Comfortable Island Home, Easy Access to Beaches and Town

Salt Box style Log Home with open floor plan built by my family with a country feel, located on a wooded lot in the down island town of Oak Bluffs. Central Air and easy walk to local beach that is used by families of the Lagoon Heights area. Beautiful town and state beaches close by. Charter fishing, golf, great restaurants and ample shopping for the occasional rainy day. Many local attractions to visit, gingerbread homes, tabernacle, oldest functioning carrousel, walking/ bike trails and nature preserves to keep one busy while enjoying the the Vineyard's laid back, casual nature. First floor bedroom has queen bed, upstairs has the full bed. Loft area has three twin beds. Screened porch has wicker furniture, two couches and two comfortable chairs. The home provides a comfortable retreat for those that prefer to be away from crowds, yet only a short trip to town and the beaches.
*If not able to bring your own linens, they can be provided for an additional fee that is dealt with at the time of arrival. I will discuss with the guests prior to arrival.

Keywords: Log home, deck, screened porch, grill, outside shower, quiet neighborhood, walk to local beach, 1.1 miles to town, restaurants, shopping and fishing. Golf close by at Farm Neck and a 10-15 minute ride to Mink Meadows Golf Club in Vineyard, Haven.

Check in time generally around noon on day of arrival. Varies according to departure of party leaving. Check out time is generally 10 am to provide sufficient time for turnover(terminal cleaning) before next parties arrival.

Owner does not break up a prime summer week, therefore all bookings need to be for seven nights. In addition, the weeks need to run Saturday to Saturday, as the turnover day with support with cleaning is on Saturday during prime time. All other dates can book a minimum of two nights at anytime.

I request that guests bring their own linens when bringing a vehicle. When I provide there is a fee of $70. that is not part of VRBO fees.
In the "local" neighborhood, loud music/ dialogue after 10 pm is considered unreasonable. Neighbors will report. Thank you.

Very nice and spacious house with many entertainment spaces! The location was good for our desire to shop, swim at the beach, and attend the African American Film Festival throughout the Vinyard. Our only complaint was the limited bathroom facilities, one for such a huge space!

We loved our stay in the beautiful cabin. We also loved John! We felt very honored to stay in a place that had a great story behind it. We cooked dinner one night in the kitchen and it was great and we loved using the patio and sunroom in the morning to drink coffee and read. Renters keep in mind, the upstairs bedroom gets hot in the summer if you don’t keep the door open!

Nice, Accommodating Stay

The property owner is very responsive and helpful. The house is nice and it’s just a few minutes from downtown Oak Bluffs. Quiet and peacefu with good patio space. Exactly what I wanted...

I wanted a nice quiet residence a bit out of the way yet close to town (Oak Bluff) just to relax and reboot. Hand built by the owner, roomy yet cozy, finished rustic cabin charm with a full kitchen (drip coffee maker), quiet bedrooms (one upper level one main level). The grill on the deck gets super hot leaving food sizzling and crisp. Bring your own sheets and towels. It hit the spot--exactly what I wanted for a quick long-weekend getaway to relax and refresh.

Wonderful stay!

Everything about our stay was perfect. The house was extremely clean, more than enough room for all 6 of us, beautiful property all around. We’d recommend staying if you ever visit MV. John was extremely friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was super easy.

Beautiful place, Wonderful host

I think this was one of the best places we found in VRBO.. We initially was very skeptical about the place but when we reached the house it was wonderful, beautiful and very spacious.. John maintained the place very well.. He welcomed us warmly and explained us everything about the place.. Next time we go to Oak Bluff we will definitely try to stay at this place again.

Perfect stay

The property and location were absolutely perfect for our needs. It was very spacious with plenty of sleeping and lounging options. We were pleasantly surprised by the high ceilings, outdoor shower, and deck. John was very good at communicating from the booking through our departure. We were able to walk from the property to all central OB destinations and were happy to return to this quiet spot off the beaten path. We hope to stay here on return trips to the Island.

Loved hope to stay again

It’s a very family friendly space. It’s not the most modern but the cost of staying in a house on MV is getting outlandish and for the value we didn’t care one bit. Owner was really friendly and not intrusive at all.

Island trip

Our stay at this island home on Martha's Vineyard was fantastic. It had so many nice locations to sit, visit, read and enjoy the day. John was super easy to connect with and met us at the property to go over everything we might have needed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked with items you might need if you choose to make your own meal. I would highly recommend this property for a nice location to travel and tour Martha's Vineyard. It's location was very close to the areas we wanted to visit. Thank you for a great stay!

Annual Golf Trip

Everything was as described if not better. John was a great host and took care in showing us around the property and making sure we were comfortable and had everything needed for a perfect weekend stay. In my opinion, the property was better in person than in pictures. Great overall experience. Wonderful Place to Stay!

We absolutely loved this house and our time in Oaks Bluff. John was fantastic to work with and made sure we were comfortable and settled in when we arrived. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe. We definitely plan to return someday!

Oak bluffs

Owner lives next door, so good accessibility. The house is close to center of Oak Bluffs. Neigborhood was quiet during our stay after Labor Day. Beds were comfortable. Only caution is the dirt roads going to house were heavily rutted with several deep potholes which were difficult to negotiate even at a slow speed. Vehicles beware! Otherwise, a pleasant stay.

Lovely Gem in Oak Bluffs

Great Long Weekend

We had a great Labor Day Weekend here (2023). The owners were very responsive and kind. The location is an easy bike into Oak Bluffs, but probably too far to walk. The house is actually more spacious and brighter than the online pictures indicate. There was laundry available in the basement and the air conditioning was nice on the one humid day we had. Our family of four would definitely stay here again.

I'm a retired Healthcare Administrator and my wife is a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice. We purchased the land in 1965 and built in "83. Additions added in 2007.

This is a family home that we now rent. We also have a two bedroom apartment on the property that we use for ourself, primarily on weekends.

Home is generally available from May1st thru October 31 each year.

What we find attractive about the Vineyard is that the character of the island has not changed in the 57 years that we have been coming here. There is more activity and certainly more homes than in the past but the feel is the same. Clean beaches and overall a quint place to visit and enjoy the tranquility of the island.
