We recently spent two wonderful weeks on Maui. The temperature is in the 80ā€™s, the sky is blue, the sunsets are breathtaking, the water is warm, and the humpback whales are back.
While we were able to get a glimpse of the extensive damage to the Lahaina area, we are happy to report that the Kaanapali area remains unscathed. The restaurants and shops in the Kaanapali Whalerā€™s Village, Honokowai, Kahana, and Kapalua are open.
It is without a doubt tragic, and the charming town of Lahaina is sorely missed. We canā€™t help but stress that Maui is still beautiful, and this is an opportunity to explore other areas on the island. We spent time in Makawao and Paia and it reminded us of Lahaina without the ocean. Cute stores, good food and a great place for people watching.
You will see that the local people are healing, and the Aloha Spirit is very much alive as the entire island welcomes the return of visitors.


Relax on our spacious lanai. Itā€™s the perfect place to enjoy the sunrise, eat your meals, read a book, take a nap, or watch the sun as it sets over blue waters of the Au'au channel between Maui and the island of Lanai.

Location, location, location! Hale Ono Loa is located between the Kaanapali resort area and the Kapalua golf courses and world famous beaches. The condo is 10 minutes from Lahania and only 5 minutes to the best beaches on Maui.

From the spacious oceanfront lanai on the upper floor of our low-rise complex you can enjoy the morning sunrise and tropical gardens and then relax in evening as the sun sets over blue waters of the Au'au channel between Maui and the island of Lanai. This condo unit is located away from the parking area and the street, so the only sounds that you will hear are those of the ocean.

Our association completed a renovation of the entire complex, with Hale Ono Loa now being the crown jewel of the numerous oceanfront properties located along the west Maui beachfront.

Our oceanfront vacation condo has been completely remodeled and decrorated with the tropical furnishings. You will find it is fully equipped with all of the essential amenities for your comfort. The living room has a ceiling fan, high speed wireless internet, and the 43ā€ flat screen TV has an HD cable box for viewing your favorite shows or events.

The kitchen has granite counter-tops, top-grade stainless steel appliances, including, dishwasher, glass cook-top and range, microwave and solid cherry wood cabinets. The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the essential amenities for preparing a grommet meal. There are ceiling fans in both the living room and bedroom, in addition to the natural Hawaii trade winds to provide the perfect environment for your stay in Maui.

The bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower and granite vanity.

Your bedroom is both comfortable and spacious, with an eight foot long closet and a large chest of drawers to store your belongings. From this bedroom you can lie on the new Cal-King plush mattress and enjoy the soothing sound of the surf. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom and of course you always have the Hawaiian trade winds for cooling comfort.

The private large pool and sun deck area is surrounded with large coconut palms and numerous tropical plants. These tropical gardens are well maintained; giving you the feeling that you are a part of Old Hawaii. This area is located on the ocean and will provide you with many hours of comfort and relaxation.

During the whale season (November through April) you can watch whales and spinning Dolphins from the sun deck or your lanai. The reef located in front of our complex provides an excellent opportunity for snorkeling, surfing, or just plain watching the surfers and turtles. All this while enjoying the sound of waves breaking on the reefs.
Our condo is equipped with beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, and a large cooler for your use.

Maui is the perfect place for your vacation or a wedding celebration and Hale Ono Loa provides all of the comforts and conveniences you will need during your stay with us.

Another Enjoyable Stay at Hale Ono Loa

Nice property with a great location, view and lanai. Enjoyed turtle spotting and snorkeling directly from property. Quiet and relaxing environment, though when air movement slows, or effectively ceases it can quickly get a little, 'stuffy' (which it did on a couple of days during our stay). Overall very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

This condo was perfect! The bed was comfortable, the kitchen stocked with needed items and there were towels and toys for the beach. I wished that the property had a beach but one is not too far away.

Slice of Paradise - Just bring your bathing suits!

Perfect location! Great hosts! Lovely condo with comfortable bed and all the amenities for beach going. This was our third visit with these hosts. We could not be happier. The condo is 5 minutes to Kapalua, our favorite beach. It is a quiet complex with washer/dryer access just down the hall and it has plenty of parking. The pool is well maintained, but with the beaches so close we hardly used it. And the sunsets....ahhhh!

Beautiful--and Great Value!

