Starlink satellite internet gives you high speed access, and two smart tvs can keep you entertained with your favorite streaming services.
Gas BBQ grill available.
Getting here involves getting onto a ferry in Pine Island, coming by private boat, or fly in with your own plane. It's worth the extra effort!
Boat slips are available for rent if you are bringing the boat. Are you a pilot? landing rights are available with prior authorization from owner.
Please note, we do not include a golf cart with our home.
Golf cart rental is available from property manager for 80 per day.

My wife and I had a delightful time in this house on North Captiva Island. Cozy and private explains it well. Plenty large enough for 2, but 4 people would be OK as the bedrooms are separate and there are 2 bathrooms. Living space was comfortable and the internet was good. The island was very relaxing with it's sand streets, golf carts and plenty of great beaches. Mangos and Mainstay were fine for food and Over the Water offered exceptional food. We flew our Cessna 210 in as the owner of this house is a member of the airport - otherwise there is an additional fee for a guest pass. They lost the western 3-400' feet or so of the runway- loose sand because of the hurricane - so it's maybe 1600' long?. We had no problem landing or taking off. We crossed the "numbers" at 75 knots and braking on the grass was good. Taking off was good too - Use short field technique- 20 degrees flaps and stay in ground effect until climb speed was up. Overall, we loved our stay!

Beautiful paradise

Love the island been there several times. House was clean check in was a breeze. Communication should be improved as we did not have a golf cart for the last day to get to the ferry and was stuck at the cottage. Luckily some local neighbors stepped up to get us to the ferry in the rain.

Exactly What I Needed.

I booked this house because of the location and fantastic price. It was adorable and exactly as expected. I couldn't get the dryer door to open but I think that may have been operator error. The property managers, Duncan and Laurie with Tortuga, went above and beyond to make my stay not just ok, but exceptional. I would have missed the ferry due to my plane delay had Duncan not reached out to give me additional options. He even called the ferry captain to make sure he new I was coming for the last boat. They both made my trip extra special and I can't thank them enough.

Disastrous

By far reserving the Calliope Cottage was the most disappointing and anxiety provoking experience ever for my partner and me. We arrived to find that the Island Club, independent of the VRBO rental, had failed to deliver the golf cart we had rented and paid for because the owner of Calliope Cottage refuses to include his onsite cart for renters. Topping that was the LITERAL HOT BOX we arrived to at Calliope Cottage. Power was on everywhere on the Island EXCEPT at Calliope Cottage! It was hotter inside the Cottage than outside. No one, NO ONE, had checked to ensure that the Cottage was ready for our stay. And to top it off, no phone numbers were provided for the owner and/or on-island personnel in the event of issues with the property! A disaster all the way around!

The house has potential, but unfortunately, our stay was affected by a number of maintenance and equipment issues. Several light bulbs were out, many window screens were missing, and the window in the bedroom with two beds does not lock and has a broken screen. The porch ceiling fan is missing blades, and the freezer shelves have visible rust.The kitchen is also poorly equipped—there was no cookie sheet or pan suitable for using the oven, and no basic staples such as salt, pepper, or oil. The kitchen exhaust fan does not vent properly, which causes the smoke alarm to go off whenever we cook, something that happens every evening. The beach chairs and umbrellas provided are also in very poor condition, with one chair unusable.With some basic maintenance and better kitchen supplies, the property could be much more comfortable for guests.
