Cake by the Ocean lodge is centrally located in the golf-cart friendly downtown area of Port Aransas one block from the beach. This bright and beachy two story house offers a lodge like feel with 20ft open beam ceilings full of light and open space for entertaining. The upstairs Great Room has space for everyone to do their own thing and mingle at the same time. Whether sitting on the attached front porch watching the Palm trees sway or inside at the bar sipping drinks; watching a game on the large TV and having appetizers this room has it all. This room comfortably accommodates multiple families and groups. Enjoy the master king bedroom with a private bathroom or the bunk room with a twin over full size bunk bed and private full size bathroom. With plenty of seating for all; the kitchen; dining; and living areas is an open floor plan; which is great for entertaining with family and friends together. For many the kitchen is a real bonus. There is no need to bring your own utensils; or bake ware; as most of your standard cooking supplies are provided. The downstairs area has a bunk room with a full over full and a twin over twin bed and trundle and is perfect for all the kids and young adults to sleep; gather; and play games. An attached sitting room provides a good spot for book reading or some solo time. Downstairs a cozy master bedroom with a queen bed and 43 inch TV awaits. The full size bathroom is shared by the downstairs master and bunk room. An additional half bath is located downstairs as well. The backyard has a large tree and shade structure; that will reduce harsh afternoon sun and add additional outdoor living space. This area is perfect for BBQing and gathering under the covered Pavillion. Play a game of Ring Toss or Washers; relax in the Adirondack chairs; and watch the kids play in the clubhouse. The backyard is a great place to watch the sunset and charge up for the next day. Cake by the Ocean has a fully fenced in back yard for your pets. Pets are allowed for an additional $50 per night fee. In addition; there are two outdoor dog crates that are partially protected from the elements. Located on popular 11th St. and close to everything; makes this home Golf Cart accessible; and walking distance to beach. Enjoy the outdoor shower after a day at the beach and when it?s time to head to the beach or local restaurants and stores the location is ideal. If you have a special flag or windsock you want to fly just raise the collapsible Flag pole in the front yard and let your group know where you are. If you are looking to come to the beach and enjoy all Port A has to offer; and have a relaxing lodge to come home to; this is the spot for you. Parking for 4 vehicles in the driveway; or your 30 foot boat trailer on one side; and 2 cars on the other side. Great Stay!

The house is beautiful! Perfect size for myself and family 9 and our dogs. Literally a couple blocks from the beach. Few blocks down from stores and shops and restaurants.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house worked well for ten men on a fishing trip. We each had our own beds and enjoyed having several bathrooms. The AC isn't powerful enough to cool the house during the day, it will get up to 80 degrees during the afternoon. There is limited parking, enough for two trucks. It says there is boat parking but definitely not on the property. We parked ours on the empty lot next door. Do you best to carpool.

Loved the property

The property was larger that I thought it would be, the location was amazing and everything was very clean. The golf cart that was at the house sounded like it was going to fall apart but one call to the cart place and the switched us out with another one. The only thing they could improve would be all the dead landscaping. The gardener in me wanted to get out there and work on it;) We had a great stay and would use this property again.

Non-cake by the ocean rental

I am used to checking in at 1500 and having to wait until 1600 delays our unloading our bags and causing delays in the family arriving. Communication between us and the office was a constant question.’once 160” came we were able to take it from there. Backyard is dangerous for all of us.

Reviewer Comments: After battling leukemia with our sixteen year old daughter for the last 10 months, we were looking forward to a much needed family vacation. We've been going to Port A for years and usually opt for a condo. We decided to splurge on Cake by the Ocean. We arrived to multiple dead cockroaches on the stairs and entry way.There was no toilet paper or trash bags upon arrival. There were no sheets on 4 of the beds and the comforters were thrown on the floor. The kitchen floor was dirty and sticky. The bathrooms were filthy and every shower was lined with mold. There was hair on master sheets. All the fans were caked in dust which we cleaned off the first night we were there. There were no towels in any of the restrooms. We had a breaker go out with no response until next day...we had already fixed the problem by that time ourselves. We called about the house being dirty- the response from the after hours gentleman: is it not clean or just not clean to your standards? (Who says this??). We also called about towels and were told they would send over housekeeper, no one ever showed up. Needless to say, it was a nightmare and we took multiple pictures to document...wish we could post here. The house is large and could be a great place to stay if it was kept up by the rental agency.