This charming one-bedroom oceanview condo is the perfect spot to relax and yet it's close to everything in West Maui. It's on the third floor, but there is an elevator for those who don't like stairs. The breezes keep the unit cool and fresh, and the view from the lanai (balcony) is gorgeous. The unit has everything you'd need for a short stay, and if you like to end your day with a little TV, there are two large flat screens. The grounds are beautiful, the condo is updated and clean and it's quiet and breezy for restful sleeping. We really enjoyed our short stay (10 days) and we're sure you will too!

Amazing view but, unit needs some TLC

Communication with owners was great. They were flexible about possible Covid cancelation, and responsive to questions and requests. Pics are accurate, view is awesome, beach supplies were terrific, but unit needs to be cleaned better and living room furniture and rug needs to be replaced or cleaned at minimum. Overall we were mostly out and about and enjoyed eating on the balcony and sleeping in the bed which was comfy, we hardly used living room.

Great part of Maui

Good location as we split time between DT Fleming beach 10 min north and Kaanapali beaches 10 min south. There isnā€™t sand at this condo complex although there is access to the water to snorkel. (They may have sandy beach at certain times of year? But in March the water went straight up to the retaining wall, and it is shallow but rocky.) Plenty of places nearby to rent decent snorkel gear, boogie boards, etc. condo has a nice cooler and beach chairs which we used everywhere we went. The deck has a comfortable dining area and great view. Lots of whales, surprisingly close! We had some brief power and cable/internet outage during a severe storm and owners were quick to help us reset things. You need to bring quarters and detergent to do laundry at the laundry room just a few doors down.

Location, Location, Location!

Views from lanai were spectacular. I loved my morning coffee and watching the day unfold. We watched the sunsets, ocean wave action, sail boats all while enjoying a cocktail and/dinner from the privacy of the lanai. Glad to have a screen to pull down to block the mid afternoon sun. Condo was comfortable. We always enjoyed a good nights sleep. Wifi, internet and tv were welcomed amenities. No landline or tv in the bedroom but hey that was no problem for us. As other renters mentioned no oven, however, there are plans to have one installed. Loved the walk-in shower. Outdoor grills definitely used by the pool. Beach chairs, umbrella and cooler were used for our visits to close by beaches. Enjoyed sunbathing on the outdoor patio, overlooking the ocean and watching sunsets too. Coin operated laundry facilities and trash chute were conveniently located just down the hall. Never missed A/C, always a nice breeze blowing. Richard and Lisa were easy to work with and responded quickly to all our requests and questions. Would we revisit this piece of paradise, ā€œyou bet chaā€.

Nice condo but some bumps during our stay

This condo has a fantastic view of the ocean, and we loved seeing a resident sea turtle hanging out so close to the pool balcony area. The unit itself is nice, clean, and has a lovely shower. There are plenty of cooking supplies to make meals there if you choose. The photos shown are accurate to what the condo looks like. I've deducted two stars of my review for the following reasons: 1. Due to how the building is situated around the pool area and neighboring building, it is not very private, and pretty noisy during the day due to folks/kids using the pool. 2. The biggest challenge for our stay was when the water was unexpectedly shut off. There wasn't any note or anything, and we were trying to figure out what was going on. It turned out there was a water leak in the unit next door, which totally wasn't the owner's fault and doesn't negatively impact this review. What was really frustrating was that we called the owner a couple times and left one voicemail as we were trying to assess the situation. No call back. We finally emailed several hours later, after the water had just been turned on. We received an email back awhile later saying that they had been traveling, and hoped we were having a good stay. No response about our frustration, and it kind of felt like it was an inconvenience to have emailed them. That's the reason I'm taking a star off, not because of the leak itself. Stuff happens, but we felt that the owner's lack of responsiveness was the problem.

Cozy and comfortable apartment with amazing view.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment during our week long vacation in Maui. The apartment was clean and neat when we checked in, with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry access. The balcony opens up to an amazing view of the ocean, and we got alot of cool breeze throughout the day, so totally fine without AC. The location is perfect for us, with easy access to plenty of snorkling spots. Food and grocery are also close by. Hosts, Lisa and Richard were very helpful with providing useful information before we travelled. Definitely a recommended stay for couple/family with a young child. Thank you!

The view from our window 3rd floor is beautiful! Very serene. The room was good, clean, spacious, great kitchen. Had trouble getting the key from lockbox, hard to open. Grounds beautiful; no activities; had problem with person communication; done by online mostly. For seniors kinda hard. But we still enjoyed our stay there.

