Our unique home has two separate private living quarters for the early risers and the night owls. Gather at the private heated pool and hot tub and game room. South Padre's incredible beach is located a short walk away. Close to shopping, grocery stores, and waterfront dining. The Whale House is a perfect getaway that can accommodate everyone.

Great time

We loved the space and the pool and hot tub. There were a few things to address when we arrived, and we appreciated Rod being prompt to address them. We had the best time.

First visit to South Padre

Good location, nice neighborhood and spacious accommodations.Unfortunately, needs some minor maintenance and the carpet is very dirty, which is the first thing you see when you get in.

Relaxing stay!

We really enjoyed having a beautiful private pool/spa. The beds were comfortable. The host responded quickly to questions. The Whale House had plenty of space for 8 adults/1 toddler.

Great house for the entire family

Honest Review!!

Please be aware of this property! Immediately after walking in the house, you were hit with a strong mold smell . The smell was in the upstairs living area. We found that all the upstairs vents had what looked like mold around them. We took pictures and sent it to the owners. They told us it was AC condensation and sent cleaners out in the middle of us cooking dinner. The house immediately smelled like strong bleach. Once the cleaning products wore off, the mold smell returned. I reached out again to the owners and no response. We paid so much money and drove 8 hours for my daughters cheer competition just to have our weekend stay ruined. 4 people in our party are sick. We had a party of 9 people. The only positive was the outdoor pool area and we stayed outside most of the time because it was horrible. We couldn’t believe that someone who was asking for a review not want to make this right. Anyways, this is an honest review from an honest loving family!

Better than in pictures

Our family had a wonderful time at this unexpecting home. The decore is a little off other than that, the space was clean, spacious and well worth the stay. There were plenty of bedrooms that had very comfortable beds. There were also plenty of bathrooms, although the hallway bathroom shower did not have much water pressure as the others. What I loved most about this home were the 2 kitchens. It was so helpful when preparing a meal for a big family. Overall, we had a wonderful time, thank you for the opportunity to stay at your home.

Whale 🐳 House

It was a great house everyone had their own bedroom and 4bathrooms made getting ready so much easier. We had the best time and the hosts took great care of us.

Great vacation home

Property worked great for our multi-family vacation. Plenty of room and separate game space for teens. Pool and hottub was just what we wanted. Lots of local food choices close by.

A whale of a time at The Whale house

Great location and amenities. Was perfect for meeting the guide at Jim's Pier, shopping IGA and HEB and SPICG was within 20 minutes. Plenty of room for 4 of us seniors.

Great bayside home

This is a very pretty home with beautiful decorating. The pool was fabulous with a shade sail over it. (That was perfect for those very hot, humid days.) A 10 min. walk to the beach. Two kitchens were nice,. But didn't have enough big pots to cook seasi or life for the pots and plans.

Great location, great owners

The home is located less than a mile from all of the main bars/restaurants. We rented golf carts to get around for the weekend and it was perfect. Had a couple small issues but the hosts were very responsive if needed and offered to help any way they could. Would stay again

Whale House

This was the perfect place for our family to stay over Christmas. We used the pool and hot tub almost daily and we did a lot of cooking. We had great space with the two kitchens, but there was room for all of us to eat together upstairs. Nichole was very responsive to any questions or issues that we had. Overall, we had a great time there!

Whale House Stay August 8-11, 2024

We were a group of 10 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the whale house. The house was very clean and nicely furnished for our stay. The pool and hot tub were very clean, we enjoyed both of them during our stay. The switch outside for the lights in the pool and backyard as well as the hot tub were not working, We called the property manager and immediately he was able to turn them on remotely. He told us whenever we want to use the hot tub, just text him and he will turn it on. The kitchen was fully furnished, we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The beds were super comfortable and the a/c worked great! We would definitely stay at the house during our trip next year.

Summer 2022 getaway

Whale experience

Beautiful home located in a convenient location to restaurants, shopping and fun entertainment. This house is very spacious and has everything needed for home away from home. It has its own personal oasis in the backyard. We will miss the beautiful pool the most. We will definitely plan another trip to visit this house.

