Exceptional, airy, expansive, home is set on a private, quiet wooded lot, just a few steps to the shared association Lake Michigan beach. Three spacious levels bring together the best of leisure and recreation with indoor games and outdoor activities. Open floor plan perfect for large family gatherings, but also allow for individual privacy with many rooms, including 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.

Soak in the 6 person outdoor hot tub, with nearby outdoor shower. Enjoy the sun and Lake Michigan views on on the second floor deck and observatory room, with wet bar. Enjoy campfires in a private, secluded area on property, as well as at the private beach. Miles of endless walking, running, hiking, biking, swimming and wildlife adjacent to property.

Enjoy the downtowns of both Saugatuck and Douglas, where you will find countless shops, art galleries, restaurants, culture, and nightlife, all just a short bike or drive away. Many Golf courses and numerous u-pick fruit farms in area, including (seasonal): strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, peaches, and apples.

Staying here was a dream for all of us. We loved it. It met all of our needs. It is a just short walk from the beach. The kitchen is stocked well and easy to work in. The neighborhood is inspiring. Everyone had a great time and left beaming. I am very grateful for that.The bedrooms were all quite enchanting- and gave a luxury feel, which is always lovely. Most of the guests longed for more confirtable beds, but it did not affect the morale of the experience. Also, important to note there is a wedding venue across the street. Music runs somewhat late into the night- but we enjoyed it from the beach as we watched the night sky. I am in a bit of communication limbo with the hosts. They are very thorough. I recommend reading every word of their instructions, after touring the house to make absolute sure you understand all of their requests. I misread something and it led to a deeper miscommunication. Hoping it resolves peacefully. We would love to be able to return next year!

This home is lovely. Plenty of room for all of us. The lower level offered activities...pool, ping-pong, air hockey, foosball. The hot tub was conveniently located. Plenty of gathering space. Very clean. Nice location. Friendly, helpful host

This was our second time staying at this house and we all feel very at home there! We love the quiet setting in the woods. The host is super responsive. The hot tub and outdoor shower are a big bonus. The short walk to the lakeshore, and the beach down the steps for the younger generations are appreciated. We plan to stay again next year, and given that this was our 23rd summer staying in Saugatuck, that says a lot, because we know a lot! Nick keeps the house very well stocked with things like toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, detergents, hand soaps, etc. Our family has grown exponentially in that time, and this house fits what is now a large three generation family! FYI, Meijer in Holland delivers here, we always put in an initial big order for when we first get there for all the heavy beverages, water, breakfast, lunch and snack stuff to get us started. Also, there is a small dorm size fridge in the basement (in the storage room this year) to put extra beverages for the basement family room, or to hide away a surprise birthday cake!

Wow! What a neighborhood. We loved Douglas, and the beach access here is just amazing. We swam in Lake MI every day. The beach was perfect for our kids (ages 7-13). There was a nice sandbar that was about 100ft from shore that our kids loved to swim to.

Close to everything, great walking and biking and beach. Our family of 13 ranging in age from 6-76 had a great time here.

Saugatuck 2025

We held a weeklong family reunion. The house is terrific. There are several large rooms for gathering people along with porches and a back deck. The lake is just a short walk away.

Lakeside peace

Our large extended family had a wonderful reunion at this amazing house. We loved how close it was to the beach and spent so much time there, playing frisbee in the water, chilling out, and enjoying sunset. The game room was a great place for our multi generation family to play together. We put the outdoor space to good use with the deck, hot tub, firepit, and corn hole. There were some drain issues with the showers but it was amazing to have so many bathrooms and space for everyone. We really enjoyed the large space to eat and hang out inside, too.

Extended Family Fun

Our family included three generations of guests. We spent a week here, and we loved everything about it. The home is spacious and welcoming. There are lots of places to spread out, and lots of spaces for family together times. Having the beach so close was amazing. It is a beautiful little spot of tranquility and beauty. We already reserved a week for next year. Nick is a fantastic host- so prompt in communication!

Wish we could have stayed longer

We do an annual mother/daughter Mother’s Day trip at different locations. There were nine of us this year. We absolutely loved this house! It was so spacious and very clean! We would definitely recommend!! Beautiful grounds and close to the lake with gorgeous sunsets!!

Great place near Lake Michigan

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving break with family at this nice house near Lake Michigan. We loved using the fireplace in the living room while playing board games and watching football all weekend.

