Great island home on Sunset Beach! The house is canal-front, about a 5 minute walk to one of the best beaches in all of North Carolina!

Our house is 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths with a sleeper sofa in the loft area. The house is very well equipped with basic supplies, four bikes, two tandem kayaks, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, crab traps, etc

This was our 20th year at Sunset, first Thanksgiving there and first time not renting through on of the island rental property companies. Best experience by far! The property was perfect - exceptionally clean, kitchen was totally stocked so we were able to prepare a full Thanksgiving meal, and Rich was very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend, 10/10!

Amazing stay

We love staying at Rich's. This is our second year coming for a week and we can't wait to come again next year. Rich's house is exactly as listed, has everything you need, and is an easy walk to an uncrowded part of the beach. It really feels like a home rather than a beach rental.

Beautiful property

We had a wonderful family vacation, the house is beautiful and well maintained. The beach supplies Rich provided came in handy, everything we needed was easily accessible. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Great location; beautiful home

We spent the majority of our time there in the house as we were there during tropical storm Debbie. Our kids loved eating breakfast outside and playing the hook game downstairs. Kitchen was well appointed and we look forward to coming back again!

Paradise on the Island

We had a wonderful stay. The house was well equipped, clean and homey. We had everything we needed. We walked the beach every morning and golfed every afternoon. Life is good!

Great house and host

Great house in a perfect location. The host was very responsive and was generous with the amenities offered. We had cloudy/cool days and beautiful days filled with sunshine. But every day there was a treat!

New favorite spot.

Loved our stay at this property. It was very clean and welcoming upon our arrival. Had everything we needed and more. Been coming to Sunset for several years and this is our new favorite house. Hope to use it again for years to come. Rich, the host, is always prompt in returning any messages to him. Thanks again Rich!

Perfect week at sunset

Rich’s place is perfect. It’s honestly like staying at your own house or a family members place because it’s so homey and also fully stocked with everything you need. It’s clean, close to the beach, and has everything you could need. Hosts are very giving in that everything is available to use/share, there are random toys in there that my kids enjoyed, etc. We used the kayaks a few days, sat on the dock some days, and walked to the beach every day. Highly recommend.

Wonderful

The house was perfect for our needs. We really enjoyed the screened in porch. We had all of our meals there. It was really pleasant looking out on to the canal. The ocean was a short five minute walk away. We enjoyed walking the beach on a daily basis. We golfed frequently. Lots of golf courses close by. We couldn’t have chosen a better location.

Wonderful house, fantastic beach

This home had everything we needed! Our family enjoyed the kayaks, bikes, fishing and crab cages although we didn’t catch much. It was a short walk to the beach. The home was clean and comfortable. We loved the back porch in the morning and when the sun went down. It was a great place to play a lot of games at night with the strand lights. We also enjoyed the swing underneath. Rich was fantastic with communicating. Everything went smoothly. We’ve been coming to Sunset Beach for decades and this home was one of the best! Thanks, Rich!

A wonderful stay

Great house! Very clean and homey. It is well stocked with dishes, utensils, and even spices. The owners thought of everything. Linens were supplied which was a plus. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the screened porch overlooking the canal, and we did some crabbing. Caught two and released them for the next person to catch. Also enjoyed riding the bikes to the Kindred Spirit Mailbox. That was a treat! We did not get a chance to use the kayaks. The house is short distance to the beach either walking or driving. We had no problem finding a parking spot right near 8th street. The weather was beautiful all week. We spent a lot of time on the beach. Sunrises and Sunsets are amazing to see. It was a fantastic trip. We even rented a pantoon boat out of North Myrtle Beach and took it up the intracoastal to Ocean Isle Beach and back. That was fun too. We could not have been more pleased with the house and trip. Thank you Rich and Family for sharing your beautiful home.

Thanksgiving at the Beach

THE WEATHER WASN'T ALWAYS COOPERATIVE; BUT, THE HOUSE MADE IT TOLERABLE. THE KIDS (3, 6 & 9) COULD WATCH THEIR SHOWS IN THE LOFT, IF THE ADULTS WANTED TO WATCH SOMETHING ELSE (FOOTBALL & BASKETBALL!). THE KITCHEN WAS WELL EQUIPPED AND STOCKED WITH MANY OF THE SPICES/CONDIMENTS WE NEEDED TO PREPARE OUR THANKSGIVING FEAST. ACCESS TO THE BEACH WAS CLOSE. HAD THE WEATHER PERMITTED, WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO MAKE USE OF THE KAYAKS. THE KIDS WERE ABLE (WITH DAD'S HELP) TO CATCH SEVERAL SMALL FISH (NO KEEPERS!). WE WOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER RETURNING IN THE FUTURE.

Perfect spot

We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Beach. Loved having access to the canal and enjoyed the kayaks that were provided! We also had a short walk to the beach. The home was very clean, and we had everything we needed during our stay. We would stay here again and appreciate the communication with the homeowners and their flexibility with us.

Perfect for our family

This a very clean and cozy house. It is a short walk to the beach so accessing the beach was easy. The house is on the canals and has two kayaks that were available to guests. We really enjoyed kayaking on the as a family. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Nice place, good location

Decent overall experience. Dock is nice, place was pretty clean. There was some dog hair in places outside on the porch. If you have small children the upstairs (and stairs) can be difficult. We had a 1 year old there and the upstairs requires constant attention due to the couch being backed up to the railing and the stairs being steep with a hard curve. Also the rails are wide enough a kid can squeeze through. Just need to keep an eye on the kids 100% of the time if they are upstairs. Otherwise the place was nice and comfortable and I’d recommend people stay here. The kids liked the bunk beds. Rich communicated well.

Family off-season vacation

We had a wonderful time, thank you for having us!! There was endless things to do for everyone- the kayaks were great to explore into the canal, lots of toys around, and a nice layout. The dock/stairs/walkway were in excellent condition and the entire property appeared well cared for so low stress for kiddos. Every appliance and utility worked excellent which is extra important when you’re staying in a more remote beach where folks are cooking in, etc. They thought of everything here- you’ll want for nothing while staying! The walk to the beach is very manageable and this beach is FABULOUS. My mom and I explored from one end of the island to the other (literally) on foot so this central location was great. Sunset beach is beautiful, family friendly, and appealing for those who just love exploring the outdoors and natural beauty of a non-commercialized beach.

Calming Getaway

The space was perfect for my family to come have a nice relaxing getaway at the beach! We were a short walk to the beach and from Sunset Slush! The destruction of the home was spot on. The second floor deck was perfect for slow mornings with coffee and books while the screened in porch facing the canal was exactly what afternoons called for. The living room was designed for conversation which we loved! Rich was very responsive and helped with all of needs. We will definitely be back!

Great Place!!

This home is nicely equipped with updated appliances, very clean and 2 blocks from the beach. Driveway can hold many cars and in a quiet neighborhood. We would rent again or refer friends for any future travel!

The property is the perfect getaway. 5 min walk to the beach. 10 minute walk to the pier, ice cream shops, the island market etc, plus it's on a beautiful canal that's teeming with wildlife and great for kayaking to the back bay sandbars.

The house is very comfortable with modern amenities such as streaming services and a new HVAC system. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The property comes with just about everything you need to enjoy a hassle-free vacation, and it’s very convenient to the beach, pier, and shops. My family walks or bikes to town for ice cream, shopping, or a great lunch at the pier. And you’ll love sitting on the screened in porch watching the water, wildlife, and beautiful sunsets!
