Welcome to our family cottage just east of the Silver Lake sand dunes in the charming village of Mears, Michigan. We are 6 minutes away from Silver Lake and its stunning sand dunes. Our cottage is a 1-bedroom, 1-bath layout with a spacious loft that comfortably accommodates four. We feel like this is an ideal choice for families seeking a fun getaway in a quiet place.

Situated on a double lot, our cottage offers ample parking space, making it convenient for guests to bring their dune vehicles and engage in outdoor activities like bonfires or even hang some of your hammocks on a couple of our trees.

Inside, you'll find a full size kitchen. With a full size refrigerator, an electric stove, microwave, ample, full size coffee maker, and toaster.

The cottage also includes a full size laundry room that is directly off the entrance. This is a major practical amenity when dealing with sandy adventures.

Although the cottage does not have air conditioning, we've provided fans for each room to ensure a comfortable stay. The cottage also offers internet access, a roku on site, and a television downstairs. Upstairs has a television as well.

Located near Route 31, our cottage provides easy access to the magnificent beaches of Lake Michigan, as well as nearby state parks and forests, inviting you to explore the natural wonders of the area.

Adjacent to the property is a small park that offers pickle-ball, basketball, and a playground, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, the cottage is 5 minutes away from the bike trail.

Oceana 1892 Cottage Rules:

No smoking inside the property. If smoking outside please make sure to put butts & any flammable material in a proper disposal receptacle
No parties or loud gatherings. We expect that the people who will be at the property are only the guests who have rented the property.
Keep noise levels down after 10:30 p.m. We have very nice neighbors and would like to make sure they are not impacted by anyone staying in our cottage.
Respect the privacy of our neighbors.
Do not remove any items from the property. Do not install any items in or on our property.
Take off shoes inside the property.
Turn off lights and appliances when leaving the property to conserve energy.
Keep the property clean and tidy.
Do not use towels or linens to remove makeup or clean shoes.
Do not leave any food out in the open.
When leaving the property, please ensure that all doors are closed and locked. The doors have smart locks and may need to be closed tightly in order for the lock to work properly.
Do not use the property for commercial or illegal purposes.
No unregistered guests allowed.
Do not use candles or any other open flames inside the property.
Do not move any furniture without prior approval.
Report any damages or issues to the host immediately.
Follow all trash and recycling guidelines provided.
We kindly ask that you respect the property and the belongings inside.
We kindly ask that you do not bring any pets onto the property, as some guests may have allergies or sensitivities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our property comfortable and welcoming for all guests.
Please do not flush feminine hygiene products or baby wipes, as our property operates on a septic system. Flushing these items can cause costly damage and inconvenience for our guests.
There will only be up to 6 people who are staying the night at the property
You will only have 2-4 total vehicles parked on the property including trailers, campers, personal vehicles, dune vehicles, etc. And the vehicles will only be parked on agreed upon parking spots on the property.
If the firepit is used you will take all proper precautions to make sure the fire is out including using a bucket of water to put out the embers.
If you use the hose please make sure the hose is coiled back up on the concrete area and the water is off

Trash Guidelines:
Please make sure all garbage is contained in a garbage bag
Please make sure that all trash, food waste, etc. is put in an appropriate bag and then placed in the black garbage bin near the out-building.
Any cans can be taken to the BP gas station near rt. 31 for cash-in. If you would prefer you can leave a separate bag of cans next to the garbage can if you arrange with us.

Linen & Needs Guidelines:
We provide sheets, pillows, and blankets are provided. If you would like to bring your own you are more than welcome to do so, we have 3 queen beds and 2 twin beds.
