Oceanfront penthouse 40 feet from ocean - 2 bedroom, 1 bath - Amazing View!

From this comfortable and recently updated 4th floor condo, F407, you will enjoy spectacular ocean views, turtles, whales (in season), islands, and sunsets. You will feel like you are sitting right on the water! It has two bedrooms (one of them is an open loft bedroom) and sleeps 6 (4 beds). The primary bedroom has a queen bed and the loft has one queen and two twin beds. Perfect for couples or a family (not recommended for children under 7 due to steep loft stairs). The building has an elevator.

You will enjoy wonderful renovations completed in June 2024, including a full kitchen and partial bath renovation (bamboo cabinets and quartz countertops!) and other updates. A tri-zone AC system was installed in May 2023. The condo is now even more amazing!

Enjoy the sound of ocean waves! You will love your morning coffee and eating meals on the lanai (balcony) while enjoying the stunning view of Molokai and Lanai. Inside, the vaulted ceiling gives the condo a spacious feel. High-end sliding glass doors open fully to give the condo a true indoor-outdoor ambiance!

This property changed hands in December 2022. The reviews from the previous owner (all reviews prior to December 2022) were transferred to this listing to give as much information as possible to future guests. Please do not hesitate to reach out for any information.

Our condo is much better equipped than the typical rental and set up like a friend's beach home, including beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, boogie boards, and pool noodles. The kitchen is very well-stocked with everything you may need, including Mai Tai glasses, Instant Pot, Nespresso machine (uses "Original Line" capsules), and a good quality drip coffee machine.

Papakea Resort is located on 13 acres in North Kaanapali/Honokawai and exudes Hawaiian charm, with lush gardens and koi ponds, as well as two swimming pools, two jacuzzi hot tubs, tennis and pickle ball courts, putting greens, shuffleboard, and gas BBQ grills for guest use. Free wifi internet access is available throughout the resort.

Papakea Resort is fee-free as of July 1, 2025! Enjoy all the amenities of the resort at no extra cost: weekly Mai Tai party, weekly lei-making class, exercise classes, tennis rackets/balls, pickle ball rackets/balls, and miniature golf putters/balls).

The location is outstanding! You are within steps of the Kaanapali boardwalk/trail, with breathtaking views. Restaurants, food trucks, a grocery store, a fish market, shops, and more are within walking distance.

The sand in front of Papakea comes and goes depending on the weather and tides. There is a sea wall, and steps leading down. Weather and waves permitting, people swim and snorkel in front of Papakea. Lounge chairs on the grass behind the sea wall provide a delightful area to relax, read, or soak in the ocean view. Sandy North Kaanapali beach is steps away. There is fantastic snorkeling at popular nearby Kahekili (Airport) Beach.

The historic town of Lahaina was destroyed by a heartbreaking fire in August 2023. West Maui is open and welcoming respectful, compassionate, and generous visitors - please bring your "aloha" with you. Lahaina town (and the surrounding "burn zone") remains closed.

State taxes will be applied: Hawaii General Excise Tax (4.712%); Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax (10.25% in 2025 and 11% as of Jan. 1, 2026); and Maui Transient Accommodation Tax (3%). (These are included in the VRBO total price.)

Please note:
1. Papakea resort is undertaking a 2-year phased "Internal Renovation" project to update all plumbing, working on one building at a time. The work (8am-5pm M-F) should not be audible in the condo but will be audible and visible on some parts of the property. From August-October 2025, the work will be on a nearby building, and the condo is priced to take this into account. From November 2025 onwards, the work will be on buildings far from the condo. More details are available if you have any concerns.

2. Parking for one vehicle is free. An additional vehicle is $5/day.

Our time in Maui was amazing thanks to Kathryn and her beautiful condo. The condo itself was updated and just a really cool layout, our family loved it. The property grounds were beautiful and obviously can’t beat the view. We stayed at a similarly priced condo in Oahu and this was far better and a clear favorite for the family. Kathryn herself was extremely friendly and professional and made sure I had everything I needed leading up to the trip and even stayed up until we checked in. The guidebook her and her husband made was a great resource and very thorough. Check-in was as easy as it gets. The listing had mentioned construction on the property however we only heard it once when we were on the lanai one late morning, no big deal at all. Overall this place can’t be beat. We will absolutely be back!

