This Mountain View , pet friendly, spacious, environmentally conscious, comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin style home has wrap around porches, plenty of outdoor seating, a swing on the deck with a Mountain View ,a fenced in yard and beautiful mountain views of Headwaters State Forest while you are entertained by the many birds and hummingbirds. It has a fully stocked kitchen, GE stainless appliances, central heat and air, 2 adjustable, comfortable king beds, gas log fireplace, bike washing area, fiber optic Internet, fire sticks on 2 TVs and a comfortable feeling. The fenced in yard has a flagstone path with flowers in season and a sitting area that has a gorgeous view so you can enjoy the yard while your children and dogs play. Bring some firewood and enjoy a Made in USA Ohio Flame fire pit so you can have an outside fire and enjoy the stars inside the fenced in yard .This is the perfect mountain retreat at 3200' elevation to access so many things to do in the area and then to come back to your "home away from home ".

Minutes from Epic Mountain Biking, Hiking & Waterfalls in Dupont State Forest , local breweries, fishing, Pisgah National Forest & a 10 minute drive to downtown Brevard for shopping, restaurants & Brevard College. Only 40-60 minutes to destinations in Asheville.

There is an additional queen bed in the basement entry and small office area downstairs if you have to work while traveling (all bathrooms are upstairs ) .
We have a pack and play available upon request (there is an extra nominal fee ) if you are travelling with toddlers. It has an extra waterproof mattress and all you have to bring are appropriate linens.

There is also an area to store & lock your bikes or kayaks while you go hiking or sightseeing.

We have made every effort to make this comfortable for you, your family and your dogs ! We allow up to 3 well behaved dogs of any size with a pet fee .

We use non toxic, cruelty free cleaners with lavender, lemon and peppermint essential oils used. All guest linens are washed between guests !

We loved the mountain views, the comfortable feel of the house and the great deck for sunrise, happy hour and sunset. Bentley, the dog, felt right at home. Everything was top flight and we timed our trip perfectly for colors and weather.

70th Birthday Celebration

Outstandingly clean with everything that you need for a 3 day retreat with family. Four of us (my brother-in-law, his wife my wife and myself) celebrating my 70th birthday! Perfect location, perfect weather. More than anything Gerraldine was so helpful above and beyond the call of duty! Thank you again Gerraldine. You are the BEST!!!

Come for the mountains, stay for the sunrises!

It is impossible to express what a magnificent time my family and I had at Sky Dog!!! The cabin is gorgeous and so well appointed. We needed only our clothes and our dogs food. Kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, everything you need has been thought of! The location is convenient to all of our day trips and we found ourselves coming back earlier each day to enjoy as many hours on the porch as possible If you have dogs, you will deeply appreciate the fenced in area. It's the perfect size, landscaped beautifully, and gives the dogs a chance to stretch their legs. The cabin's deck is a MUST in the mornings. The sunrises are simply spectacular! Can't wait to return!

Excellent

The house is beautiful and clean with well stocked kitchen and nice bathrooms. Love the front porch. Great for just sitting and relaxing and not worrying about little ones. The fenced yard is a plus. Super vacation.

A+ in the Mountains

Our second stay at Sky Dog, which quite possibly has the best covered porch in all of western NC. This comfortable and secluded home is the perfect base camp for a hiking vacation. While there, we hit Caesars Head, Table Rock, DuPont, and Pisgah, all within an hours drive. We also spent an afternoon poking around downtown Brevard and a day visiting family in the Greenville SC area, which is an hour away. We will be back! Thanks, Sky Dog, for letting us travel with our trail-loving border terrier. 💙

Beautiful appointed dog-friendly mountain view home

Overall, the stay was great and the host was very responsive! Other than limited cell phone service, we loved the location, the accommodations and the ability to relax. Our dogs loved being able to run outside in the fenced in area and we loved cooking (everything we needed to cook and bake was fully provided) and relaxing both inside and out. We would definitely stay here again!!!

Refreshing escape from the heat

We were so thankful for such a wonderful, dog-friendly place to stay during the week of the 4th of July. Our 11 year old dog is very frightened by loud noises and our neighborhood LOVES fireworks and it goes on for hours on the 4th of July. Sky Dog was just what we all needed. We had a great time exploring nearby waterfalls during the day and then relaxed back at the house and enjoyed cool breezes on the beautiful deck, birds chirping and hummingbirds in all their beauty. We really enjoyed how close we were to lots of fun things to do and great food to eat. There were plenty of options less than 20 minutes away, which was wonderful! One of our favorite waterfalls was at Dupont State Forest off of Grassy Creek Falls trail. Our dog was able to relax in the cool water near the falls and it was more secluded than the other main falls at Dupont State Forest, which made for great pictures and videos! We were so thankful for all of the dog supplies that were provided and the chemical-free soaps, detergents, etc. We have so many great memories to cherish from our time at Sky Dog and highly recommend it!

Great Vacation at SkyDog

This property was excellent. Place of solitude but near area outdoor attractions such as waterfalls and hikes to beautiful overlooks and vistas. The property owner was extremely helpful and easy to get in touch with. The property is setup perfectly for dogs as well, our Tank loved it. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Secluded mountain home with beautiful view

Located just south of Brevard so as to be quiet and scenic. Close to some of the best waterfalls. A very dog friendly home with a fenced yard and a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the cool weather. Would stay here again.

