Autumn House is located at the crest of Shoreby Hill which rises above the scenic harbor facing Newport. Harbor beach, marina, restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

Beautiful Mackerel Cove beach, one mile from the house, is perfect for swimming.

The property offers 4,934 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, fireplaces, central air, in-ground pool, sauna, internet, a sixty foot front porch, dining terraces, spacious rooms, a unique pub room, separate office space above the garage and beautifully landscaped grounds.

There are both formal and informal dining rooms, a chefs kitchen with Wolfe six burner stove, oven and Italian tile counter tops.

The first level includes the pub, formal dining room, center hall/library with wood burning fireplace, living room, kitchen, butler pantry, small tv room/den with fireplace, and informal dining/breakfast room.

The second floor is comprised of five spacious bedrooms to can be converted to king size beds.

There are additional rollaway or air beds if needed. Jamestown ordinance limits the number of persons 12 years and older to ten so any additional guests must be under 12 years old. Enjoy historic Newport which is a short ten minute drive or ride the seasonal ferry over to Newport across Narragansett Bay.

Explore the islands scenic Beavertail State Park and lighthouse, bird sanctuary, windmill, history, farms and more.

Autumn House is a fabulous home for gatherings due to the wonderfully spacious floor plan, proximity to the village and Newport.

Beautiful home with lots of space for everyone … even a private office over the garage. Felt like we were “to the manor born.” We were 4 adults, 1 teen and an 11 year old, but there was space for many more. Enjoyed the pool every day, and appreciated the beach towels that were provided. Easy walk into town. Susan’s recommendations for restaurants (Crudo and Beech) were spot on.

First off, this is just not a house, it’s a Home!A beautiful home away from home. Incredibly appointed in every room with gorgeous furniture and decor. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, cutlery, charcuterie boards, and so much more. The Tavern is tremendously fun! It has a wet bar, two fridges, openers, hi-ball, and wine glasses galore, and again, wonderfully appointed. The coup de grâce was the POOL! Comfortable chaise lounges, large pool towels, and … pool toys. Two outdoor grills with all the needed tools. Lots of outdoor seating, including the front veranda. Steps away from downtown Jamestown with restaurants, delis, ice cream stores and a ferry that goes to Newport. Great Home, we will definitely return!

This a large property that is also the family home most of the year. It is rare to find a house with five bedrooms and 3 plus bathrooms in a walk-to-town location - and the property is as advertised, complete with a separate home office. Communicating with Susan before and during our stay was excellent. The layout of the (older) home is a bit quirky and our biggest issue was the lack of internal lighting. The front veranda is a lovely spot to sit and read, breezy even on hot days. The pool area is a bit cramped for kids to run around - but it is a pool and we enjoyed it. All in all, it's a great spot for a large group with plenty of room to spread out. I'd suggest that a few standing lamps - especially in the downstairs rooms would make a big difference! Jamestown itself was quiet, pedestrian friendly with some good restaurants, a great kids playground, library, two lovely state parks and a sheltered cove beach that is great for kids.

Jamestown weekly rental

The Zwick’s were perfectly friendly and accommodating hosts, even gave recommendations for needs of our injured guest and transportation inquiry. The house was roomy well appointed. Would stay again!

Lovely!

We had a blast. The house was perfect for our large family and Susan and Howard were super responsive and extremely friendly hosts. A short walk to the shops, a playground, and great food. Less than a five minute drive to a great little beach. Super close to Newport. Overall, very convenient, was a fantastic stay!

Great family retreat

Shoreby Hill provided a tranquil retreat for my family. 10 of us stayed a week and enjoyed staying on the property or walking into town. The property had everything we needed and Susan & Howard were gracious and responsive hosts. I couldn’t recommend the property enough. Plenty of beautiful inside and outside space with an amazing pool and a perfect location. We hope to return.

A piece of heaven!

This property is gorgeous! Quiet and peaceful with a beautiful inground pool and huge front porch with comfortable lounge chairs to read a book. The ocean is a short walk down the hill where you can ride the ferry or rent a kayak. We loved spending time at the property. Too pretty to leave!

Beautiful Girl’s Weekend

Had a wonderful weekend with girlfriends at this amazing property. The house was very comfortable and spacious, quiet and centrally located in a beautiful neighborhood. Quick walk or drive to town. The front porch is a dream. The lovely homeowners were there to greet us and made sure we knew all the ins and outs of their home prior to our stay.

Perfect House for Whole Family

This property is fantastic! The actual property is more impressive in person. It was very conveniently located in Jamestown. Short walk to all the restaurants and beach. Great BBQ, huge pool and fully stocked kitchen was a huge plus. For 12 people there was even space for everyone to have quiet time when needed. Howard and Susan do a great job renting out their house and were always available to answer any questions. We will be back!

Jamestown Perfect for a Newport Wedding

We had a delightful four days at this elegant, comfortable, and welcoming home. The owners are most hospitable and see to every comfort. This house is wonderfully situated and features abundant, lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. It feels like home away from home. Great kitchen! Excellent features for the plugged and unplugged. The town is charming and walkable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend this home wholeheartedly.

Jamestown Rental House

Very nice (and large) front porch and pub for socializing, and a nice pool area in the backyard. A bit dated, but clean and nice overall, and a short walk into the village. The owners are responsive and helpful with any questions. We love Jamestown and have close friends in the village. It's a wonderful place to vacation, and you can pop into Newport on the ferry without any trouble at all. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We had a fabulous family week in Jamestown in this beautiful historic home! Howard and Susan greeted us when we arrived to answer any questions. The home was conveniently located making it easy to walk to the village, the playground and the harbor. Short drive away from Mackerel Cove Beach and the Beavertail Lighthouse. The kitchen was well stocked to cook family dinners and the outdoor BBQ and pool were amazing! There was plenty of space for the family to spread out for quiet time when needed and a wonderful gathering area for all. It was truly a privilege to stay in this beautiful home!! Thank you!

Family Vacation

Our extended family and dog had a relaxing and fun week together at Shoreby Hill. The house is large and very comfortable with a great front porch, heated pool, grill, and numerous places to sit both indoors and outdoors. The property is located in a very nice quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of the town. The closest beach is readily accessible by bicycle or a short car ride. Newport is just over the bridge about 15 minutes away. We really enjoyed our time at Shoreby Hill and hope to return in the future. Thanks to Howard and Susan, who were great hosts!
