Sogsbakki is a new modern 3 bedroom luxury villa located in Grimsnes, a 45 min. drive from Reykjavik and 30 min. drive to Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir. The villa, which is within a gated area which gives you sense of being totally secure, has a modern design and is very well equipped in every way; it’s surrounded by terraces on all sides, equipped with sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, and outdoor barbecue (gas), garden furniture. There are three bedrooms, of which one spacious master bedroom, spacious living room, dining for area for 12 people, kitchen, bathroom and washing room. In the area there are number of golf courses, swimming pools, hiking trails, fishing rivers and other exciting things. The nearest restaurant is only 5 min. walk away.

Excellent place to stay and great base to explore from

We had an excellent stay in Iceland. Just around the corner from Selfoss (easy for your grocery shop) and the main attractions from the golden circle are less than an hour’s drive away. The property is very tidy and cosy and Elin is a great host. Definitely a great place to stay

Easy check in. Beautiful place, perfect landing spot for visiting the South and West of Iceland and the golden circle. Elin made everything quite easy from initial questions about booking to answering questions during our stay. The sauna was amazing. The hot tub requires 3 hours to fill and we used only once because we were not comfortable letting in run all day (though we were told that would be ok). We had a wonderful trip.

Iceland Day Trips

Property was perfect for day trips for the golden circle, snorkelling, lava cave and volcano hike, Sky Lagoon and glacier lagoon (long day). Came back to relax in the hot tub and sauna.

Fantastic!

This couples property was great! They had all the amenities of home and it was centrally located for adventures in Iceland’s southern region. Could not have been more pleased with their hospitality, flexibility, and kind demeanor! Highly recommend this property for your travels.

Beautiful home in great location

We really enjoyed staying at Elin's cozy and modern home. Very welcoming and homey. Sometimes rentals feel like they are just rentals but this house felt like staying in a well cared for home. We had everything we needed, kitchen basics, linens, etc.. Only downside was we wish the Hotpot/Hot tub had been easier to use. We only got to enjoy it once on our 6 night stay but otherwise this place was great. Definitely recommend!

Perfection

The location of this property is perfect! It’s close to Selfoss, all the main attractions of the Golden Circle as well as off the beaten path sights. It was so nice coming back to this cozy property after a long day of sightseeing to take in the beautiful surroundings and relax in the hot pot & sauna. The property owners go out of their way…literally, to familiarize you with the house and their country. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful, well-designed home in an unforgettable location

We stayed 5 nights. Elin went out of her way to meet us, get us familiarized with everything, and providing suggestions for things to do. She was responsive and helpful. It is a stunning, elegant home. We loved the sauna, outdoor shower, and "hot pot." The beds were comfortable. The house was immaculate. The kitchen was gourmet. And water from the tap is better than any bottled water you've ever tasted. We walked on the paths around the home every morning. And major attractions on the Golden Circle are within easy driving distance. We had an amazing time!

Golden Circle Getaway

This house is the perfect place to stay while visiting Iceland. It is away from it all but close to many popular touring sights. It’s a great house to come to after you’ve been out exploring all day. It’s well stocked , beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Elin is the consummate hostess. She greets you on arrival at a designated location and escorts you to the house. We arrived on a morning when the roads were somewhat slippery and we were happy to have her lead the way. To my delight, she greeted us with a bottle of prosecco to celebrate my birthday (which was the reason for our trip). This house is also good for seeing the northern lights. Just walk out the door and there they are (if you’re lucky!). I highly recommend Elin’s house.

Fantastic holiday home

This modern holiday home was the perfect base for our day tours into the wonderful nature of Iceland's southwest. Only 15 minutes north of Selfoss it offered all amenities we could think of. Besides a very appealing arrangement this included a well equipped open plan kitchen in a spacious living room, three bedrooms, lots of stowage space, a sauna, an outdoor hot tub with shower, laundry facilities as well as a Weber grill. Everything worked properly and was super clean. Elin (property owner) was very hospitable and reachable whenever needed. Even better, after our arrival in Iceland we met Elin's son in Reykjavik who guided us to the house where he gave us a comprehensive briefing. What else could we expect? Really nothing to complain about. We can fully recommend this holiday home!

Gemütliches kleines Idyll

Das Ferienhaus ist ideal gelegen, um in verschiedene Richtungen Ausflüge zu unternehmen. Der Wohnraum ist modern und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet. Einige Gewürze und Lebensmittel sind bereits vorhanden und können benutzt werden. Es ist jedoch schade, dass der Hot Tub jedesmal drei Stunden braucht um vollzulaufen. Der Kamin war leider nur der Deko.

Selfoss house

We had a great stay at Elin's house. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle and Reykjavik. The house was very warm and comfortable, with an extremely well-equipped kitchen which we made good use of. Elin and her husband met us and drove with us to the house which was much appreciated and she was only a phone call away if we had any questions or issues. Highly recommended.

Excellent Home Away from Home

Elin was very easy to work and communicate with. The house was very well appointed; we cooked a number of meals in the house. If any issues arose, Elin and her family were a call away. I’d highly recommend staying here and hope to do so again.

Outstanding in every way

Absolutely amazing! I first of all never leave reviews and secondly am the most neurotic person and nothing really meets my standards ever, except my own home. I felt completely at home here and the house is exactly as pictured—except it has the most amazing coffee machine that has sparked an addiction for me:) The sauna is beautiful. The house has everything you need and more. Plenty of condiments, towels, toiletries you may have forgotten, American charging plug adapters, etc. We spent a very long time researching where to stay in Iceland. This location is PERFECT! You’re less than an hour to Reykjavik which wasn’t of high interest to us. Being outside the city meant you were typically within 1.5 hours of EVERYTHING else you would want to see from Vik to Mt Esja and the erupting volcano. Elin was terrific to work with and extremely responsive. A+

I grew up in Iceland but have also spent considerble time abroad in relation with my work and studies (Denmark, France, UK and China).We love travelling in Iceland and abroad. We care greatly for our summerhouse and it's the best place we know to enjoy with our family and friends. Absoulutely the best place to relax and get in touch with nature which surrounds the place. We put great trust and faith in those who choose to rent our place and we do our utmost to maker their stay as enjoyable as possible.

This beautiful summerhouse is the perfect place to relax and enjoy being away from your everyday life both summer and winter. It's luxurious and beautifully designed. It's located 30-45 min. drive from many of Iceland's most popular places and surrounded with hiking trails and just few minutes walk from a salmon river.

The beautiful surroundings and the overall design of this place is irrisisteble and makes you feel welcome, relaxed and secure. During the summer you can enjoy the 24 hr light and the during the winter the Northern lights in the complete darkness. After a long day looking at beautiful sights you can relax in the sauna and make a delicious meal in the very spacious and well equipped kitchen.