Relaxing Family Getaway

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation. We had plenty of room for our large family. We enjoyed the beach the most, secondly was the pool and hot tub. They have everything you need to enjoy a full day at the beach, a large heavy duty shade tent, umbrellas, a couple smaller pop up tents, some chairs, lots of toys and a cooler. I had a couple questions during the stay and she responded very quick. I would recommend this house. We had a whale of a time.

As advertised

We enjoyed our stay at the whale house. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we were in the house more than planned but it was plenty big for 9 guests. We used both kitchens and unexpectedly used the garage and ping pong table a lot and enjoyed it. Easy walk to the beach. Short Uber to most places on the island. Had minor issue and Nicole was on it immediately. Pool and hot tub were heated and we were able to use them in colder weather. We would stay here again.

Pleased overall

Overall, had a great time at the house. I would definitely rebook provided the opportunity to visit SPI again. Going forward, I would just recommend that visitors verify the hot tub is operational prior to their stay. Other than that, I have no other significant complaints.

Beautiful Clean Home in Nice Location

We had a good stay overall! House was clean. Pool was clean and clear when we arrived. There were some issues with the temperature on pool and spa and the main door digital lock but host was very responsive and corrected it timely. Satisfied with response time for issues. Location was great 5-10 (3 blocks) walk to beach. Nice neighborhood with a park for the kids about a block away which was nice for us traveling with 3 toddlers. There were beach toys, umbrellas, tents, wagons for us to use which was amazing! I don’t think it says that anywhere in the description so adding here in case people are wondering. Overall nice clean place, good location and would definitely stay again.

Exceeded expectations!

We booked this home for our family vacation not only was it extremely clean and spacious but it was in close proximity to the beach and just blocks away from restaurants and fast food. The owners were nice and responded promptly to our requests. They left the pool lights on longer so that we could enjoy the outdoors into the night. They even had extra pool towels and beach chairs/umbrellas for the guest to use! The pool is just beautiful and so comfortable. The children was in it early morning and late at night. I would highly recommend this home and would definitely book again if we’re ever in South Padre Island. Our family loved our stay at the Whale House

This was our first time ever renting a home and we loved it. This house is very spacious and has an amazing pool and hot tub. We had another family rent a house close by, they didn't have a pool, so they joined us on our first day there. A gas grill is provided for some burgers and hot dogs. This house had the basic kitchen tools one can cook. It also had towels but not enough for the max of people it can stay and did have like 4 beach towels we can also use. Over all the only 2 things not so good were that the upstairs shower didn't have very much pressure, it would take us longer to shower, and found hairs on some towels, which we took our own for back up. Aside from that we would definitely stay here again.

Disappointed

The pluses: very clean, nice size and layout, good location, comfortable beds. The minuses: general upkeep is not done on the property. There was a zip tie holding one shower head on, missing towel rack, loose toilet, broken toilet paper holder, burnt out light bulbs, very stained carpet. There were not enough towels. No large platters or bowls. Inadequate pans. Lack of forks. Especially for the number of guests the house can accommodate. On the lower level one BR TV was broken and had been for sometime. The other BR TV could not be signed on for streaming. But the REAL issue was the pool. When I look for a rental the most important amenity is a pool. The area was grown up with weeds and a fallen tree. Just looked shabby. When we arrived the pool looked a little cloudy but we were on vacation, right!? Next day worse. And finally so stagnant and gross we opted to not go in. The owners did try and get a pool guy. There were 2 or 3 of them who did not fix the problem with the pump or jets. Finally, a knowledgeable guy was able to get it to clear up. We lost the pool for more than half of our time. The real kicker is the property was vacant for 3 weeks previous to our arrival giving plenty of time to address issues. The pool was so dirty and unsafe that my husband got an outer ear infection causing him to need 2 different rounds of antibiotics. The owners were very prompt to reply and very nice but these problems were ongoing and not addressed before we got there which is what should have happened. I hate to be so negative but I have rented many times through VRBO and honest reviews are important. I paid a premium price for this property and feel like I did not get my money's worth. Hopefully, the owners will address these issues because it could really be a nice property.
