Relax with family & friends at this peaceful creekside mountain retreat.

The summit of The Priest can be viewed from the front porch. With a cup of coffee, that’s where we start every day when we’re here.

The yard is large (2.5 acres) and is a great private place for games or a barbecue. There is seating around a stone fire pit for evening gatherings and a couple more chairs by the creek for unparalleled serenity.

The house is spacious with 5 beds (1 king, 3 queens, 1 full) and 3 full bathrooms. The open kitchen, dining area, and great room are perfect for families to engage and enjoy time together.

This beautiful stretch of the Appalachians offers so much to do within a short, scenic drive of the house. Hiking trails, skiing at Wintergreen Resort, local farmers markets and unique shops. There are 5 breweries, 3 distilleries, 3 cideries and 10 wineries all within a 25 mile radius.

What an awesome house and wonderful stay. Anne is a marvelous host. Everything was just and described and the communication was excellent. The kitchen was the best appointed I've ever seen in a rental. We had everything we needed. Thanks!

Enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay. We wanted a quiet place for a family get-together to spend time with each other, play games, and just relax. We found that at Mima's Mountain House and we plan on returning.

Our stay at Mima’s Mountain House was truly fantastic. We traveled with friends and their two dogs to spend Thanksgiving together. The hosts were very communicative and made the check in easy. Everything we needed was there and the location is gorgeous. Just secluded enough to feel private without being too far from local attractions. Hiking, breweries, fishing…everything was right there just mere minutes away.

Perfect house! We enjoyed the fire pit and the spacious yard with privacy. This is the cleanest pet friendly house I’ve stayed in. Tons of room and all the amenities you can need. The beds were all comfortable. We will definitely book again!

Perfect Mountain Getaway!

Cannot recommend Anne and Dan’s place enough. The house is spacious, well maintained, and beautifully decorated. The location is a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle and we can’t wait to return.

Wonderful stay!

Honestly, the best hosts we have ever rented from. We had a group of 10 in our late 20's and had the best time staying here. The house was so well stocked, clean, and the owners were the most responsive and went out of their way to help us. We enjoyed the firepit, the breweries and wineries nearby, and the large gathering spaces!

Our stay in Massies Mill, VA was exactly what we were looking for: a peaceful mountain getaway with plenty of space for everyone. One of our favorite features was the nearby creek, where we spent time fishing and enjoying the peaceful mountain setting. In the evenings, we gathered around the fire pit, and it was such a nice touch that firewood was provided. Sitting around the fire under the stars made for some great family memories.The location is ideal for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. There are numerous hiking trails and scenic spots nearby, making it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings during the day.One thing future guests should know is that, as expected in a mountain setting, there were quite a few bugs around, especially bees near the front door. It really wasn't a big deal for us, but it's helpful to come prepared and be mindful when entering and exiting the house.Overall, this was a peaceful, comfortable mountain retreat with great amenities, beautiful scenery, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. We would definitely stay here again!

Large, private house and property is perfect!

Great house for a stay in Nelson County. Plenty of space for a couple of families or larger group. Nice, flat and spacious yard with a fire pit and creek running by. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Great stay!

I had an amazing stay at this home! The house itself was cozy, well-equipped, and exactly as described in the listing. Communication with the host was top-notch, super friendly, and responsive throughout. The host had several family games and everything went smoothly. Definitely recommend!

Excellent rental

Beautiful house with large bedrooms. Hosts really put a lot of thought into all the details that ensure that guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Very nice kitchen with great coffee options. We loved the fire pit area. Wish we had more time to enjoy the lovely property.

Beautiful home in Virginia

This home was one of my favorite Vrbo’s I have stayed in. Plenty of room for 10 people with fantastic streams around the property. The house was very clean on arrival and communication with the owners was always prompt and easy. Next time we plan a trip to Wintergreen we will definitely be staying here again!

Property had all the amenities and more! Big open spaces, SUPER comfy beds and linens. They went the extra mile with bowls and goodies for the puppies. Teas, coffee and honey sticks for guests. Games and cards to play. Beautiful firepit setup with picnic table and a set of chairs over by the running stream was wonderful. We enjoyed the lush green grass for the pups to run and the quite corner the property sits on. Plenty of seating and table space for many guests, we had 9! Kitchen is spacious and feels easy to move in with lots of people navigating it at once. We had a great time, thank you so much for opeming your home to us and sharing its beauty.

Felt like home!

The house was amazing. We felt like we were at home. Everything that you would need and more. The views, the outside area and the location were perfect for a long Fourth of July weekend getaway. The host was easily accessible if anything was needed.

Amazing weekend trip

Amazing home and rental experience. Beautiful large bedrooms and fully stocked kitchen. Really nice touches throughout! And really awesome follow up after we left. My son left his prized security blanket and the owner was so nice to send it to us when it was found. Highly recommend this rental for a beautiful mountain trip.

Best Birthday

This place was amazing. Went up here for my 45th and it was so amazing. Plenty of rooms for family and friends to stay. Outside was so nice too. We plan to use this home again. Don’t spend time looking at other listings, it is that good of an option. Book it.

Fantastic getaway from life

So good! Just what we needed as a family to disconnect for a few days. The best was the little stream on property in the morning looking at the blue ridge mountains drinking chai. Close to hikes and peace. You’ll love it. Incredibly kind and friendly owners!!!

A little slice of heaven!

Couldn't have asked for a better stay - everything was perfect! House was very clean and well kept, stocked with everything we needed for our stay. They even thought about our pups, which made me so happy (water bowls, poop bags, treats, and even dog towels!). Our dogs LOVED the creek; the water was so refreshing. Hosts were very communicative and had all of the house/local info in a binder, which was very helpful. Not too far from hiking trails, restaurants, and the brewery/winery trail. Honestly can't say enough good things about this place, we all wished we could stay longer! Highly recommend and hope we can stay again someday!

Beautiful home and location

Loved this home. We will be back. 15 minutes to Devils backbone and Bold Rock. Lots to do at the home. No neighbors to worry about. Dogs allowed! What? Next trip we will bring them for sure. Huge living space with huge dining table. Better than the pics.

When we started down this path, we wanted to create a space for family & friends to spend time together, enjoy moments, and make great memories.

The woman who inspired the dedication for this gorgeous retreat was Barbara, Dan’s mom…known to her 18 grandchildren as “Mima”. She had a green thumb and could always bring about life wherever she was. From her incredible garden in New York, to her pineapple pots in Florida, to her tulips and roses in Virginia…Mima inspired hope and love in everything she touched.

Mima was the matriarch for a family that loved gathering as often as possible to share stories, spend time together, and enjoy the company of loved ones. This mountain retreat is dedicated to her as the perfect place to experience the joy of these simple things.
