LOCATION: Located on Evergreen Road (the road that leads to the South Bethany Town Hall).

Joan's Ark is a quaint, affordable family beach house. This was our mother's home with the purpose of gathering her children and grandchildren together and holds many dear memories for all of us. Please note that this is a HOME; it is not owned by an investment or management company. It is simple, but well-equipped and maintains the essence of our mother. It is perfect for families and friends wanting to get away and enjoy the beach in a feel-at-home environment. It is located in Cat Hill in South Bethany and is close to Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. It is a little over a 5-minute walk to an expanded beach and provides the following for a perfect getaway:

· Short walk to beach from South Bethany's bay side
· An affordable rental fee that is lower than comparable rental homes that are within walking distance of the beach
· 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a bright, comfortable living area (*bring your own bed sheets, bath linens*)
· A well-equipped kitchen, perfect for communal meals (*bring your own kitchen linens*)
· A partial wraparound deck with a dining table and gas grill
· Plenty of parking
· An outdoor shower
· Located on the bay side, it provides easy access to view a network of canals and bird life to view on morning and evening strolls; one can also enjoy crabbing and fishing from the canals as well as renting stand up paddle (SUP) boards, kayaks or Hobie Cats nearby.
· Personal homey feel (this is not just a rental house; it's our home)
· Free WiFi
· Near a walking and bike path
· A short drive to a surfing beach and several state seashore parks
· Short drive to the shopping outlets in Rehoboth (no sales tax!)
· Located in South Bethany, one of the “Quiet Resorts”
· On a quiet day or night, you can hear the ocean sitting on our deck

· Must have an on-site renter at least 22 years or older
· During the high season we only do weekly rentals, but ask! *July is strictly weekly rentals from Friday to Friday.*

Good Vacation House

Overall the house was great. It had everything we needed and is walking distance from the beach but comes with a parking pass so you don’t need to walk if you don’t want to. The deck is in need of replacement. It didn’t seem safe to use. We have vacationed in South Bethany every year since I was born. The cleanliness was typical of all vacation rentals meaning the cleaners were probably there for about 20 minutes. That is not the owner’s fault. Just be prepared to do a little vacuuming and bathroom scrubbing yourself first.

I enjoyed staying here; 2 things- advertised as walking to beach possible. That walk is quite a stretch including crossing a busy road, so walking to beach is a no. Second thing, we had car parking pass. It would have been helpful to know they were only applicable in South Bethany (I got a ticket in Bethany). It was very helpful for owner’s response to questions, thank you!

Family Vacation

What a great vacation. The location is perfect to get to the beach and close by to restaurants and shops. If you bring a bike you can get around easily. The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed! Any communication I had with the owners was quickly answered and they were great to work with. We will most likely book again!!

Safe quiet neighborhood

The house met the details of the listing and had most of what we needed. Just a reminder that while the beds have blankets And pillows, they did not have sheets and there were no towels or wash cloths. Owners were responsive and helpful. Neighbors were great and the neighborhood was quiet. Close to the beach, 3 min drive or about 10ish walk.

Clean, Warm and Inviting

We loved the open feel of the kitchen. We could move around without bumping into each other and there is enough space to store groceries. The living room also has a welcoming vibe and very comfortable furniture. Bedrooms are spacious, beds comfy, slept soundly!!😴 We enjoyed our stay immensely!!

Lovely house

We had a great stay at this property. It was very close to the beach and not super crowded which was really nice. The house itself had all the accommodations we needed. Our kids loved the big swing under the porch. Communication with the owner was great. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Well loved family beach home

Overall we had a nice stay. You can tell the house is a well loved family beach home. Pros: -The location is great with a short walk to the beach. -Price is really great for the area with most places being way more expensive in South Bethany -Well appointed kitchen with everything you could need for cooking including oil and spices -house was clean -Beds were comfortable -Kids loved the swing under the house Cons: -Only main complaint is that the house has a very damp feel. Which also I think leads to a bit of a dingy smell to the house. A dehumidifier would likely help a ton.

