With us to be sure all was well, which it was. We loved waking up on the morning to the sounds of all the birds in the surrounding forest.

Lovey stay at the Bamboo Inn

We had a great time at the bamboo inn. We enjoyed staying up country. The space was very clean and honestly the photos don’t do it justice. We had no issues with the neighbors per past comments. The neighborhood was very peaceful and loved hearing the birds and chickens. We’d definitely come back again.

Beautiful location and perfect rental

Absolutely loved this place. Pictures don’t do it justice and it was such a wonderful surprise how much more beautiful it is in reality. Loved the location so much and the owners were wonderful! We definitely will return.

Incredible!

If you want something away from the resorts and golf courses, this is an excellent option. The apartment is beautiful, large, with incredible views and a lovely balcony, even when it's raining. For the first half of the vacation we stayed in Kihei and were very relieved to get to this apartment, away from the crowds and resorts. I would absolutely stay here again. Two good sized bedrooms with very comfortable beds, a large open plan living room with windows all around and natural light. They also have a washing machine and dryer on site and an outdoor shower for rinsing. They provided us with bath and beach towels as well as plentiful tea and coffee supplies and small toiletries. They also made beach chairs available, which were great! The owners were very communicative and responded when we had internet issues. With a car, access to some beautiful areas of the island was easy and relatively quick. A few caveats, which were not a problem for us whatsoever but should be known up front: The kitchen is not fully-equipped, but the owners provided a hot plate and toaster oven that were fine for making small meals. Don't expect to be able to cook full dinners each night though. The internet connection was not reliably great, but was good enough to stream a movie without too many interruptions most of the time. You would definitely need a car and should be prepared to use it to get anywhere -- the closest store is a mile's walk.

Peaceful tropical paradise

Clean, quiet, comfortable and beautiful! What a treat to stay in placid paradise with natural silence punctuated by bird calls and crickets. We slept soundly and lived in comfort after days filled with adventure in the north shore windsurfing paradise. Mahalo!

Unique Experience

Truly a get away from commercial Maui experience. Accommodations were top notch with a few surprises: window unit air conditioning units which eventually cool the home, sharing a nice deck and BBQ with another unit, weak internet and cell phone access (be sure to set GPS before leaving home). Nice touches were the tray of coffee, tea, snacks and instant oatmeal, and the use of a cooler, beach chairs, umbrella and boogie boards. Minor irritations were house geckos and whirlpool tub not working. We'd stay again if back in Maui.

Wonderful!

We loved staying at the BVI! The amenities were wonderful, clean, and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly. We loved the porch, view and peaceful property. The kitchen equipment was well stocked to make full meals and we appreciated the beach chairs, boogie boards, and cooler available to borrow. Paia, Haiku, and Makawao are very close and wonderful towns, each with fantastic restaurants, small grocery/general stores, and shopping. We traveled to all other major regions around the island during our stay and were very happy to be at the BVI. We would definitely stay here again.

Central location, great property

If all you want to do is hang out at the beach and sip cocktails, this may not be the best place for you. But if you want to explore all the wonderful things Maui has to offer, from the crater to the Road to Hana to the northern beaches to watch the surfers, Bamboo Valley is a great place to do it from. Up Island has its own unique charm, away from the hustle and bustle. The property is lush and lovely, the accommodations superb. We loved our time there.

Easy, Clean, Beautiful Jungle Retreat

If you want to get close to the jungle, this is the place for you. Large kitchen and living area, balconies, laundry, outdoor shower, large closet and bedrooms, massive bathroom. This place is well taken care of and in the perfect jungle location. They also provide every detail you may need that is impossible to pack: beach chairs, coolers. This is not the spot for someone looking to be super close to the beach, although an easy drive away. We enjoyed an alternative and beautiful view of Maui that this place offers. Only downside: the long driveway down can be a bit scary at night. :) thank you for hosting us! we're excited to stay again soon.

Perfect stay in Maui

My husband and I were blown away by this spot! Loved the decor, location, privacy, everything about it. We had a wonderful honeymoon here and are already trying to think of how we can make another trip to Maui and the Bamboo Valley Inn happen.

Aloha! We welcome you to the Bamboo Valley Inn. As your hosts, we hope you enjoy the serenity of our property as much as we have over the past 17 years. Vicki is a special education teacher and teacher of the blind/visually impaired. Tom is a hotel consultant. We reside in a separate home on the property approximately 100 yards away, hidden behind the bamboo. We are available to answer any of your questions and fulfill any of your requests, but if you are coming here to seek privacy, we will be a phone call away if we are needed.

We first saw this property in 1994 and immediately fell in love with the location. Being near all the necessary conveniences, but hidden in a quiet tropical valley, surrounded by bamboo forests, running stream, and towering eucalyptus trees is ideal. Our 1,000 foot elevation brings us cool nights, resulting in great sleeping weather. We have lived here for 18 years and continue to appreciate the beauty each day.

One of our favorite activities is taking long walks on beautiful Baldwin Beach, located just 10 minutes away. This beach offers shallow protected coves, great for young children as well as open ocean for those who love the waves.