We had such a wonderful time in this condo, I can’t recommend it enough. Beautifully updated, and the most perfect view. We saw tons of whales! Communication with Kathryn was outstanding. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful views!

The condo was very functional and we could easily accommodate our 2 teens and my mother. All the required amenities were there and the views of the ocean and sunset can't be beaten! This was right on the beach and the resort was nice. AC was super helpful as was the fully equipped kitchen

Ka’anapali Beach - Family Stay in January

Awesome. Everything was awesome. Awesome views of ocean. We saw whales on numerous occasions. Saw sea turtles on numerous occasions. Grills and cooking facilities were great. Beds were extremely comfortable and tv watching was great for watching football after we got our sun for the day. Great location near kanapali beqch. Perfect for our family of four with 2 adult children. Highly recommend. 5 stars

Breathtaking views

Oceanfront views to die for. I don’t think you can rent anywhere that is closer to the water than this. We watched whales every day and lots of rainbows. Sunsets were spectacular. We had a little issue with the ceiling fan (as there is no a/c) and the owner was very responsive and helpful. We hope to stay again next year!

Amazing Property, Very Clean, Ocean Front

Amazing ocean front property with amazing views! Coffee on the lanai in the morning was so relaxing as we watched and listened to the waves. The sunsets were like a postcard photo! The inside was a tiny bit dated (primarily the kitchen) but the property owner is working on it and it’s not bad at all! The property was extremely clean! You had everything you could need in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable. There’s AC! The resort was awesome! The property owner (Kathryn) was such a joy to work with!!! She provided us with so much information and a fantastic stay! You WILL NOT regret your stay here!

This place was everything we needed and wanted. The resort is in a great location with an easy walk to bars, restaurants, grocery and other shops. The property is so well kept; clean, manicured, great check-in. The pool and hot tubs were not crowded. There were a few classes we would have enjoyed, but ran out of time. The condo itself was spacious for four adults. The lanai overlooks the ocean, and we spent much time whale watching. We also saw turtles and a seal. I sleep hot and the air conditioner worked well when we turned it on at night. The kitchen is well stocked; we even bbq'd at the common grill. This place checked all the boxes- plus!

Fantastic Maui Vacation

The view from this property is simply amazing. Seeing nothing but the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and the Islands of Molokai and Lanai from nearly everywhere in the Condo is awesome! The Condo was recently renovated and is very nice with very comfortable beds. The listing and description of the Condo is very accurate. The property itself is extremely well maintained and beautiful. The location is within walking distance of several fantastic places to eat or shop. The two pools and two hot tubs are very nice and well maintained. There is easy access to the ocean, and we did some snorkeling right in front of the property. We saw turtles cruising back and forth in front of the property several times, sometimes stopping to munch for awhile. The putt putt course and shuffleboard were fun for my family. Having a washer and dryer in the unit is very nice if you are staying more than just a few days.

Idyllic Oceanfront Escape

When it says "oceanfront" in the accommodation description, it's an understatement! All you see is ocean from the balcony- like nothing I've ever experienced before. Truly amazing. Property and penthouse were extremely clean and modern (including AC throughout the home, which was nice for sleeping. ) You can't go wrong staying here. Just book it if you're thinking about it. :) Kathryn was super responsive throughout the stay and beforehand as well- she's a fantastic host. Lastly, FYI- there's a $15 a day fee to park/use the pools/etc. that gets collected when you check out. I might have missed that in the listing, but it was a minor surprise to me.

Perfect for a Family Stay

This apartment was absolutely wonderful. The space itself was sparkling clean, with plenty of clean linens and brand new appliances. We stayed there for more than 10 days, and it was just right for our family of 5. All of the equipment we could possibly need for a beach holiday was already in the flat, down to laundry detergent and sandcastle spades. All of this, combined with the unbeatable view of the ocean right outside the apartment . . . it was perfect. Then, of course, the resort property was so stunning—beautifully kept, friendly staff everywhere, easy-to-use facilities including pools and grills. We wanted to stay for months! Communication with Kathryn could not have been better. There was a little problem with a running toilet, and it was taken care of—no exaggeration—within two hours of our reporting it, even though she wasn’t on the island at the time! We were just in awe. We will be staying here again!