30 Wedding Anniversary Getaway

We rented to celebrate our anniversary in the area of Brevard we love. This home has a wonderful covered deck, fenced back yard for your pups. The kitchen is nicely stocked with pots and pans. Even with our outdoor plans foiled by rain for most of the trip. The house gave us a perfect spot to slow down and relax.

A wonderful place to relax and enjoy our great mountain forest.

Our vacation was incredibly relaxing. The home was even better than the online photos. Our furbaby, Roxanne enjoyed the huge fenced in yard and so did we. The view was awesome. We will be returning for more time to soak it all in!

Dogs and humans all enjoyed our break from summer heat!

From the moment we arrived, our two senior dogs seemed to feel like they were right at home. The property is set up to keep the dogs safely and comfortably contained on the main floor. A door and a gate are available to keep them from wandering upstairs or into the basement. It’s easy to walk them out to the fenced yard for frequent potty breaks. Food and water bowls, pick-up bags, and a rack to hang leashes are set up right by the entry door. There’s a wonderful deck for dining, relaxing and stargazing, and it’s well fenced to safely contain the dogs. The couches have sturdy protective covers. I’ve focused my comments on the dogs for this review since this property is so very well set up for dogs. We’ve stayed at plenty of properties that allow dogs, but in this case the house is set up to make your stay with your dogs very safe and reliable. All the comments made by others are relevant - quiet retreat that’s convenient to Brevard and other towns, proximity to bike trails, hiking, and so on. My husband and son were impressed with the bike wash, as it actually includes a station to elevate the bikes for maintenance and washing. The bedrooms are clean and modern, with very comfortable mattresses. The kitchen is well stocked and perfectly suitable for cooking meals on-site after a day of outdoor adventures. The large basement area is adjacent to the parking spot, and very handy to store a cartop carrier and valuable mountain bikes. We would certainly stay here again when visiting the area.

Relaxing Getaway

I booked this property without knowing a whole lot about the area. My husband, my brother, and I were looking for a nice place to take my mom since she had not been on a vacation since my father died two years ago. She has become very attached to her dog, so we chose this property because they were the most pet friendly. We were totally blown away by how nice this property was! The porch had amazing views and comfortable furniture. The area was remote enough to be quiet but still within an easy drive of Brevard and several parks when we wanted to get out. I was a little concerned about the property being located on a gravel road as I drive a sedan but even after two nights of heavy rain, the road was still easily drivable. We are already talking about when we can return to this property again!

Perfect home base for hiking vacation

We loved the seclusion of this home. Some of the best hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains were within 20-60 minutes. The front porch/deck was heavenly -- private, quiet except for birdsong. Thank you for a great vacation!

Memorial Day Vacay

Our stay at the Blue Sky Dog house was great… everything you could want for a mountain get away. House was clean and well stocked. Porch was great w a nice view. We were close to trails and to town. Had a great time!

Very clean house with great mountain view

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The house was nicely furnished and well stocked with essentials. The kitchen was very nice as well. I loved drinking my coffee in the morning on the deck watching the birds eating from the bird feeders and the mountain view is great. I really liked the comfortable patio furniture with new cushions. There several waterfalls nearby. The final portion of the drive is a little steep, but manageable without having 4wheel drive. I would definitely rent this house again. The only suggestions I have for the owner are: not storing cleaning supplies and spare rugs in the main floor closet so guests have room in the closet for clothes, a dresser instead of the shelve-case would have been more convenient in the main floor bedroom as well for people staying beyond a few nights, a space heater would be nice for the downstairs bedroom (fortunately we did not use this bedroom because it stayed cold regardless of the temperature in the rest of the house), and moving the keypad to a different door to avoid having to walk through a bedroom to get in and out of the house - the kitchen door seems to me like a better option.

Excellent for outdoorsy types with dogs!

We travel a fair bit since I am up and down the East coast filming properties. My wife and I both are also pretty competitive runners and cyclists so being near trails is imperative. We stayed here for just about a week, home is just as described. Dogs are welcomed which is great since we bring ours everywhere. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner here and the kitchen is very updated and well stocked. I don’t have anything negative to say! We will be back!

Excellent location and beautiful property!

This location was perfect for our family. We loved hiking in the morning/afternoon and then spending the evenings relaxing on the porch, by the fire and exploring the property. House was perfect and well-maintained. Can’t beat the sunrise on the front porch.

Weekend Getaway

We spent a wonderful long weekend at Sky Dog Mountain Retreat with our adult children and their dog. If hiking and craft beer are your thing, you’ll find plenty to do within a short drive from the cabin! We had everything we needed to make some great breakfasts and dinners in the well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking at the mountain views in the morning with a cup of coffee or tea and in the evening with a glass of wine. Plenty of comfortable seating for everyone to hang out together in the living room and play games or watch movies. Be aware if you are traveling with enough people to need the downstairs “bedroom” (really just the one-room finished part of the basement at the bottom of the stairs), it has no access to a bathroom that isn’t inside another bedroom suite.
