Cottage in Historic Bucks County

This fully renovated 100-year-old cottage is in historic Bucks County. Surrounded by nature, this cottage is attached to a 300-year-old farmhouse. It is a charming rental which includes a private kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, big screen TV, bathing essentials, iron and ironing board, washer/dryer, and access to pool (in season). It sleeps 1-5 comfortably, (2 in the loft, 2 in full-size pull-out sofa bed and 1 in pull-out sofa bed, see additional lodging notes below.) Located on 5 acres of private land, it has a private entrance and private parking with easy access to an off-road bike trail.
Typically, a 30-minute drive to downtown Philadelphia (35 minutes train ride) and a 90-minute drive to New York (also easily accessible by train). It is minutes away from restaurants, wineries, breweries, and historic state parks such as Tyler State Park, Tamanend Park and Washington Crossing Park. A short distance to the quaint river towns of New Hope, Lambertville, and Frenchtown. 32 miles to Philadelphia International Airport and 15 miles to Trenton ok Airport and 8.5 miles to Sesame Place.

Beautiful spot!

We loved the location and charm. The bed in the loft is a little tricky for 70 yr olds to get into and be comfortable. The living space and laundry areas were perfect. Nice kitchen with everything needed. We will come back!!

Great spot!

This is a very charming property with lots of character. The check-in process was smooth. The cottage is well equpped in terms with numerous kichen supplies, towels, linens, and wifi/TV.

Although i had to cut my vacation short because my dog was so miserable. She's afraid of everything so i don't know why i thought she'd be ok. Anyway, the pool was wonderful! Had a great time for 2 1/2 days!

Fantastic 5 acre homestead with pool!

Holly was a great host. The cottage is everything you need as a base to explore Bucks County. I was able to walk my dogs on the spacious grounds, with parks just minutes away, take a dip in the pool, even use the barbecue off the main house. I will certainly return!

Just like being with family

Holly is the perfect host. Available when you need something, helpful in everyway, and so warm and wonderful she makes you feel like family. The cottage is adorable, the grounds are fabulous and our dog was welcome. It just doesn't get any better than this! .... and we will be back!

Clean rooms and very responsive host

We stayed at this VRBO for a weekend, as we were attending a wedding nearby. The property was very clean, easy to find, and the host was exceptional! Thank you to the host. The host was extremely cordial and helpful with recommendations. In the morning of our second day, the heater went off, and it was very cold. There were other heating units, but we didnā€™t know how to use them. I contacted the host, who responded immediately, even though it was very early in the morning. The host fixed the problem immediately. I was very impressed with the hostā€™s responsiveness. My only concern is that the bed is located in a loft area, and it is close to the ceiling, but the sofa is a pullout bed, and we could have slept on it. We ate at a restaurant for breakfast, recommended by the host, and it was very good. The space is quite large. All the amenities, including full size refrigerator.

Fantastic Staycation

Everything you would expect from a cottage stay. Nice grounds to walk and relax and we were lucky to catch the last pool weekend. Holly is wonderful, friendly, helpful, and very respectful of privacy. My husband, daughter, pup, and I will definitely consider another stay. My only caution is if you are wary of heights, the loft bed may be tough. My husband loved it and slept really well. My daughter and I slept on the memory foam pad we brought, planted firmly on the ground :) all together 5 star stay, thanks Holly!

What I wish Iā€™d known about this propertyā€¦

First-time VRBO renter with 20+ years in the hospitality industry so adjust your own expectations accordingly. I was specifically interested in the pool and being able to bring my dogs - this is what I wish Iā€™d knownā€¦ First and foremost, if you are bringing a dog, there is a large breach in the pool fence where the gate does not meet the stone ledge below it. My 30-pound dog could have easily gone right through it and almost did. That, combined with proximity to a very busy intersection and the extreme street noise made it unsafe for my dogs who have a good amount of energy and curiosity. Second, this property dates to 1727: it is VERY rustic and could be better maintained. For example, cobwebs were EVERYWHERE, from the bathroom, to the patio seating, to the pool area. Third, the cottage is very tidy, but only ā€œwiped downā€ ā€“ not clean to my standard as a hospitality industry veteran. There was soap scum on the sink and in the shower. The outside tables were covered with grime. So we enjoyed the pool but did not stay in the cottage (fortunate to be close to home) or use any of the seating/dining areas outside. If I had known these things beforehand, I would not have rented it. I would not recommend this property for a serene romantic getaway, but it would be perfect for perhaps a day-long family gathering or otherwise entertaining kids. They would love the pool, which we appreciated along with the privacy and parking area.

Too hot,too humid, too little, too late!!

Beware,The walkway to the entrance is quite uneven flagstone and there is no handrail, anyone with mobility concerns this is not for you. There was no a/c, NOT the place to stay during serious heatwave Comfy seating is limited, Only one cushioned oversized chair, not quite a love seat. We were unable to reach the owner. Between the extreme temps, humidity and the bed is literally inches from the roof we had to leave to find adequate accommodations for the weekend. Owner finally got back to us after 4 hours and stated she could have placed a window a/c but did not realize how hot it was ??? Our loss is hopefully a gain for others. After the weekend, owner communicated she added a new window a/c to avoid this issue in the future

This place was more than you could ask for in a place to stay. Almost everything was provided, pretty much like youā€™re home. The one thing that we werenā€™t the biggest fan of was that there wasnā€™t A/C. I wouldnā€™t knock the place though however, itā€™s covered by shade and the ceiling fan cools it down a little. Only thing was, for us, we came in the middle of summer. So it being 90+ degrees and using stovetop/oven to cool really made the place warm up a little. Usually we slept with no covers to keep cool. Other than that the place is a 10/10. Views, Amenities, Location. Extremely worth it. More so out of the summer months ;)

Beautiful property with a Major mildew problem

This property is gorgeous outside. It is a park-like setting with fabulous landscaping and pool. The outside areas are wonderful. Unfortunately, the cottage itself has a major mildew/mold problem. The cottage wreaks of it. We opened all the doors and windows, but could not get it to go away. All of our clothing and hair absorbed the strong odor and we ended up having to wash all our clothes once we left. I let the owner know about the problem, and she said there was a stream that goes under the house that causes the problem. We would not re-book this place.

Lovely stay on a stunning property

Thank you so much Holly for a lovely stay! The entire process was smooth and efficient. The cottage was larger than we expected and provided plenty of room and privacy for us and our small dog. We LOVED the pool and the fireflies were an added natural firework-like bonus! Great location, near some accessible hikes (Wissahickon and Taylor Park), cute towns (New Hope), and big cities (Philly). Wonderful spot for a short getaway. Hope to come back soon!
