Take a step into your favorite vacation home here at Timber Bark Lodge. This custom, beautifully decorated, cabin is perfect for your next Black Hills vacation. Located on a hilltop near the main highway and Recreational Springs, you'll love the proximity of the cabin to all the local recreation in the area. You can ride your ATV/Snowmobiles directly from the property 1 mile over to Rec. Springs where you can join up to all the local trails in the Northern Hills. You can also be skiing at Terry peak within a 10 minute drive, cruising through Spearfish Canyon or enjoying some local food at Cheyenne Crossing within 5 minutes, or gambling in Deadwood at the local casinos within 10 minutes. Mount Rushmore, Keystone, and Hill City can be reached with a 45 minute drive through the beautiful forest as well! You'll love having all these great attractions so close to your home-away-from-home!

This alluring cabin is a 3-level, 2,400 square foot home, with large deck in front offering great views, private deck in the back with a new hot tub. There are 2 separate living areas both with fireplaces with the main living area flooding with natural light from the large windows, 4 bedrooms, and 3 full baths. The master suite features a king-size bed, and private bath with a soaker tub. Other bedrooms include queen-size beds, full-size with bunk beds, and extra sleeping with pull-out queen and futon. Sit back and relax by either of two gas fireplaces or the flat screen TV’s with satellite! This home also features central air, gas grill, Nintendo system, and table-top air hockey. You also get access to the 1 car garage to store your motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles or vehicles and enjoy the parking area around the cabin for your other vehicles. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the 2nd year we have rented from Black Hills Adventure lodging. They do a fantastic Job from start to finish. They answer any questions you have and are honest. Now to the house the house was beautiful clean and plenty of space. Yes there was a couple things wrong but it did not affect our stay at all.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin itself was beautiful with great views and wonderful space for our family! We would love to rent it again next year if some interior improvements have been made. The leather love seat couch in the main living area was broken. The cloth couch in the main living room has the upholstery ripping off. The bar stools were falling apart in the kitchen and one was held together with black tape. Several light bulbs were out and rooms were dark. The hide a bed in the basement was broken. There were two grills on the deck, but only one works.

Pub Crawl Stay

The host was quick to respond and gave us clear check-in and check-out instructions. There are three separate levels and it is gorgeous. We stayed for pub crawl and it was easy for us to get taxi’s to and from. The place was clean and had plenty of space for our group. There was plenty of towels and extra blankets for us to use. I would definitely recommend this stay.

Beautiful mountain lodge

Our family had a wonderful time staying here. There was plenty of room for 6 adults, and we watched wildlife every morning and evening from the deck. When road construction caused a water problem, the owner/manager was quick to respond with suggestions.

Great view and location for SXS riding

Great location for SxS snowmobile or skiing. Roomy place great for several couples or a few families. Check in and communication was top notch. We would stay again.

Great place other than no air conditioning for 3 days. Great spot nice views out the windows and off the deck. The speed bumps on road were bad. Would stay there again in the future though.

Great place!

We had a great time. Nice and relaxing. Kids loved the hot tub. The view of the mountains was amazing! Lots of room and cozy.

Nice cabin

Nice cabin. No firepit outside. Working the tv was confusing since there were no instructions left. Thermostat was weird and hard to set.

Great Family Location

Great location and the house was great. If you have a large family and need a place close to Lead/Deadwood, I would highly recommend. Property didn't have toilet paper or garbage bags upon arrival, but the property owner was quick to stop by and replenish.

Winter Adventure

The experience in the Black Hills was amazing! The house was a great place to stay. We did an adventure every day and it was nice to come home each night to a house that felt like home each night, warm and welcoming. There was space for everyone to spread out and enjoy each other’s company. Highly recommended.

Amazing stay at the Timber Bark Lodge!

This was our first family trip in 5 years! It was incredible! The house fit 9 of us perfectly (with room to spare!) The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet and the overlook of the Lead Valley was stunning. Thank you for a wonderful few days in the Black Hills! We’ll be back!

Beautiful Property, perfect for ATVing

This property was very clean and stocked very well with all the essentials you would need. We were a group of 13 riding ATV and it was nice that we could hit the trails right from the property. There is also an SXS rental, campground, and small restaurant about 2-3 minutes from the property. Definitely would recommend. Communication was excellent with the property manager. Very prompt.

Close to Terry peak ski lodge which was a big hit with everyone. The cabin was clean and the rooms were nice and the large deck was great for grilling out and taking in the scenery. Overall very happy with the stay and will look into getting this cabin again in the future.

