This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / biking proximity to multiple activities and dining options.
This property has one of the largest outdoor pools on OBX and a Recreation Center with Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Exercise Room, and Activity Room.
THE SPACE
This is a two level 3BR/2BA Lock-off unit located in the 100 Building on the 1st and 2nd floors. One of the best features of this specific unit is the amount of space it provides for the entire family, both indoors and outdoors on 2 large decks.
1st Floor - Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 4 stools, Dining Table / 6 chairs, Large Family room with Loveseat and Sleeper sofa, Fireplace, Full Bathroom w/shower, Bedroom with Queen bed, Large deck with excellent view of Currituck Sound and the great sunsets, providing plenty of room for the family.
2nd Floor - Bedroom with Queen Bed, Full Bathroom w/Shower, Master Bedroom with King Bed, Living Room area with Sleeper sofa, Dining Table / 4 chairs, Kitchenette with Mini Fridge, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc., and another Large deck w / Scenic Garden view.
This 3BR unit at approximately 1,400sq ft and is rated to sleep at least ten (10) persons. There is a Washer / Dryer inside your unit.

GARDEN / SOUND / WATER VIEW CATEGORY:
While the resort itself is Beachfront this specific unit is located in the 100 Building (see property map in the pictures section), and is closer to the Sound than the Beach.
From your 1st floor and 2nd floor unit you have one very large deck, with a direct view of the Sound, where you can enjoy watching the Sunsets over the Sound every afternoon, with room for the entire family. Then there is another good sized deck on the other side of the unit with a scenic Garden View offering some nice privacy. Great outdoor space available with this unit.
It is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, but since this is a large 24+acre property that stretches from Sound to the Ocean, it can be a longer walk to the beach from certain sections of the resort versus other areas.
STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:
Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.
BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your luggage / baggage to your unit if you would like some help.
For this specific unit:
Exterior Stairs to Front Door – 20-25 steps
Interior Stairs to 2nd level – 6 steps
UNIT INTERIORS:
This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar renovation project was started, and expected to be completed in phases.
Until the entire renovation is completed, resulting in every unit interior being renovated, you will find most unit interiors are spacious and comfortable but very dated with decor from the late 1980's or early 1990's.
While personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, relaxed, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, almost like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furniture and carpets. Hopefully the photos provided give you a general understanding for what I am describing.
The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the largest Outdoor Pool areas on OBX, private Guest access to a nice Beach, and a Recreation Center offering an Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Workout Room, and Activity Room.
Please note that if this unit was renovated the nightly rate would be quite a bit higher. Many families enjoy their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more luxurious accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on VRBO.
I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property for what it is, not what it isn't. I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. If you have any specific questions on this, please don't hesitate to ask.
GUEST ACCESS
Your unit is private, but since this is a Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Recreation Center, Outdoor Games, etc).
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.
- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Capital Vacations. The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.
- Check In time is 4:00pm (or after) and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.
- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.
- Please note that once you Check In and get access to your unit, if you encounter any issues or concerns regarding Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc…please contact the Front Desk / Office IMMEDIATELY. The staff members on-site provide the best opportunity to get any concerns resolved in the fastest and most efficient manner.
- Please note that some of the photos may not be from the specific unit you will be assigned. However, they do reflect the general layout you can expect from various locations in the unit.
- Three FREE parking passes are included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional vehicle you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.
- Bedding linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are provided. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.
- If you plan on using the Sleeper sofas during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a mattress pad for the Sleeper sofa specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable extra bed. Also plan accordingly if your unit has multiple sleeper sofas (bringing 2 sets of sheets, pillows, blankets, etc).
- Bath and Hand towels are provided for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.
- Please note that Housekeeping will provide EXTRA towels and blankets upon request. Just contact the Front Desk and they will arrange a drop-off.
- There is no daily housekeeping provided. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.
- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week (especially if there are specific brands you favor). Also don’t forget any cleaning products if you want them (cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc). There are grocery stores conveniently located in Kitty Hawk, Duck, and Corolla if you want to shop for any groceries or personal items you want during your stay.
- Utensils, Dishes, and some basic Pots and Pans are provided. If something appears to be missing, you can contact the Front Desk and possibly get it dropped off (if they have it). However, if you plan on cooking a lot of meals inside your unit, or plan any special dishes, I do recommend bringing your favorite Large Frying pan (or Large Sauté Pan, Wok, Crockpot, etc, etc) for cooking. This way you will have something you are comfortable using and you will know exactly how things will cook in it. You may also want to bring your favorite Kitchen knife(s) for food prep.
- Pool / Beach towels are not provided. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels
- You should bring your own Beach Chairs / Beach Blankets / Umbrellas / Coolers / Equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent Beach chairs / Umbrellas in the Town of Duck, or during most summer weeks on the beach out in front of the facility.
- If you or any members of your family enjoy bike riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bikes (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bike rentals in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bike locks so you can lock up your bikes at the bike rack each night.
- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, just make sure you have the proper licenses.
- Pets are not permitted anywhere on or in the Resort property.
