The Acadia National Park entrance to Cadillac Mountain is just around the corner. Guests can reach Eagle Lake, Duck Brook, and Witch Hole Carriage Road within minutes. Eagle Lake Road truly lives up to the name, just look up to spot bald eagles or peregrine falcons soaring overhead or nesting nearby. The back field is a natural crossing for deer, turkeys, and other wildlife that wander through. Just across the street is Kebo Valley Golf Course, the 8th‑oldest golf course in the United States. Driveway parking for 2–3 vehicles will help you avoid searching for downtown spots and paying meter fees. Secure storage is available for bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, golf equipment, and more. Inside, a well‑organized brochure wall offers maps, local information, and up‑to‑date island activities to help you plan each day with ease. Avoiding congested Acadia Visitor Centers will save time and frustration! My family has lived on the island for six generations, and we love sharing the history, stories, and hidden secrets of Acadia. Close enough to enjoy everything yet tucked away in a peaceful family neighborhood. Bar Harbor House comfortably hosts up to eight guests and a special place to gather, relax, and make lasting memories. Our home is more than a place to stay, it is an opportunity to experience the true Bar Harbor way of life.

Deb and her family were the most accommodating, and thoughtful hosts who opened their home and treated us like family. When we go back to Bar Harbor, we will definitely rent here again. The house was so clean, in a great location and had everything that we could possibly need and more. This was an A.house and host.

Laurie and her family will always be welcomed. Our home was treated as if it was their own. The house was left so clean and wondered where they may have stayed. I felt like they should have been paid the cleaning fees! It was amazing to be engaged with such kind and loving people. They respected our home and expressed their love for Acadia. Any homeowner would be so fortunate to share their home with this family. They came as guests and left as friends. We will not forget them and have open welcoming arms if they return. One of the best rental experiences that we've ever had. Deb was super responsive and thoughtful in all of her communication. She was in touch and available with any questions that we had. Easily the most well stocked rental we've ever been in. Recommend without reservation and we will be staying here again in the future. There were 5 of us and easily could've fit several more.

Andrew and his family were our first guests of the season and what a great way to start. The family was so engaged and easy to see they loved being on the island. They were so respectful of our house and will always be welcomed back not as guests but as new friends! It is very special to witness young families being together making new memories. Best of all and might sound silly but... the kids left a big thank you note in the guest book! Any hosting family would be thankful to have a family like the "G's!"

From the very beginning, communication with the host, Deb, was fantastic. We knew exactly what to expect before arrival, and the house lived up to expectations. The house was very clean, very well stocked with supplies, and there were plenty of tips for activities. The location was perfect. Just a few minutes to downtown Bar Harbor and a few minutes from Acadia National Park. Deb made sure that our stay was perfect, and we appreciated the small touches that helped with our stay. We were traveling with a 3-year-old, and there was a gate for the stairs, and even had a cute heart night light that our daughter loved. The house had plenty of room for our family, which was nice since the weather was less than ideal. If we have the opportunity to make it back to Maine, we would definitely stay here again.

Our appreciation for the "S" family cannot be adequately described in a review. They were best of the best and what every host hopes for! Our home was left spotless and they should have been the ones paid for cleaning! Their time was short and at times rain prevailed. They proceeded without complaints and I hope we can pay forward if they return. What a great family to start the 2026 season! My most special moment was finding a colored picture gifted to me by their young daughter. The child's gesture touched my heart and reminded me on how awesome it is to share our home. The family came as guests and will not be forgotten. They will always be welcomed and we are thankful...

What a wonderful stay! First of all, the house was exceptionally clean. It was well stocked to help you get started. Everything you would need in the kitchen! The rooms were spacious. The beds were very comfortable! The house is cooled by window ac units. We were there during 90 temps. The house was cool and very comfortable. I even got cold a few times! Best window units I’ve ever seen! The back yard was fun to watch the turkeys and deer. The flowers were very pretty. There was a grill, but we did not get a chance to use it. Secondly, Deb is amazing!! She was so nice and did everything she could to make sure we had everything we needed. She went above and beyond!! Her guidance on seeing the July 4th fireworks made it one of the best experiences. I have never had a host do so much to make sure we had a wonderful stay. I did not get a chance to meet Deb, but perhaps I will when we return on day. She made me feel like a friend! Thirdly, the location of the house was perfect!! Within walking distance to downtown. 5 mins you can be inside the park. 15 mins you’re at Cadillac Mountain. It was very easy to find. She has the driveway marked with cones, they were a big help!! Do not hesitate to book this house. You will love it!!

Emily and her family touched our hearts in so many ways. Some say having a "rental" is work however with families like this it brings us joy. It is a special feeling to connect with "guests" that feel like they are your family. The way they engaged made the 4th of July holiday even more fun. As hosts, we were able to share pieces of local culture and they shared their love for our home. Our home was respected, left amazingly clean, and cared. My husband mentioned we should have paid them for cleaning. Any host would be blessed to share their home with such wonderful people. If they return, they will not be considered "guests" they will always be remembered as best of the best. Thankful for people like this who are changing the world.