Great place for a family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. House is exactly as described in the listing...you can't ask for anything more than that. Great value compared to the other rental options in the area. Walk to the beach was easy and South Bethany is a great place for a family. We would definitely rent Sandpiper Pines again.

Maybe good for their family, but not a nice rental

I am sorry to write a poor review, but with so many high ratings, I think it should be known that this house was very disappointing. Maybe it would work if you are just looking for a place to sleep after a full day at the beach, which you can walk to if you want to cross the highway and lug everything.... but I can't think of any other way of describing it but dingy. The carpet is old and dirty, the light bulbs are all different shades of orange and yellow, the cleaning supplies are super gross, bbq propane tank empty (which the owners also say you can go fill up yourself -- no thanks), the beach chairs rusty and the umbrella didn't even work. Oh it shakes too, which is super comforting. I thought that with the description about this being the family's "loved" beach house that it would be cute and well kept-- but as a renter that is not a member of their family -- it was not a good experience.

Bethany Beach Stay

We enjoyed our trip to Bethany Beach. The house was in a great location and we could easily walk to the beach. We enjoyed a peaceful getaway. We notified the owner about a broken beach umbrella and the bottom oven not heating properly. The house was clean and the large eat in kitchen worked out great. My only recommendation is to update the beds as they were not comfortable. The bottom bed in bunk room felt to be like a futon pad, not a mattress.

First visit back in 24 years to Bethany Beach

We enjoyed our stay at Sandpiper Pines. The house was nice & the area was quiet. The only one "problem" was the bedrooms have to much light coming in at night. We like a dark room. The queen bed for us bothered our backs we are use to an adjustable bed & "regular" mattress. That bed is a tempurpedic mattress.

Old school chill zone

"Joans Arc" was super cute and clean on a quiet street walking distance to the beach. Its like staying at your Aunts house at the shore. Furnature is older but in great condition. Family vibe all around. I would certainly stay there again.

Great get away!!

My daughter and I had a lovely week-long stay! The neighborhood was quiet and the house was clean and super comfortable. The kitchen is well supplied and we were able to make many of our meals "at home" instead of having to eat out. Communication with the property owners was terrific- rapid responses to questions and very friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Also, the pictures do not do justice to the comfort and coziness of this home. It is located close to the beach and to several restaurants where the food was awesome! A terrific value and a wonderful stay!

The house was originally purchased by our mother in 1993, I believe. When mom retired, she made South Bethany her spring through fall retirement home. She passed away in 2004 and left the home to my siblings and me so that we could keep the tradition of gathering the grandchildren together. We have been renting it to close friends and friends of friends and decided to give VRBO a whirl. We work hard to keep up the house maintenance ourselves. It is very well-equipped and homey. This house is very special to us and we hope VRBO renters find it as special a place as we do.

At the time mom bought the house, the Delaware shore was virtually 'unknown' and she liked the quiet nature it afforded. She wanted a place where all the grandkids could gather and play, and this beach is perfect for that. We love the proximity to the beach itself and that it is a private beach. The towns of South Bethany and Bethany Beach take such wonderful care of the dunes and the shore. The beach has fewer restrictions on what you are allowed to do, but still there is a definite dedication by the residents and renters to keeping it clean and safe. The canals near our home and the bay provide a wonderful place to take a walk and spot a variety of birds and wildlife. There’s a bike path that runs along the neighborhood—perfect for a walk, run, or bike ride either north to Dewey Beach or south to Ocean City.

We love taking walks along the beach. We often get to enjoy watching dolphins frolic in the water during those walks. Since the house is such a short distance to the beach, it makes it easy to come and go throughout the day – great when you have young children or just want a quick bite to eat. We enjoy the quiet and friendly aspect of the neighborhood. Depending on your mood and activity level, there are so many activities available in the Bethany Beach area, from reading a book on the beach to bike riding to parasailing and even surfing. At night when it is quiet, we can sometimes hear the ocean. Bethany Beach is such a lovely, beautiful place that it will make your time away from home so very special.
