Tucked away on 68 private acres of untouched forest in Princeton, West Virginia, The Palace of Dreams is a secluded cabin retreat designed for guests who crave peace, nature, and a touch of magic.

Originally built by my grandmother and father in the 1960sā€”with stones pulled from the nearby creekā€”the cabin has deep roots and family history. In July 2025, we completed a full renovation, blending the propertyā€™s rustic charm with thoughtful updates and modern comfort.

šŸŒ² What to know: Access to the property is via a half-mile gravel driveway that winds through the forest. Itā€™s part of what makes the place feel so private and peacefulā€”but guests should be comfortable driving on rural roads. The cabin is surrounded by woods and wildlife, with strong cell service and reliable Wi-Fi. While the Wi-Fi generally works great, rare outages can happen due to the remote location.

We loved the seclusion, the quiet and large property for our dog to run around. Very clean, decor was cute and fun, beds comfy. Shower was great the soap and shampoo provided were so nice I even ordered the shampoo conditioner for home! The house had everything you need to enjoy your stay. Restaurants in town were yummy! The neighbors were dogs were very welcoming and so cute! I made sure to have treats every time we came and went!

Everything about our stay was wonderful! Would definitely come back again and highly recommend! Just what we needed for a short weekend getaway.We especially loved the deer and squirrels that visited us several times out in the yard.

Needed a quiet place to stay in Princeton WV while working a job there for a couple weeks. This place was an absolute gem! Nice and cozy remodeled cabin in the woods. Definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the find. Would love to stay there again if the time and place called for it.

What an amazing spot! Iā€™d youā€™re looking for a quiet spot in the trees, look no further. Christian was responsive and helpful. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding mountains, the bbq, a campfire, and a movie on the big screen tv when it rained. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful retreat in the woods!

We absolutely loved our stay at Palace of Dreams! The stream beside the cabin provided relaxing sounds and the small watering hole was so refreshing to hang out inā€¦truly one with nature. Christian was great with communication and made check in and check out super easy! We will definitely be back!! Thank you again for sharing this awesome space!!

If youā€™re looking for a unique, off the beaten path type of place to stay while in the Princeton area, this is for you. Just 3/4 mile off Hwy 460, sits what we called ā€œGrannyā€™s Cabinā€. Rustic and austere but with all the basic conveniences. Easy access to Princeton and surrounding state parks. Donā€™t forget to try Dabā€™s Country Kitchen in Princeton as well. Fantastic food!

Incredible property

This was by far the best Vrbo we have ever stayed in. The house is homey and quaint, very secluded and scenic. We stayed for 9 nights, and still didn't want to leave. Neat places nearby, Moutain Lake Resort where Dirty dancing was filmed.

Mountain Retreat

This property is the most gorgeous and secluded place we could have ever asked for. We spent a week here and did not want to leave. From the moment we turned on the long driveway and reached the house, we knew this was what we have been looking for. Very quiet other than the constant noise from the running creek and waterfall just behind the house put us at ease the whole time. Our dogs loved running the property. The owner was very easy to communicate with and has done a great job with this property. Highly recommend.

Rest in the Woods

This was a lovely woodland location. And so quiet. We had a wonderful time cooking, talking and going for walks. Blissfully away from computers and TV. (They were available, though the internet was out.) The little house was stocked with everything you could possibly need and the furniture was really comfy. There was a lovely babbling brook behind the house that had rills and waterfalls and made us want to come back in the spring to see the wild flowers and the trees in leaf. Would definitely recommend.

Secluded and peaceful

It was nice to have a place the boys could be loud rambunctious boys and not disturb neighbors or others that are seeking silence when others are there for fun. The internet and cell phone signals were amazing considering that in town the same can not be said. The house offered everything we were needing for the weekend.

Beautiful property. Peaceful and away from the hustle. Loved the creek running behind the house. Definitely an older house, but wasn't looking for grandiose. Owner obviously cares for it and has made upgrades.

AMAZING QUIET AND SECLUDED! THE STARS!!!

Owner was very easy to communicate with. The property was fantastic and everything we needed to disconnect. The stars were amazing and the firepit was perfect for the evenings. Only noise we heard were crickets. It's very quiet, secluded and peaceful. Bring AWD or 4X4, not a car. Driveway is a fun journey through the woods but small cars beware. The cabin was enough for our family of 4 and 2 dogs although we spent most of our time outside. Definitely recommend this property and be respectful of the land.and home.

Get back to Nature

This is exactly what we were looking for. Very, very private, my pup could run free and had the time of his life! My husband and I met my mom there for the weekend. We watched movies in the evening and during the day just sat outside and took it all in. My mom and I practiced yoga out in the yard and it was so peaceful. We had rain everyday but we could still sit outside and watch the wind go through the trees and watch the rain as it came in, it was honestly breathtaking. It's nothing fancy with amenities but it's all you need to stay comfortable in a country setting without it being too rustic haha! If your looking for food near by, Culture Grill and Cantina in the Walmart plaza is amazing! We also got pizza at Nance's in Peterstown which was very good as well, both locations about 11-12 minutes from the house.

Seclusion at its finest.

I'm not sure if this is new to Vrbo or not, but it was a first Vrbo experience for me, not to be mistaken by my first Vrbo stay, as it is not. This cabin is a cute, quaint little place that is 100 years old. So it's been around! It seemed like the family left for the summer and we entered an untouched cabin. The cleanliness definitely has room for improvement. I am hoping the family intends to put more time into it being a rental as they generate income. I was leary of cooking due to having to clean everything I touched. The bathroom was surprisingly great. I can't imagine what the other rooms would look like with the same flooring. The carpet was cringe worthy - my white socks stained from walking around. However, all things to consider I would stay again. The privacy was great and it was quiet. It's petfriendly - my dog loved the grounds and even took a swim in the little water hole.

We were very disappointed with our recent stay, for numerous reasons. To be fair, the host was responsive in his communication prior to and during the stay. Said it would be an "adventure" to get to the property itself (which it was). He also tried to resolve our primary issue - internet service. We discovered upon checking in that the internet service wasn't working, which we immediately told him. He contacted the provider next day and was told that it was working now, and asked us to verify. Still not working...upon which he then told us that a technician couldn't come out until 3 days later - the day before we checked out. As business owners we needed to get some work done online each day, and we like to watch Netflix at night, so not having internet service was unacceptable. The day before arrival we were told the dishwasher wasn't working. We didn't know that A/C was only in the main room, not the bedroom - opposite side of the cabin. The provided fan didn't have a knob to turn it on, therefore useless during a hot week in early July. The bathroom smelled, and the shower curtain had pinkish mold along the bottom edges. The floor was sloped very noticeably too. We left after staying two nights and checked into a hotel 15 minutes further away. We felt a full refund was deserved but requested a credit for remaining 3 nights, which he didn't feel we were entitled to. After nearly two weeks, Vrbo made up the difference between his offer and 3-night amount...can't recommend!