Family Gathering

We stayed at Nick and Donna’s for an extended weekend with all of our siblings and spouses, 12 people in all. The house had plenty of space for a large group. It was very inviting and comfortable as well as spotless. We had every single thing we needed and so much more!! We loved the great room for meals and gathering. We could all comfortably be in the same space. The basement was awesome for playing games which we enjoy, again so comfortable and spacious. It also offered plenty of privacy with all the different bedrooms and bathrooms. Location was fantastic! We went for morning walks along Lake Michigan and found lots to do in Muskegon, Holland, Saugatuck, and Douglas, all just a short drive away. Nick made sure we had an easy check in/check out and had everything we needed in between. We would highly recommend this property!!

Loved our stay!

We had three generations, a total of 13 family members, and there was ample room for everyone! So many spaces to gather together or find a quiet spot! The back deck, hot tub and outdoor shower were favorite spots, as was the basement family room for playing pool, watching movies and playing card games with the kids. The front porch was the best napping spot with the Lake Michigan waves as a lulling backdrop. The upstairs family room was the morning spot for early risers to have coffee and watch morning news, and evening tv for those not in the basement. The living room did get used also, but wasn’t as comfortable as some of the other options, for me at least. The kitchen is well stocked, and we found more pantry space than I expected, though counter space was skimpy, but we managed. The house was well stocked in general, and communication with the owner, Nick, was fantastic! We hated to leave, but are happy knowing we will be returning to this house next year! Love the location just a block off the lake with handy sunsets!

Fabulous family vacation house

Our family of 9, our children and grandchildren came together from various points of the country. The location was perfect to either drive or fly into. We loved all the activities that were so close to the house, from Dune Buggy rides to brewery visits there was something for everyone. We especially loved the three levels at the house. It was fun for the 9 of us to gather on the large sectional to watch Jeopardy! Our hosts were fantastic, promptly responding to all questions within minutes. And the house was not only beautifully appointed, but it was spotless.it was in a perfect location to watch sunsets and go for walks along the road overlooking the Lake Michigan shore. I would highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful convienant location

Everything about the house was great! It was pretty and clean and in a beautiful location that was fairly close to town. The owners were thorough and communicated well so it was easy check in and check out. Stayed there with friends for a wedding weekend and we enjoyed being able to use the hot tub and the game room in the basement. It was too rainy for the firepit but maybe next time!

Wonderful Stay

Family Fun Days

Wonderful house in a great location. Good stretch of sand on the neighborhood private beach gave us the lake to ourselves most of the days. The house fit our needs as per listed. The kids had a place to play at night before bedtime as well as a nice sitting area for the adults for when the kids were sleeping. The host, Nick, was very responsive prior to our visit answering our questions and checked in on us after check-in to ensure everything was just right. Highly recommend the house.

We bought our Saugatuck property- 'Shorewood'- because of it's tranquil and wooded locale near Lake Michigan. We built and designed our 'Shorewood' house in such a way that would comfortably accommodate large family gatherings. 'Shorewood' which sits near the beach and towns of Saugatuck and Douglas, represents to us the best that the area has to offer.

We bought this beautiful Saugatuck property because of it's perfect combination of tranquility when trying to get away from the stresses of everyday life, while still being able to be active in both athletics and cultural activities. Saugatuck has a very urbane charm to it, without the noise and the crowds of a major metro area. Our property is located in the most tranquil spot, near the sugar sand Lake Michigan shoreline. We built a house that we felt that not only our family could enjoy year round, but also, would be an ideal space for extended family or other large families or groups who could gather comfortably. Our house is in a private enclave, that has the Lake in the front end, and the peaceful woods in the back. Saugatuck constantly surprises us with it's diversity; ranging from the magnificent sunsets over Lake Michigan (right out our front door!), to the sugar sand beaches; to the Art Barn where our children, on a rainy day, can get make their own artwork...and it does not end there!

The beach! The sugar sand that squeaks when you walk on it. The dunes at the beach. The amazingly clean and beautiful, warm, Lake Michigan water during the summer. The sunsets! The summer! The Fall, when the leaves change and you can go apple picking! The endless running on beach/roads and/or the endless biking on roads...right out the front door. The safety and quiet of living on a private road in a private enclave with no traffic or noise. The short bike or drive to downtown Saugatuck or Douglas for food, culture, shopping, antiquing, or just strolling. The locale of house with fire pit, hot tub (and outdoor shower), and wildlife surrounding property. The airy and open layout, that our 4000 square foot home offers families and groups on trips.
