Relax Near the Best of Oro Valley

A house with privacy and quiet, but near everything the city has to offer. Very close to hiking and biking trails but just a few blocks from shopping and restaurants,

Enjoy million dollar views of the mountains and city lights from the seating area outside your bedroom door, complete with fire pit and bbq.

Inside, there's a full kitchen, separate dining area, sitting area with smart tv, work area with office chair, blazing fast wifi,, and a king-size bed with an amazingly comfortable mattress. A full bathroom with shower, a laundry room, and your own patio with fire pit and grill round out the house.

You're on a five-acre property with large fenced yard. Pets are welcome, but there is a pet fee ($20/night per pet) and they cannot go on the bed.

Just a few blocks to shopping and restaurants, lots of biking and hiking trails nearby, and if you need anything the host can usually be there in just a few minutes.

Virgil was great and it was very pet friendly for our dog. The kitchen was adequate, not much counter space, but clean. If youā€™re not fixing a complex meal, it was perfect.This is such a convenient location! Minutes away from shopping, numerous places to hike and good restaurants. We plan to rent from Virgil again next winter.

The location was awesome. Views were as promised. Cleanliness and offered amenities were as promised. Only issue was the timing of the sprinklers in the outside fire pit area. They kept soaking the firewood while we were gone making the fire hard to get going.

We loved this place!! Charming desert oasis. Very clean and the kitchen provided everything we needed to cook and the bathroom was well stocked. The bed was super cozy and had one of the best nights sleep. Stunning mountain views and a nice outdoor firepit to enjoy under the stars! We highly recommend this place and we will be returning!!

We were very disappointed when we entered this property. I own several rental properties including a short term rental and I was amazed that someone would appoint their rental with the lowest quality and cheapest stuff they could find. The furniture appeared to be culled from Goodwill. While some Goodwill finds can be cool gems, none of the furniture here was. Worse than the furniture was the mish-mash of poor quality, or very, very, very old and used up pots and pans. The glasses in the cabinet didnā€™t appear to be washed very well at all and we needed to hand wash anything we were willing to touch. I donā€™t mind a cool collection of dishes that may not match, but at least make them interesting. Many of the dishes were badly chipped. It really just seemed like the ownerā€™s only interest was to spend the least amount of money possible at keeping this place running. Even the paper towels were the absolute cheapest product available. It appears that everything was found at the Dollar Store. Even the non-stick pan was many, many years old and appeared that it had been burnt through many times over. Non-stick pans should not be ruined like this. Just replace the damn thing. This guy really needs to get rid of every plate, dish and pan in the kitchen and spend about 500 and start over. I canā€™t imagine anyone wanting to return here. We only stayed 2 nights of the 5 we paid for and left for a hotel. It was worth leaving! Donā€™t waist your money here. Sad, but true.

Definitely needed cleaning prior to our arrival. Under furniture and in corners were dirty/dusty. Artificial plants had layers of dust on them.Courtyard and surrounding yard was overgrown and had places where a rattlesnake could hide so we did not use it. We had a dog with us and were not comfortable taking her into the courtyard at night.There was an issue with the wi-fi on the first night which the owner attempted to address, but during our entire stay the streaming on the tv would disconnect and not work properly.The pricing was fair but we would not stay there again due to these issues and the overall appearance of the house. Furniture should be upgraded for comfort, steps into both entrances need to be replaced as the one to the courtyard especially is weak and wobbly.Our dog found a prescription pill capsule from some corner or other, and we were fortunate to notice before she had eaten all of it. No idea what kind, or where it was but that definitely signals that the cleaning is unacceptable.Three wall air conditioning units made the stay very loud since they all had to be on to keep the unit cool.There were bugs near the kitchen sink, the cooktop was extremely dirty at the burners so we chose to eat out and not cook there at all.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOME

This was the worst VRBO we ever stayed in. While the actual home was okay and just the right size for 1 or 2 people, the grounds and owner were not okay. Upon check-in, the outside temperature was around 100 degrees. When we entered the home, only one of the three in-wall air conditioners was on and it was sweltering. It took almost 12 hours to cool the small house down. The yard, which would have been ideal for our dogs, was overgrown with grass, creating the perfect cover for rattlers. The next morning, we woke to a horrible septic smell. The handyman, who happened to be on site, called the owner to suggest that the kitchen sink trap be replaced. Instead, the owner said he would come by with a pod to flush down the toilet to address the problem. After 32 hours of living with the smell, the pod arrived. When we told him we were leaving a day early because it was impossible to live with the stench, he offered to refund us one night. Upon further discussion, we learned he meant he would comp us one free night the next time we stayed. Why would we ever come back?! We contacted VRBO, who ultimately informed us that the owner refused to refund our money.

Sweet Spot

Location, communication, cleanliness, safety, provisions all expectations met. Five minutes from Catalina State Park. Beautiful views. Comfy bed. Just what I needed.

For me, an excellent location

I would suggest two things. Larger TV. Local channels on TV with no log in. Better instructions to log into streaming services. Two, meet with tenant to go over keeping unit cool. Lots of fans but only got one to work. 3 wall units for A/C but not easy to manage, at least for me.Otherwise, nice setting, quiet. Easy access and close to Oro Valley marketplace, Dove Mountain golf, Oro Valkey restaurants.

Comfortable

No surprises. Easy access, comfy bed@, nice hot water. Host had wood waiting for us at the fire pit, and supplies at the ready for outdoor grilling. Space heaters were efficient and warmed the rooms nicely. Check out instructions were uncomplicated and clear.

We did not stay

We did not stay. It appeared someone slept there the night before. When we contacted the owner who lives on the property he stated that it was clean. He then came down apologizing stating that it was cleaned yesterday and he left the key for us on the table yesterday, he seemed confused, as our stay did not start until the day we arrived, he then said no one has come by because he has cameras on the property by his driveway. He stated he was going to have it cleaned and call the police. After some thought we did not feel safe staying in a place he first said no one could have entered and then stated he would call the police he became very agitated. The next day he accused our son of using the property without permission (who he knew we were visiting). When we told him that that is not true, he continued to make up stories about us wanting to rent it earlier (even though we had no communication about this, nothing changed with the reservation or payment. VRBO did end up refunding us some for our troubles, but stated that they cannot do anything else about the situation.

Oro Valley Stay

Nice private yard, great views of the Catalina mountains, beautiful sunsets. Quiet neighborhood except for Tangerine Road is close by and is busy and noisy but not so noticeable at night. The host was friendly and very responsive to our needs. We would stay here again.

Nice place to stay

It was the perfect location for our needs. I rate my stay but the comfort of the Bed. Great nights sleep on this one. Everything was fine. Host was very helpful and was accessible if needed. Small but very useful kitchen.

The pictures really donā€™t do it justice. The view of the mountains are breathtaking. The property is inviting and beautifully landscaped. The host was extremely accommodating. Iā€™ll be staying here again!