Beach getaway!

"Cake by the Ocean" is a wonderful house to stay in...lots of room for everyone, nice backyard and super great location. Overall loved the property. A few things we didn't think was right...especially due to the "covid times": Coffee pot was dirty, dishwasher had dirty dishes in it, no hand soap in kitchen, an opened bar of soap in shower, sink in downstairs bathroom didn't work, only 3 trash can liners for kitchen, the grill and tools where dirty. I tried to call the office several time and I even left a message but no one returned my phone call. We made the best of it...enjoying family time and the beach!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have mixed feelings regarding the rental. The home is large and at a good location but it needed maintenance. We were missing pillowcases on all the pillows but a simple call and housekeeping brought many. The master shower had a bad leak, the 1st floor shower had a broken handle and one sink had no water. Many of the bed frames needed to be reinforced as the supports were broken. It was also time for many of the mattresses to be replaced as they were very broken in. We reported all the water issues and one of the bed frames. The management company had someone there to work on these items the day we left - which is what we requested since none of the issues was an emergency. The first golf cart we had was not in good shape - backfiring and not accelerating on the road. By day 2 it would not shift into reverse but again another phone call and the management company brought out a new cart that worked great. The home is great for large groups as there is plenty of room. It just needed some good maintenance. Maybe a day or 2 out of service periodically to check that everything is in good working condition.

The kids had a great time. We like the layout of the house and perfect for a large group or family. On a moderately busy street so there were good carts of folks going by with music late into the evening but hey it’s vacation time so not that big of a deal.

Great Birthday Getaway

We celebrated my daughters 17/14 birthdays here with some of their friends. Plenty of room downstairs for the girls leaving the upstairs to me and my wife. Great location and well maintained home. We would stay here again

Great House Close to the Beach

This was our second year coming to Port Aransas over the fourth of July holiday. This house was in great condition and close to the beach. It was hard to distinguish where the rooms were in advance, based on the description, so we weren't really sure what to expect. Be advised that there are two bedrooms on the lower level that are connected by a bathroom. You have to actually pass through the one bedroom and bathroom in order to get to the bedroom. There was also a second "bathroom" downstairs that was basically a toilet and a sink in the closet with the water heater. Kinda strange. Upstairs, the kitchen was very nice. I wish they had some condiments, spices, etc , but we went to the grocery store and bought what we needed there. The upstairs bedrooms were both very nice and had their own bathrooms attached. The living area was great and we even re-arranged some of the furniture for a movie night one night. The house was close to everything and we were able to take the golf cart to the beach, to get ice cream, and to watch the fireworks. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Nice Place but some BIG things did not work... AC and Dishwasher

Reviewer Comments: the dishwasher did not work the whole week and the air went out one night.. i was offered at 1 AM Ssome window untils but declined bc I did not want ti wait until 3 for the guy to bring thm and put them on on my vacaction. I have asked to speak to someone SEVERAL times regarding some kind of refund.. and no response.

Hello Andi, We do apologize that the dishwasher stopped working during your stay. There was a part for the dishwasher that is needed. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of the appliance company to send the part. We will always try to accommodate our guest with their issues. We did offer to take a portable AC to the house until the AC company could get to the issue. We did notify the AC Company and they did come out and service the AC. We are very happy that the house was clean and in a great location for your vacation. Again we do apologize for any inconveniences. SSVR Management

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The experience was very good. The only problem we had was the air conditioning in the main living area wasn’t adequate to cool the space. It got up to 85 degrees the first day of the rental. The staff was very professional and immediately sent someone out who called an air conditioning contractor. They checked the unit and it was working fine but every afternoon the temperature got up to about 80 degrees. All other areas of the house cooled properly.
