Quiet family stay

Great place. Yes some stink bugs but easy enough to deal with (owner left a vacuum out which was convenient). Be sure to pull the door really shut. Overall nice quiet location and pleasant stay. Communication with owner easy

Raystown Lake vaca

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Raystown Family Hideway. Interior space was awesome, fire pit and hot tub a major plus!! Mike was very responsive. We Love visiting Raystown Lake and hope to stay at the Hideway again soon.

Great spot

We had a really great weekend at this property. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was great, and we also enjoyed the fire pit. Perfect location, would definitely stay there again. Thanks!

Little getaway

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend at the house. Not many places near by, but I'm sure in the summer there would be plenty to do at Raystown Lake!

The good: -Beautiful location at the top of a mountain while being really close to a cute, historic town. -Million dollar views from the deck and the hot tub The not so good: -Grest open concept kitchen and living area

Great for families with teens

Had a wonderful time on a weekend stay. The porch/fire pit area had a great vibe, and our teens loved it and the yard. Suggestion - put a lock on the bathroom door and/or bedroom doors would be helpful. Host was very responsive. We would return. :-)

Great access to Raystown Lake

This is a really nice location with easy access to Seven Points Recreation Area for picnics, walking trails, disc golf, swimming, boating, and hiking/biking the Allegrippis trails, and it's also just a short drive to Huntington, Lincoln Caverns, and the H&BT Rail Trail. The property is really nice, with a big yard and great views of the valleys and sunsets. We loved the hot tub and grill, and spent the evenings stargazing off the back deck. Michael is very responsive and answers questions right away. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend getaway.

I first have to mention the obvious- this place is absolutely INFESTED with stink bugs. We must have flushed three dozen during our short two day stay. Secondly, it seems the home is under some construction so we tried to be understanding, but as two women staying here alone I can't say we felt very safe considering there are no deadbolts on the doors, no locks on bedroom doors, and the basement door is closed shut with only a small nail, no lock. My best friend also stepped on a piece of broken glass in the master bedroom the first day we stayed. The real disappointment was the hot tub, as it was a big part of why we booked here. It was absolutely FOUL and had obviously not been cleaned at all recently. There were large chunks of gray scum floating everywhere, which prevented us from using the tub at all. The kitchen is nicely renovated, but not stocked with basics like measuring cups/spoons and the sink was clogged with a large amount of hair, which was pretty gross. The dishwasher was not hooked up, so we had to hand-wash all dishes. I will say that the location was great, secluded but still close to shops and attractions, but the house left a lot to be desired.

Our stay had some pros and some cons.What we liked: The updated kitchen was very nice, spacious, and comfortable. The living room worked very well to relax for a little time together. We loved the fire pit and sitting outside in the evening was very nice. Owners were easy to get in touch with. They were kind enough to let us know that the cleaners would be later to arrive, so that we could check out a little later. That was very great!What could be improved: The hot tub appeared to be leaking when we arrived. We used it, but it never got hot, actually it just got colder, so that was a big disappointment. Perhaps the leaking was related to the heat issues. Half bath was under construction. The owners did let us know about the construction a few days ahead of time, but by the looks of it, it has been under construction for a significant period of time (A review from 3-4 weeks prior noted the same construction). The bedrooms had no lights other than a single lamp. On top the that the bunk room didn't even have a lightbulb in the lamp in that room and I had to take one from another light fixture. I am not trying to be a downer, but my overall impression was that the budget was spent on renovating the kitchen and living room and everything else from the bedrooms to the deck furniture, to the utensils became an afterthought and done a cheaply as possible. TLDR: Nice kitchen, fire pit & living space, everything else is in need of work

Lake house for the week

House itself was very nice and cozy for the two of us. Kitchen and living room were in good condition and comfortable for the week. Kitchen supplies were ok to cook with but utensils etc could be better. We only used one of three bedrooms and that one was fine so I can't speak for the other two. As for the outside, that's where we were not happy. At first look, weeds could have been taken care of. The outside was overgrown around the trampoline and jungle gym or rope area. The hot tub was disgusting and hasn't been cleaned in a while. We did receive a message right before check in from the host saying it was just treated but from the brown water and bubbles, we could not bring ourselves to get in. --and that was so disappointing since the hot tub was the deciding factor on the house for us. Also outside was the two tables and chairs which didn't look like they'd been cleaned in forever. The back deck wasn't usable - no furniture to sit on and take in the great view and the deck isn't in good shape, which even the host noted to use at your own risk of splinters etc. Overall, the house seems to be in the process of being updated and is adequate. We spent most of our days on the lake but cooked in the evenings and hoped to spend that time outside on the deck or in the hot tub - neither of which were done. So, yes the house is good for proximity to the lake, AC nice and cool, kitchen is large and decent for cooking but if using the outside is what you want, look elsewhere.