Location and view are superb

The views from the Lani are always pleasant and we enjoy eating our meals their. This property is noisey one due to the outside maintenance that is being done and the other having to have the windows open in the bedroom for cross ventilation and it backs to another property and busy road, You do get to hear the waves coming on shore which is nice. Most units have no air-conditioning but the complex and location are what bring us back each year.

Great Stay

This unit was clean and comfortable. Good quality and comfortable bed and we enjoyed the comfortable furniture especially on the lani. We ate all of our meals on the lani enjoying the great view and even after dark we enjoyed it for reading thanks to the overhead lights. The kitchen is well stocked. The only negative would be to have some kitchen and bathroom cleaning supplies so we could keep it as clean as it was when we arrived. We recommend this unit for future stays.

Hoping to stay here a third time this summer

This was our second stay at the property and we enjoyed our time yet again. When we landed at 7PM, we did receive a text that the property was not yet cleaned but would be by 9PM. It wasn't a big issue for us as we had to still get our rental car, grab dinner and do some grocery shopping. Everything was completed prior to our arrival at the property. This place if perfect for our family with 2 children. Our kids love the pool and whale/turtle watching for the the huge deck on the grounds. Also, a huge plus that there are beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler and boogie board.

View & ocean waves

Easy check-in. View as advertised, enjoyed sleeping with the sound of the ocean, comfortable mattress. Unit was perfect for 2 adults, bathroom & kitchen are small. A few maintenance issues in the unit that owners are going to work on. Dripping facet was really annoying for a month. Owners are easy to communicate with, added the golf channel & new router which was appreciated. The complex is quiet & well maintained. We would certainly stay again.

Great view and location

My husband and our two sons, ages 10 and 8, stayed here recently and had a great time. Everything was as described in the listing - although I don't think the photos do the unit justice. Overall it's a good value - nothing fancy but it worked just fine for us. The only thing we didn't love was the really cold pool. Even my sons who are polar bears didn't enjoy swimming in it. However, the beaches in Hawaii are where it's at anyway so it was no big deal about the pool. The owners are responsive and provide easy instructions for accessing the unit. Overall a very good stay and value. Mahalo!

The condo was really nice with a good view. The king size bed very comfortable. We were surprised it didnā€™t have a/c but it really wasnā€™t needed except from maybe 3-5:30pm. The ocean looked beautiful below us but unfortunately it was unusable due to rocks and rough seas so we drove to the public beach to use. We saw a lot of turtles at the public beach.

Great get away vacation

This is the 3rd time we have rented from Dick and Lisa and this time we booked 11 nights.. The condo is beautiful and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The view is excellent and the sunsets are spectacular. The turtles came in to feed on the reef right in front of the complex daily. Dick and Lisa are excellent hosts and quick to respond with answers to any questions. We hope to be back soon!

Amazing Balcony & Views

We loved our stay here! Stayed for a week and loved relaxing on the patio with coffee in the morning and for sunsets in the evening. Condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. We didnā€™t have a car, but the Maui bus line runs right next to the condo and can take you pretty much anywhere worth going on the island.

Lisa was born and raised in Honolulu and has always wanted to have a piece of paradise in Hawaii. We both agree that there is no better place on the islands then oceanfront on West Maui.
We both enjoy the ocean activities, swimming, snorkeling, scuba, and kayaking. All of these activities are only a few steps away from our condo at Hale Ono Loa. Golfing is our other favorite pastime, and where else could we find more challenging and beautiful courses then at Kapalua and the many other courses on Maui

Por que o anfitriĆ£o escolheu essa propriedade

After staying at several other condo complexā€™s that were all along the ocean in Honokowai, we found Hale Ono Loa. We liked this complex because it was large enough to have all of the amenities, like a good size pool, an elevator, and beautiful tropical grounds and yet small enough to provide a relaxing quite environment.


O que faz essa propriedade ser Ćŗnica?

We purchased our condo in 2005 and we have completely remodeled the condo and updated the condo again in 2018. We are in Maui for 4-5 months each year.

Hale Ono Loa has so much to enjoy, the beautiful sunsets, the soothing sounds of the ocean, watching the whales as they play just off the beach, or the green sea turtles that are located on the reefs in front of our condo.
The pool and the ocean-side sundecks have comfortable lounges for sunning or shady retreats for reading or whale watching. Since there are only 67 condos at Hale Ono Loa, there are never larger crowds at the pool and no waiting for lounge chairs, which often occurs at the hotels and larger resorts