We had a great stay! The location is very convenient to town and Acadia, instructions were clear, communication with the owner was easy. This is a lovely, comfortable, very clean home in a great location—just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Deb thought of everything to make the home feel welcoming. It was so helpful to have the refrigerator stocked with the basics, a frozen lasagna, and snacks and coffee for our stay. Deb was caring and kind, and she and Dan were available to help if needed.

A great stay in Bar Harbor

Deb was incredibly welcoming and the house is stocked with anything that you can possibly need. It was spacious for our group of 3 families. The location can't be beat -- close enough to walk or bike into town and near the entrance to the carriage trails. We come to Bar Harbor every year and I plan to be back to Deb's house!

Acadia vacation

Saw property online. Very convenient to park & Bar Harbor. Deb easy to work with & contact if needed. Provided us with breakfast when found out we had travel delays. Would stay there again.

Amazing!

We loved our time spent at Deb and Dan's Bar Harbor home. They were amazing, gracious hosts and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. It truly felt like a home away from home and the location was perfect, so close to Bar Harbor and all that Acadia has to offer. I can't wait to book our next stay with them! Thank you so much Deb and Dan! :)

The Bell family will always be welcome. They are the best kind of guests you could hope for. The BHH was spotless, cared for, and respected. We probably should have paid them for cleaning assistance! Interacting and sharing local information was fun and hopefully helpful. They were so appreciative and can't wait for them to return. Deirdre and family brought us joy beyond words. Not only with the way they cared for the property but because of who they are. Our faith in humanity and "good people" was renewed. No words come to mind greater than this, thankful for such wonderful people. Their appreciation of "little things" was overwhelming. As a property owner, I would recommend them as best of the best! They came as guests and left as friends who won't be forgotten!

A week in Bar Harbor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the home. There was plenty of room for my family of five, was in a great location, and was very clean. The host was very easy to communicate with and made our stay enjoyable. The fridge was stocked with some food for arrival, and many other items are provided as well. We hope to return and would definitely stay in this home again.

Great House, Great Host

This house was great for our vacation. It's close enough to downtown to do things there, but far enough away not to be affected by the crowds of tourists. Deb was always asking if we needed anything. The house has books of information about the island from a local's point of view. We loved our stay.

My family is native to Bar Harbor and is well known to local communities and surrounding islands. I am “on deck” for tips before you come, while here, and even after you leave! Guest access to owner can be incredibly valuable when deciding what to do, where to go, and make the most of your time. My friend Dan is a professional musician who performs at many popular local venues, both solo and with the Dan Lorey Band. I love being a host because it lets me share a place I care about with people who are excited to experience it. There is something genuinely rewarding about helping guests create new and lasting memories - family reunions, anniversaries, and first trips to Acadia! Welcoming people, offering local tips, and hearing what they enjoy most brings me joy. Hosting is not just about providing a house. It is about creating a peaceful, comfortable, thoughtful space where loved ones can enjoy being together. Welcoming guests helps keep me connected to my community and local happenings. I get to support local businesses, highlight the best of Bar Harbor, and share the pride I feel for Acadia. Every guest who leaves happy reminds me why I do it. Dan retired from Mount Desert Island Hospital as a Clinical Social Worker and supervisor. I am a proud Nurse of 50 years and caring for others comes naturally. Much of my career was spent at The Jackson Laboratory before I later developed a small consulting business, Smart Case Management Solutions, LLC. My clinical background includes Occupational Health Case Management related to Workers’ Compensation and disability.

The Bar Harbor House is part of a historic, close-knit neighborhood filled with families who have lived here for generations. This is the place that shaped me — where I ran around as a kid, where my grandparents built their lives, and where many of my relatives still live just down the road. My hope is that the next generations of my family will also be able to stay on the island and continue our story here.

Bar Harbor House is ideally located, just a 10‑minute walk to the village and only a half‑mile drive to the Cadillac Mountain entrance of Acadia National Park. You can walk into town without worrying about parking or being in Acadia within minutes. As a native island family, this is our home and we genuinely enjoy helping guests experience it the way locals know and love it. I am available from the time you book through your entire stay. Having a real person available that genuinely cares about your stay can make a world of difference. My brother's shop, Little Village Gifts is listed in Trip Advisors Top 10 Best Things to do in Bar Harbor! The house is fully stocked with essentials, including start‑up groceries, breakfast items, and a frozen meal to enjoy. Guests are all set, if they arrive late or prefer not to stop for groceries on the way. There is a fully stocked brochure wall with maps, local information, and island activities to help with plans and make reservations. Avoiding the crowds at Acadia Visitor Center is always a plus. What makes our home truly special is this... people arrive as guests and leave as new friends.
