Austurbyggð 3, in Laugarás, is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. It is located in the heart of the Golden Circle with many attractions close by. You can visit the amazing, natural and powerful hot spring Geysir and the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, also Thingvellir National Park with all its nature phenomenon, Crater Kerið and the historical viking landmark Skálholt. Other interesting places to visit are the active volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull, the amazing Westman Islands and beautiful Seljalandsfoss. Stroll through center of the nearby cozy town of Selfoss and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the Reykjavík capital with all its glory, nightlife and culture, or take a day trip to the west to Snæfellsjökull national park or to the east to Vík and the Black Beach. Activities such as horse riding, fishing, hiking and snowmobiling are all in the area.

In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in Laugarás and the first thing you might do is to relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The house has a large kitchen with a long countertop, it is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and quality equipments for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. In the living room you will find books and magazines to read and a great variety of TV channels on the large flat screen TV. The bedrooms are bright and spacious, with high quality beds, and a beautiful view. The bathrooms are spacious with long wooden countertops, both with a large shower room.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting, and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time.The house is designed by one of our best architects, Sigurður Ólafur Sigurðsson who designed many of our spectacular modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 8 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Laugarás since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an e-mail request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

This was a great place to stay. We had our family, 10 of us, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Out of 5 places we stayed this was the kids favorite. Plenty of room and great hot tub. We found everything that we needed for our stay from all kitchen items to fans. I am a very picky sleeper. Normally on vacation I don't sleep well and usually can't wait to get in my own bed. Not here. I slept like a baby. I even pulled up the bedding to see if I could see the mattress brand incase it is possible to get in the states. To top it off we had a fantastic lights display. You won't be dissapointed.

There is a reason this house consistently gets reviews of 10 – it is because it deserves it! First, the views are awesome. Both from inside the house, and while in the large hot tub. Lots of sleeping space, lots of living space. Kitchen was well stocked with kitchenware. Property is exactly as described and as shown in the pictures. Excellent communication with the owner (Heiðrún).We had originally booked this house in 2020, but due to the pandemic we needed to cancel. We were very happy to see it was still available. It was the best choice then, and it was the best choice now.

House is beautiful and location is great. Views are amazing. House had everything we needed for 6 adults. Had an issue with the shower draining but the owners were easy to communicate with and responded to our concern immediately. Grateful to have opportunity to stay at such a lovely house and visit such a beautiful country.

Perfect for extended family vacation

Perfect place to stay with large family. Location was quiet and well situated for day trips. Had all the amenities we needed for meals in. Hosts were responsive. Gave tons of information ahead of time to help with planning our trip. Highly recommend!

Great place

Not too remote and not too close to the city, makes it a great place to try to view the northern light from the comfort of the home. Has a hot tub that you can relax in while waiting for it to appear at night.

Fantastic property!!!

I have nothing negative to say about this property. They have thoughtfully equipped the house with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub is a bonus and we used it to watch for the Northern Lights every night. All communication before and after arrival was answered very quickly. The setting is gorgeous along the banks of a river, a view enjoyed through the large glass windows. I would highly recommend this property even though it's a bit of a drive from the city. It's well worth it!!

Great space

The house was clean and had everything that we needed for the kitchen and bathroom. It was perfect for our big group and the views from the house were beautiful. The location of the house was also great because we were close to many of the popular things to see in Iceland but also far enough away from the more populated areas which meant we got to see the northern lights.

Aurora watching from the geothermal pool

Another amazing house and stay for our entire family; children, adults and seniors. The views from the house are something else and the private geo thermal pool absolutely the best. Enjoyed it an entire day while taking a break from sight seeing as windy -4C gave us that excuse. We were blessed with seeing the Aurora every night from the pool - indescribable amazing experience! Both houses we stayed in by Heidrun and Rob made our family iceland trip so much more special! Thank you 😀

Gorgeous setting and a great place to decompress at the end of a long day!

The house was clean, the kitchen was nicely appointed, and there was a large table for all of us to sit around after a fun day. We didn't spend as much time at the house as we would have liked, but when we were there we appreciated the hot tub, the hot showers, and the views. We used the house as our base camp to explore southern and western Iceland. We saw the northern lights too! Great place!

Beautiful, peaceful retreat

We loved the quiet location and natural setting for the large, comfortable house. Looking over the river while we relaxed was incredible, as was the hot tub on the deck. This was a perfect location for viewing northern lights!

Great for family reunions

I rented this property with my siblings and all of our families. Wow, what an amazing find. The location was very central in Iceland so getting to spectacular views in the Golden Circle was very quick and even pretty easy to get to further destinations like Vik. The house itself was incredible, very modern and easy to navigate. There were a lot of us, but the layout was such that we were able to each have our own space. One note is whoever gets the upstairs room won't have a door, so no late night cards unless they're playing too! The view off the back was absolutely incredible and something we'll keep with ourselves forever. Communication was excellent throughout the process, would definitely recommend.

Exceptional property that pictures and words cannot adequately describe…the views and area are breathtaking!! Beautiful spot to escape

Great location with access to waterfalls, geysers and other attractions. You may not want to leave the house with it's great views and relaxed atmosphere.

Serene, Modern Comfort

We stayed five nights in April 2024. We were treated to the Northern Lights our first night. The house is spacious, clean and modern. The beds are very comfortable. It sleeps ten in beds. The area is super quiet. The hot tub is pristine. The host was great and had good documents. The trash/recycling system could be a little more well documented. We did the golden circle, two hot springs and the southern beaches (where we saw Puffins!) Great stay, thanks so much!

Incredible house, amazing views, great location

This is an incredible house with stunning views. We spent every night gathered around the kitchen table enjoying home cooked meals before enjoying the Northern Lights from the warmth of the hot tub surrounded by a gorgeous snowy landscape. The location is excellent for exploring the South Coast, from Selfoss to the Golden Circle to Vik. The neighboring towns have some good spots to eat, with friendly people throughout willing to make a local suggestion. All in all a perfect base for a special trip in Iceland. Would return for a visit any time! Note: Although the listing says Selfoss, the house is actually about 30-40 minutes outside of Selfoss, and about 90 minutes from Reykjavik. Not a big deal at all but something to be aware of when planning your trip.

Incredible Property in Iceland

Everything about our stay in Iceland was perfect. The house was great and ideal for us wanting to stay in the countryside and be able to venture out and see Iceland during the day. We were able to explore the area and come home at night to a great home to stay in. One of the nights we were able to enjoy the Northern Lights from the Hot Tub on the deck. It was truly all we could ask for.

Perfect Place to Stay

Our family chose this house due to its proximity to the Golden Circle and the fact it was a bit off the grid - it did not disappoint. Modern home with gorgeous views, and a very helpful host to answer any questions. Loved the hot tub, heated floors and view from the deck. We had a wonderful and comfortable stay and would highly recommend this home.

Couldn’t Have Picked a Better Place!

7 of us stayed here and we all loved the property. It looked exactly like the posting, was clean, and had everything we needed. There was plenty of space for us to spread out, or hang out in the same room when we wanted. The location was great, rural, but still within driving distance of everything we wanted to do. Using the hot tub every night was wonderful and we even got to see the Northern Lights!

Awesome place for a family or group

Excellent. Very kid friendly, even had some toys and a couple balls as well as kid friendly cups, bowls and plates. Would also be great for a group of adults. The view is truly as beautiful as the online listing.

Beyond compare!

I can't say enough about this house and the view it has! This property is, by far, the best experience we had during our seven weeks in Europe! The perfect end to a wonderful trip! 5 stars just isn't enough for the experience we had! Can't wait to come back!!!