Great family vacation!!

The owner was great to work with and the cabin was family and I (6 adults and 3 kids) had more then enough room there, the cabin was spotless and very relaxing to come back to after a long day of sight seeing and hiking a big plus was the hot tub that we used every night. We had zero complaints about this place and would stay again!! Also if you want to ride horses there is a place about 2 miles from the cabin and its called Andy's trail rides they were great and such a fun beautiful ride.

ok stay, could use some maintenance

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the stay was ok, great location to deadwood. Property needs some general maintenance. There was an awful sewer gas smell throughout the cabin. After filling all the drains with water it seemed like it improved after filling the garage floor drains on the second day. The hot tub lid was torn in half and a major pain to get on and off. Ceiling fan did not work. Kind of funny people in the guest book noted fan did not work since 2020. Clean towels were left unfolded piled up on the basement couch on our arrival.

Great location. But a few problems....

Overall, the property is in a great location with plenty of space for sleeping and gathering. There were two things that would make me think twice about staying there again. First, the cleanliness. Light fixtures, dishes in the cabinets, BBQ grill etc were all dirty. Not just a little bit either. There were literally dead flies in the bathtub when we arrived. Second, the lighting. Very dim, very poor lighting. It was difficult to read at night and hang out anywhere but the kitchen. However, the hot tub was great. The price was right and with a good cleaning and updated lighting I'd stay again.

Beautiful location but the worst stay! Read on a head the warning!

We contacted Budi Kusser (Black Hills Adventure Lodging is the property mgmnt company) multiple times with our concerns, she told us we should go stay elsewhere and blew us off. Prime vacation season with a group of 9, finding last minute lodging was not an option; we were stuck. We took pics & documented everything so we would not get blamed. All this left over from previous occupants: Tin of chew, old food in both fridges, underwear & shorts, deodorant, empty chip bag under bed. The house was not at all cleaned & not cared for it was so gross; feces on toilet, broken indoor and outdoor furniture, arms stuck to the dining table, not vacuumed, sheets didn't fit beds, grills so dirty we wouldn't use, TV remotes didn't work, locks on bathroom doors didn't work, hot tub not maintained & ready for use. Before booking this location, read the YELP reviews! We wish we would have read the reviews because we would absolutely not have booked this property. Budi Kusser and the property mgmnt company have a laundry list of issues! There are so many pages of complaints in the guest notebooks left in the house as well.

Couldn't wait to leave

We had driven 2 days in 108 degree temps and road construction. Looking forward to a relaxing vacation. When we arrived at 4pm the house was 95 degrees, the hvac was set to heat. it was 97 upstairs in the bedroom. There would be no time to cool the house by bedtime. We tried to open windows but only a few had screens on them. The only fan at the house was small 4" fan. We went to turn on the tv in the master. It didn't work no box no remote. we tried our firestick the HDMI cable didn't work. The sheets and curtains and frankly the knee high bed all look like they came from goodwill. By the way, east facing windows so you're waking up with the sun. there were no shades. There is no place to lay out your clothes in the bedroom unless you want to hang everything. the shelves in the closet were full. Day one awful. Upon arrival we noticed cobwebs from the ceiling to the tv and dusty wall hangings. christmas trees with garland on them. The hot tub had black sediment in it and appeared very murky. (they did send someone to clean it but by then we were not going to use it) There was used cigars and a lighter inside the grill on the deck. the deck was peeling there was more bare wood than stain, The chairs are just mismatched plastic chairs, some are brittle and broken. The fridge had 3 door shelves of leftover condiments and sauces. YUCK! There was a transition from linoleum to carpet and it was frayed. I stepped on the tack strip a couple of times. That needs to be repaired. There was food in the dishwasher. Lettuce and scraps. I cleaned the lettuce out of the silverware tray an then tried to run it empty to get rid of the other scraped of food. That did nothing! I really don't think the jets work. I didn't use the diswasher at all. when I did my dishes by hand even the drain plugs were not the right size but they did hold water. And just one more thing the main level toilet was broken so you needed to go upstairs or downstairs to use a restroom. and the master bedroom toilet had a leaky seal so it ran most of the time. Well... you ask why didn't you contact the manager. We did multiple times a day. She did not have any empathy or solutions for us and was no assistance at all except to say that sometime properties are not a match and we could depart at any time. With a contract that says no refunds for early departures. We left early. I have pictures and emails from the manager that nothing was done to assist us .