Nice location, but overall disappointing

The pictures definitely did not accurately depict the property. The place was filthy. Dust coated everything, dead bugs and thick dust under and on the furniture. I have severe allergies, so this was extremely problematic. I was miserable all weekend. Any dishes used had to be scrubbed before using, there was tons of crumbs and whole French fries in the oven drawer and all of the lower cabinets had tons of crumbs and dirt. No suitable cleaning products in the home. I realize everyone doesn’t have the same standards of clean, but this was downright disgusting. Tons of holes in the walls, which made us uncomfortable, we had to stick toilet paper in them, because you just never know. Definitely would not return.

Great spacious property

It has become a bit of a family tradition to spend a few days away from home after Christmas each year. Raystown was the destination of choice this year, and this house checked the boxes we were looking for. The location is perfect. Out of the way, but a quick drive up to Huntingdon, or down to the main marina and recreation area at Raystown. The property is huge, probably an acre or more, and set back a good fifty yards from the road. Perfect for walking/exercising your dog if you bring them. The house has a nice open floorplan kitchen/dining/living room, with three spacious bedrooms in the back. Our girls loved the bunk beds in the kid’s room, and we were very happy in the master bedroom. Again, lots of room throughout the house if you’re bringing a dog with you; we set up our crate in the dining area. With the amount of space, you could easily have two families, or a multi-generational family staying here, with the only drawback being that there is only one full bathroom (and a half bath in the master bedroom). It could also be good if you have friends/family camping near Raystown but are looking for a bit more of a solid place to call home base. Honestly, this house reminded me of what I used to love about VRBO. You can tell this is a family sharing their vacation spot rather than some faceless real estate investor trying to make bank. And no unreasonable fees or unrealistic house chores. Thanks for a great stay!

Dirty, very poorly equipped.

Very disappointed in this property and cannot recommend it. The rugs were disgusting, as were cupboards and baseboards & frames on walls. There were fake flowers and bric-a-brac/tchotchkes everywhere layers deep in dust. In the kitchen, there was not a single cupboard for food storage; every single one was filled with stuff, much of which was literal junk. There were no measuring cups or spoons, no scissors except one rusted pair of meat shears, and a broken can opener. We thought maybe the pie safe was for our food storage, but no - it was filthy and unusable. Lights over stove don’t work. In the MBR, every single dresser drawer was filled with sheets so there was no where to store our clothes. There is not a window blind in the house and mostly sheer curtains, so we had no shot at getting small kids to sleep past sunrise PLUS the spotlight on the garage shone in the front bedroom windows all night. Stinkbugs were our constant companions. Gnawed mouse bait was left behind the couch where dogs or children could get to it; thank heavens we found it. There was no rug inside the door which was not great when it rained. Owners specify no shoes in the house although the floors were far from clean. Also, there is not a single a closet door in the house, so there’s no place to store anything where small kids or dogs cannot get into it. In fact, there are no door FRAMES in the MBa or around the closet, and not enough lights in any BRs.

Cozy home in great location

Loved staying in this home. Only 10 minutes from seven points Marina. Snyders run and James creek are within 20! The hot tub was so nice on the cool October nights and the fire pit area was such a nice surprise! (You should have a photo of that on the listing. Super cute!) Also very private with no neighbors in site. Home was nicely decorated and the kitchen was fully stocked with any houseware you may need for your stay. Would definitely stay again.

Lake house

The Deck is in poor condition weeds growing through. weeds not cut around property. under kids trampoline. the grill was so filthy we never used we brought a portable grill . no washer /dryer property needs a lot of attention.

Just what we were looking for

The property actually went beyond our expectations! Lovely home. Very comfortable. Well stocked. Included their hot tub, fire ring, tiki torches, rope swing that my grandson loved and a great area for the grand dog to run. We had one of our best family trips and this property was part of making it so fun! Thank you very much. We hope to come back soon!!

Beautiful location

Our stay was perfect. The dogs loved the wide open yard and just running off their leashes. The property has a trampoline which happened to be my 2, 5, and 6 year Olds FAVORITE part of the their stay at this home. The location is absolutely beautiful! The location is great not far from most stuff but also secluded enough to where you have no immediate neighbors and don't have to worry about bothering anyone else. Theres a hot tub that is available for your use and its wonderful. Nothing like a night in the mountains sitting in the hot tub looking out. Michael was very easy to communicate with and very helpful with information about the property and helpful hints about the community! We will definitely be booking again in the future.

Charming, cozy and comfortable cabin

We all loved staying at Michael's place - extremely well equipped, it had everything we needed. Communication was great, the location is perfect, very close to main road but isolated enough and with a beautiful view. The hot tub was warm and we spent a great time. Unfortunately, it rained the whole time so we didn't get a lot of opportunity to explore the outdoor area, but we'd love to go back to spend more time there. Thank you!