Perfect in Every Way

We had the best Christmas vacation in the condo. The view is everything. Never once did we feel guilty for sitting in the condo because the view was heaven. The daily rainbows and whales breaching were such a delight. Every night we fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The condo itself was awesome. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked, washer and dryer was handy, plenty of towels, furniture was well appointed and comfy. Being a family of 5 we managed one bathroom just fine. Just note the loft is open so any early risers would potentially disrupt loft sleepers. The resort grounds are well maintained. You have two pools to choose from and they both are in short distance to the condo. Parking was never an issue. They offered free classes everyday to partake in. BBQ grills are well maintained. You can walk to the food trucks and a lovely cinnamon roll place nearby. Plus many more food choices and the handy ABC store for little convenience items (and good food!!). Airport beach is a 3 minute drive away for some beautiful snorkeling. You can walk but it took 25 minutes. And most importantly Kathryn the host was amazing at communicating and super thorough. Hopefully we make it back!

Fun in the sun

We had a ton of fun. The view is amazing, and to be able to hear the waves crash all night was a dream. I saw a shark breach the water as it was eating, and there are turtles swimming in front of the resort. So cool! What we didn't like was the on our first night there the fire alarm went off at 3:45 AM. We couldn't get it to stop. When I called the number related to the condo the woman on the other line wasn't Sharon she said she wasn't involved with VRBO, so you might want to check that out. Sharon also said that pest control was coming, I am not sure why but no one showed up. The TV in the livingroom isn't just a push the power on TV, you have to push TV and power at the same time and sometimes we had to enter a code from the back of the remote. It should be easier. Finally on our last day at the resort, my teens were playing a card game at the pool and the security guy or the guy who watches the pool came over and said that they were not allowed to play cards next to the pool. We asked why and he said it will disturb the swimmers at the pool. No where on the rules sign does it say no card games, it says no loud games like Marco polo. So the home owners and the resort need to be on the same page. People at the pool wre pretty pissed that MY KIDS were singled out, they were not being loud!! It was ridiculous. There was a crying baby every day at the pool and that family wasn't asked to leave.

Excellent family resort!

The Papakea property is beautiful and very well maintained. This unit has an amazing oceanfront spot. We saw turtles and a monk seal from the lanai. Even though there is no air conditioning in the unit, once we turned on the fans, it comfortable enough for us. This unit is very well equipped for cooking and there is also a few sets of snorkel equipment, putters, and 2 boogy boards. It was a great family vacation!

Fabulous resort, location, unit

This property is an excellent option when staying on Maui. Nicely priced when compared to competition, stocked with the things you would like but can’t bring and don’t make sense to buy for a few days stay (like cooking spices, coolers, ice packs, beach towels, and many more items). We did have a couple things go wrong while we were there, but they were no one’s fault and the owner took care of them quickly. The view from the lanai is spectacular! The resort is taken care of very well (that’s where the daily resort fee probably goes). Meticulously maintained landscaping, clean, pools are lovely and there are things to do when you don’t feel like going out (pools, shuffleboards, cornholes, ladder all) plus daily activities, if you have any time left. We’d definitely look to stay here again if we are lucky enough to visit Maui in the future. Thanks, Sharon!

Amazing View

We just got back from staying at this location and the Papakea Resort is located right by the ocean and this condo in particular has an amazing view from sun up to sun down. The owner has everything from kitchen things to enough towels to beach items. It’s always nice when the owners are willing to communicate with you and Sharon is one of the best property owners I’ve ever dealt with and everyone is very friendly. If you’re going to have a pool day, make sure to get down to the pool when they open at 9, because it is a busy resort and chairs go fast. I loved that you could also sit in the sun by the sea wall. There are some strips of beach along the front of the property and some people were even snorkeling because there is reef right out front. Hoping to come back in the winter because the location of Papakea is a path the whales take according to the neighbor. The convenience of staying in the condo and the location made it a great trip. And check out the pizza place next door Papi Ohana. Amazing pizza!

Absolutely amazing!

We had an amazing time in paradise. Sharon was excellent to work with and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. She communicated with us prior to checking in. The condo is very well equipped with everything you need to make your vacation easy and enjoyable. We do hope to come back in the future!

My husband and I recently purchased (late 2022) this beautiful condo! I grew up in Lahaina and it has been my dream to have a place of our own to enjoy and share with others.

We have traveled to Maui many times over the years with our children, and Papakea became our favorite place to stay. We fell in love with the beautiful property, including lush gardens and lots of amenities, and its great location, convenient to shops, restaurants, snorkeling, and walking/jogging trails. The oceanfront view from this condo can't be beat!
