'Desert Wild' Joshua Tree, Pool and Hot Tub

Desert Wild is a two bed, two bath oasis with a pool and hot tub located in a safe residential neighborhood of South Joshua Tree. We are a 10 minutes drive from the West entrance of Joshua Tree National park and a 5 minute drive to the downtown shops, cafes and galleries.
Desert Wild is a place to unwind, relax and enjoy the slow pace of the desert. We invite you to cool off in our pool after hiking, soak in our bath and gaze out at the cactus garden or star gaze from our hot tub at night.

We poured our hearts and souls into this home, building from the ground up to create a truly unique experience to relax and reset. Desert Wild is a place for visitors to enjoy the desert, and for those needing a quiet break from everyday life. We are in a nice, safe and quiet neighborhood so please be respectful of the neighbors.

A sunrise coffee or sunset wine on our hanging chair is a favorite spot of ours to unwind and reflect while watching the rabbits and other desert animals in our front yard. In the warmer months, our in-ground pool and shaded cabana area out back are a perfect spot to relax and cool off after a day of hiking. The hot tub is magical at night all-year long.

The space is custom designed in the "Finca style" featuring plaster kitchen work tops, bathrooms and floors throughout. We supply natural shampoo/conditioner/body/hand wash and lotion in bathrooms and our kitchen to protect the surfaces. No fake tans/hair dyes/toning shampoos or anything else that could stain the plaster is allowed.

On cool evenings, snuggle up by our gas adobe fireplace and pick a movie from netflix to watch on our indoor projector screen. We have aircon and heating to keep you comfortable but the design of our house keeps everything at a nice temperature most of the year.

This is not a party house and not set up for large groups as we do have neighbors. We only allowed the four registered guests on the property at any one time. If you want a party home in the middle of nowhere, this is not the space for you. Desert Wild is a perfect retreat for couples that want to come to the desert and relax, while having the safety of neighbors.
Sound needs to be kept to a minimum after 9pm and no outside speakers please.
We have a camera pointed on the driveway in order to ensure only the registered guests are on the property.

We are sorry and love dogs, but we cannot host emotional service animals for medical reasons and have an exemption with …thanks for understanding.

Our pool can be heated, but it is very expensive for us to heat the pool in the desert. In the warmer months the solar cover heats up the pool free of charge, we will leave it on for your arrival. In the colder months we charge $125 per night for the pool to be heated which is what we get charged by Edison Electric. We turn the pool heater on at 11am or earlier the morning of your stay and it heats up at 1 degree per hour until it reaches 87 degrees. The first afternoon of your stay the pool may or may not be warm as it depends on what temperature the pool was at in the morning, so please try to give us about a weeks notice to avoid disappointment. If you have any questions about the pool heating please feel free to ask. The hot tub is hot at no additional fee and always set to 104.

Our pool cleaner comes every week on Monday or Tuesday mornings, usually around 11am, but the time and day can vary a little. If you do not want him to come during your stay please let us know and we will do our best to alter the time, but cannot promise it can be changed.

The outdoor wood burning fireplace is only permitted in the colder months. In June, July, August and some of September, it is locked and not I operational. We do this for the safety of Joshua Tree as several fires happens every season due to human accidents. 150 acres just burned down the street due to one cigarette. We do not provide wood, but it can be easily bought at Bargain Grocery Outlet, Walmart, Sam’s or Mike’s.

*We now offer free Level 2 EV charging. The outlet is a 14-50 (4 prong outlet). We have a Tesla NEMA 14-50 adaptor. We also provide a 3 prong 10-50 adaptor but we are unsure if it works. Please bring correct adapters for a 14-50 outlet.
*We do not provide a cord from the outlet to the car. You need to bring your own.

The entire home is available to you on your stay.
Other things to note
Our neighbors are very sensitive to noise after 9pm. No loud noises after 9pm, and keeping lights dimmed at night is much appreciated.
Please bring flip flops for walking from house to the pool and hot tub and back as to not hurt your feet on rocks and the occasional cactus.
Our pool is right outside our back door so this is not a safe space for young children or pets. Any children staying on the property must be supervised at all times, and guests bringing children must agree to a pool liability waiver.
